Great Luxury Tow Vehicle

by yunkercm
Oct 11 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great trailer towing and comfortable interior.
Cons: Hard to park in tight spaces.

We replaces our 1992 Ford Explorer with a 2000 Ford Excursion because the transmission in the Explorer couldn't handle our new trailer. We shopped around and looked at both mid-sized and larger SUV's and decided that the Ford Excursion gave us the best...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: roomy, many features, can see well when driving
Cons: kinda hard to park sue to size, a little bouncy in the back seat

We just bought a new Ford Limited Excursion. It is the best car/truck I have ever driven. It is roomy enough for our child and all his "baby" things (stroller, carseat, portable crib) and also plenty of space for 2 dogs and 2 parents. The...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: comfort, size and options
Cons: parking in crowded lots

As the wife of a master auto technician, choosing a car can be difficult. He knows the pros and cons of just about every vehicle manufactured. When we moved out to the country with our 5 children, we started looking for a 4-wheel drive that would hold...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Depends on what you want and expect of the vehicle.
Cons: High price and unfair taxes.

I have a 19 year old vehicle which needs to be retired. I looked for something to replace it with. At the time there was not much around which
really qualified.

And along came the Excursion, with a king size price tag to go with it.

Ability vs. Agility: Both Win!

Dec 20 '99

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Easy to handle, stylish, agile.
Cons: Hard to find enough parking space.

To accommodate visiting family members, I rented a brand new 2000 Excursion from my local Ford dealer. With one of my family members 6'4" I didn't feel we'd be comfortable in my beloved Explorer on an extended. Once inside the Excursion, I was...

You go Ford!

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Everything
Cons: sometimes hard to find a big enough parking space

Smaller than the Queen Mary, but 20 inches longer than an Expedition. A not-for-everyone sport-ute meant to haul large families and large things small SUVs can't. A 44-gallon fuel tank to quench (barely) the thirst of the V-8/V-10 engine choices....

The Gentile Giant

Dec 11 '99

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: More room than a small bus.
Cons: Fuel mileage.

Ford has out done itself with this super sport utility vehicle. It is a vehicle that has a personality all its own. If you want room and are not afraid to drive a vehicle the size of a small state, then the Excursion is for you. It stands seven feet tall...

A RIDICULOUS behemoth of a vehicle....

by Robot1981
May 15 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: um....well, it's BIG.
Cons: Hard to drive, poor gas mileage, dangerous to other cars, TOTALLY unnecessary....

The long-awaited Ford Excursion has got to be the most ridiculous vehicle cluttering our freeways and suburban streets today. A certain family member INSISTED on having one and let me tell you, it is the worst SUV I have ever had the displeasure to...

Ugly excess!

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: none
Cons: can kill everyone on the road

This thing is such a joke and the people who buy them are even more of a joke. Why is it that most of these people who have bought one say "but I need it for towing". Stop your wining a fess up to the fact that you need it to feel better about...

This rig was made for a reason

by joey65
Sep 25 '01

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Large size, safety, towing ability
Cons: cost, hard to park
The Bottom Line: Ford designed this vehicle for a specific market and I give it high marks.

This vehicle may not be for all people but if you tow a trailer and have children this vehicle is for you. The ride is firm but not horrible. It is built on the F-250 chassis so don't expect a Cadillac ride. I opted for the diesel which gets me 13 to 14...

Not Made in Mexico!

by macdsmith2
Jan 26 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Big engine, pulling power, US made
Cons: gas guzzler, pretty big truck

After reading all the horror stories of the Chevy Suburban (see www.gmclemon.com), we went to our local Chevy dealer, and sure enough, he confirmed that the Mexico plant builds junk! Also, the only Suburban's he had on the lot were all made in Mexico! So...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Cargo capacity, comfort, convenience features
Cons: Limited colors
The Bottom Line: Support OPEC, buy one today!

For the past three years I was driving a Ford Expedition, but it really wasn't big enough. So last spring we went out and test drove some other vehicles, including the Land Cruiser and Excursion. I LOVE IT! This car holds the whole gang, and everyone...

Road Protection Investment

Dec 14 '99

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Room inside
Cons: Gas milage

It's the biggest and baddest of the new crop of SUV's. I was driving SUV's when they were just 4x4 Utility Vehicles. Because of it's size, the new Excursion should be the safest SUV on the road, pratically guaranteed to bulldoze anything in it's path...

Very Big

by SpecJay
Jan 13 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very Roomy
Cons: too big

Excursion barges into showrooms for 2000 as the world's biggest, heaviest
sport-utility vehicle. Against the previous title-holder, the Chevrolet Suburban,
Excursion is 7.4 inches longer on a 7-inch-longer wheelbase. It stands about...

One Big Truck

by fexpr
Feb 07 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable, quiet, and smooth
Cons: Not for beginner drivers

The new Ford Excursion is a huge truck with lots of room for both family and cargo. This truck has excellent power and still handles similar to an Expedition or an Explorer. It comes stock with a Triton V-10 engine which will not let you down. If...
