Pros: Engine seems dependable. Cons: See Above The Bottom Line: Unless you're a Ford mechanic, steer clear of the 2000 Windstar.
Overall the vehicle is OK when it everything is working properly. I bought it because I needed a van for my business. Since I've owned this vehicle I have had to replace so many things that I may forget to list them: Cruise Control - Quit; A/C Heater ... read more

Pros: Leather Interior, Captain's Chairs, Back Up Alarm System. Cons: Driver's side window won't roll down. Remote entry doesn't work. No value. The Bottom Line: I would not recommend purchasing this year/make/model, as it has had one problem after another, right from the start.
I have almost 75,000 miles on my Windstar. I'll give you the bad first. The interior lights never worked, and the dealer was unable to fix it. I had it in at least half a dozen times, and they would keep it for up to five days, and could never fix it. ... read more

Pros: Good gas mileage, sliding rear doors, outside stays looking clean. Cons: blind spot on right, center storage container not functional and in the way. The Bottom Line: Good family vehicle for Moms doing errands & carting kids around, economical & practical.
I have 2 kids and 3 stepkids and although the Ford Windstar (2000) is not gorgeous or extremely stylish, it is functional and economic. My husband has a Yukon and it takes roughly $100. to fill it up whereas my Ford Windstar takes $35. to fill with ... read more

Pros: At the time we got it, it seemed like a very nice van. Cons: Worst reliability of any vehicle I have ever owned.
Many repairs made multiple times. The Bottom Line: Before you trust the positive reviews, please note that they were mostly written in '00 and '01. Read this 5 year retrospective and be warned: STAY AWAY FROM THIS VEHICLE!
Before you believe all the positive reviews, please note the date on them--they were mostly posted in '00 and '01!! I too loved my 2000 Ford Windstar up until about the end of it's first year. This car is now five years old. Since driving it off the ... read more

Pros: *extras, extras, extras
Cons: *low MPG, I'd hoped for better
*Far back seat very difficult for adult access The Bottom Line: A nice minivan for those with kids
Traveling with 3 kids can be a bit of a challenge from time to time. One reviewer recently referred to a DMZ between her children, and I'm a firm believer in the concept. I like to think of traveling as a zone defense, each child has a zone, a parent ... read more

Pros: Power, excelleration, roominess, handling, smooth ride Cons: Ford reliability history, A/C problems The Bottom Line: Great for a new car purchase because of price, just make sure to buy with confidence. It price isn't a factor, try the Odyssey.
My experience with this minivan started in 2000 when my wife and I, after having our first child, decided to upgrade from our 1996 Honda Civic 2 door. I thought about the Explorer at first but figured out that a minivan would probably give us the most ... read more

Pros: Roomy, nice looking, pretty much reliable while it's still under warranty. Cons: Short warranty, and crappy transmission! The Bottom Line: Avoid FORD at all cost! Otherwise, you will pay for it with big repairs after the warranty expires in 3 years.
I've had a 2000 Windstar LX for about 2 years, and just rolled over 50K miles on it. The first 18 months were worry free, and I was actually liking the minivan. (It's a lot cooler that our station wagon) We also own a 1994 Mercury Sable LS wagon. Funn ... read more

Pros: the high safety ratings Cons: the reliability The Bottom Line: If Ford had a different transmission and would put the 4.0 V6 from the Explorer, then I would recommend it. I will instead recommend a Dodge Caravan
The Windstars I am righting about are not my own thank goodness. My friend bought a 2000 Ford Windstar with a 3.8 OHV V6 in the summer of 2000. He bought this to replace his 1998 Ford Explorer which was falling apart on him. He drove this vehicle ... read more

Pros: Great for family Cons: Poor handling The Bottom Line: Vehicle is very heavy and may not be the best on the market. Test drive others before making this purchase.
I have a 2000 Windstar SEL. It has everything. There are many features that are helpful with small children. I especially like the remote sliding door and the revers alarm that warns you if you about to hit something. We made this purchase without doing ... read more

Pros: Styling and safety features Cons: Excessive repairs and ford does not acknowledge defective product The Bottom Line: Avoid this model until quality and reliability improve.
We had owned a Dodge caravan but swore off them when the transmission failed at 70k miles. The Windstar styling appealed to my wife and the safety features (side airbags, back-up sensor) were not available on other vans of that year. The van is used ... read more

Pros: great engine Cons: ugly interior exterior (too plastiky), uncummfy seats. The Bottom Line: I just do not reccomend it...to ugly!! not comfy!!
Fords older model windstar and the current one, is just plain ugly. The base model is way to plasticy, and the interior of every model is just way to plasticy. I've ridden in my friends many times. We have a Chrysler Town and Country LX (Base model) ... read more

Pros: low to the ground Cons: bad trans
The Bottom Line: run away, they have'nt backed their product with me. please don't subject yourself to these bad encounters.
I just rolled 39000 miles and my transmisson is burned up due to the pump going bad and the fluid leaking out of a seal. The sloggin built Ford tough is a joke in my opinion. When I asked for them to back their product they said sorry it's out of ... read more
