Pros: No one wants one Cons: Really, No one wants one
I am a former Ford salesman. Yea, I sold a couple of Windstars, but practicaly had to give them away. Before I go in to this I want to say that it did receive a five star safety rating, which is the highest a vehicle can receive. Very safe, well from the...

Pros: Floats down the road, good looks Cons: reliability is questionable(gas pedal vibrates and engine hesitates or shifts erratically) The Bottom Line: Stay away from this vehicle, reliability of the drive train on this vehicle is questionable at best. Is Ford hiding something?
That is what I was told by a a Ford Motor Company engineer who I met with to discuss a vibration in the gas pedal at 2,250 RPM (since that time the vibration has gotten much worse) and at times the transmission hesitates shifting to the next highest...

Pros: Plenty of room - probably more than any other van I've had. Cons: Awful reliability The Bottom Line: Fix the transmission problems and blown head gasket problems. and you will have the best mini van on the market.
Ford Windstars have for the past 4 or 5 years done very well with styling and comfort. However their continuing problems with bad transmissions and blown head gaskets on the engine make it a definite vehicle to avoid. Ford did do a recall on the '94 and...

Pros: low to the ground Cons: bad trans
The Bottom Line: run away, they have'nt backed their product with me. please don't subject yourself to these bad encounters.
I just rolled 39000 miles and my transmisson is burned up due to the pump going bad and the fluid leaking out of a seal. The sloggin built Ford tough is a joke in my opinion. When I asked for them to back their product they said sorry it's out of...

Pros: At the time we got it, it seemed like a very nice van. Cons: Worst reliability of any vehicle I have ever owned.
Many repairs made multiple times. The Bottom Line: Before you trust the positive reviews, please note that they were mostly written in '00 and '01. Read this 5 year retrospective and be warned: STAY AWAY FROM THIS VEHICLE!
Before you believe all the positive reviews, please note the date on them--they were mostly posted in '00 and '01!! I too loved my 2000 Ford Windstar up until about the end of it's first year. This car is now five years old. Since driving it off the ...

Pros: visibility Cons: seats, ride, engine, ventilation
First thing is, I did not purchase a Windstar, I rented the Windstar for 3 days. After the 1st 2 min. of driving this vehicle I instantly did not like it at all. This was a fairly loaded Windstar, the seats were horribly uncomfortable. It had powered...

Pros: When I think of one, I'll let you know Cons: Too many to list The Bottom Line: If you only have 2 children with long arms, this may work for you. Otherwise, get anything else!
I am a soccer mom. And I got this car at a discount, but if I were to do it over again, and I WON this car in a raffle, I'd throw the keys away!
First let me say I've driven this car for 18 months, so what I write, I write from experience....

Pros: the high safety ratings Cons: the reliability The Bottom Line: If Ford had a different transmission and would put the 4.0 V6 from the Explorer, then I would recommend it. I will instead recommend a Dodge Caravan
The Windstars I am righting about are not my own thank goodness. My friend bought a 2000 Ford Windstar with a 3.8 OHV V6 in the summer of 2000. He bought this to replace his 1998 Ford Explorer which was falling apart on him. He drove this vehicle...

Pros: Styling and safety features Cons: Excessive repairs and ford does not acknowledge defective product The Bottom Line: Avoid this model until quality and reliability improve.
We had owned a Dodge caravan but swore off them when the transmission failed at 70k miles. The Windstar styling appealed to my wife and the safety features (side airbags, back-up sensor) were not available on other vans of that year. The van is used...

Pros: looks good Cons: totally UNSAFE!
In '97 I bought a used '95 Windstar. Like another complaint listed, I also had continual problems with the door ding going off. I oiled, sprayed and slammed, but the ding and light keep going off and have learned to just keep the radio loud enough to...

Pros: Good space Cons: Never works!
If you get this car, I would suggest getting a cell phone because it is going to leave you stranded. We bought a 92 Aerostar and as you can guess, It literally fell apart. We had to replace the engine, transmission, brake stuff, and many other vital...

Pros: Roomy, nice looking, pretty much reliable while it's still under warranty. Cons: Short warranty, and crappy transmission! The Bottom Line: Avoid FORD at all cost! Otherwise, you will pay for it with big repairs after the warranty expires in 3 years.
I've had a 2000 Windstar LX for about 2 years, and just rolled over 50K miles on it. The first 18 months were worry free, and I was actually liking the minivan. (It's a lot cooler that our station wagon) We also own a 1994 Mercury Sable LS wagon. Funn ...

Pros: Solid feel, smooth ride, and plenty of power Cons: TRANSMISSIONS - Failed @ 37K miles The Bottom Line: If you must have a Ford Windstar, buy a good extended warranty plan to go along with it.
Our family recently purchased a new 2000 Ford Windstar SEL and so far I have been very pleased with the purchase, which when you read on you'll understand that this is saying a lot!
We are a family of 4 with two boys 10 and 6. The wife an I...

Pros: Leather Interior, Captain's Chairs, Back Up Alarm System. Cons: Driver's side window won't roll down. Remote entry doesn't work. No value. The Bottom Line: I would not recommend purchasing this year/make/model, as it has had one problem after another, right from the start.
I have almost 75,000 miles on my Windstar. I'll give you the bad first. The interior lights never worked, and the dealer was unable to fix it. I had it in at least half a dozen times, and they would keep it for up to five days, and could never fix it. ...

Pros: Engine seems dependable. Cons: See Above The Bottom Line: Unless you're a Ford mechanic, steer clear of the 2000 Windstar.
Overall the vehicle is OK when it everything is working properly. I bought it because I needed a van for my business. Since I've owned this vehicle I have had to replace so many things that I may forget to list them: Cruise Control - Quit; A/C Heater ...
