Pros: Ease of driving, Ability to see in all directions and over most other cars Cons: The wind had a tendency to "throw" the van around
At the time I bot my AeroStar, I was looking for a vehicle to be able to carry my Mother and her wheelchair. I test drove a number of vans and station wagons.
When I found the particular one, that I ended up buying, I knew right away that it...

Pros: Smooth ride, good braking, good features, biggest fuel tank in it's class, Cons: Noisy engine The Bottom Line: Recommended for everybody who is like me...
The minivan was a rental for a few days. From the minute I start driving it to the minute I returned it, I was totally satisfied. Very comfortable, smooth and quiet ride. Brakes excellent. Doesn't jerk everybody to the front during hard braking (as my...

Pros: Overall, the vehicle was great. Cons: Watch for electrical failures
When buying a Ford Windstar that has a "Check Engine Light", make sure it is working properly before you buy it. We bought a 1995 Ford Windstar and the Check Engine Light kept coming on and would stay on for days. We'd take it the shop to...

Pros: Price/Room/Convenience Cons: none yet
We just purchased a Windstar, after shopping for an SUV or a Mini Van. Comparing Chrysler to Ford, and Comparing to all of the japanese makers, we found that the Windstar offered more to us at The best cost. Having had the vehicle for only a short...

Pros: Room enough for teens to have some leg space Cons: I didn't get the quad seating, and I miss it!! The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend this vehicle. My teens have leg room in this vehicle, and I have more than enough space for grocery shopping, scout trips, etc.
We've had our Ford Windstar now for a little over a year. I was determined not to like it, for numerous reasons, one being downsizing. After this year has gone by, I really like this mini van. It has plenty of room for our family (there are 6 of us)...

Pros: It comes in green and they do not make them any more Cons: Dealers know that your not coming back and treat you as a lost customer.
My third and last ford, check engine comes on for a year and a half, after many trips to the dealer I'm told that the rocker covers and other part have to be changed to rev. two or the light will always come back on due to blow by. Ford covers none of the upgrades or prior useless repairs
Steer wheel rotted away in two years, dealers response, "that happens"
Doors rust though, 4 trips to the dealer, final fix to replace doors with wrecker parts, both slides and rear panels.
ABS light on and off since the first days, talking to others this is common
Front rack grinding, and air broken after 4 years of use.

Pros: If you like disappointment, this van is for you. Cons: Power door not working, engine pinging, dealer, Ford company
My 2000 Windstar has been a lemon since July 2000 when I purchased it.
The engine pings constantly Berglund Ford in Salem has only "tried" to fix it according to Ford tech bulletins.
Within 2 weeks of each repair the pinging returns. There has been no offer to negoiate on pricing for another van.
They called in the Ford regional rep but "repaired" prior to his arrival. So of course when the rep test drove the van he determined that the ping level was acceptable and within normal operating limits.
Not only has Ford failed to back their product whn I explained to the rep that this happened, but the local dealer has delayed many times in the hopes that we will forget about it.

Pros: Very strong front end for head on crash at between 50 miles per hour. Cons: 3rd row seat is a pain lifting in and out
After my wife having a serious crash and my son in the front seat and myself in the back seat being able to walk away with only a mental nightmare of what just occured. The vehicle was written off with over 20,000 worth of damage but safety wise every thing worked according to their 5 star rating. I was so impressed with this vehicle that I bought a new 2003 Windstar just for the safety aspect of it. I would have bought a Ford Freestar for the same reason but I got the Windstar cheaper. There was not anything that I could really complain about this vehicle.

Pros: Roomy,Attractive. Cons: alot of electric and transmission problems.
I've had my Windstar for 4 years,I have a large family and desired the roominess it offered..I love the sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle.Motor has exceded expectations as we travel alot and I am near 160,000 and have had no major issues to speak of..,Body of vehicle is attractive and has held up well but MPG leaves alot to be desired and I've had my share of problems with the vehicle in other areas .. .Transmission has gone out unexpectedly not once, but twice... expensive and dangerous as it just stopped working and stranded us literally in the middle of a busy highway. Power windows, seats, door locks and mirrors all went out early on and had to be repaired as well as front wiper motor...

Pros: Good handling, quiet ride. Cons: Reliability, reliability, reliability
Well I just got rid of my 2000 Windstar. I seriously doubt,
that I'll ever own a ford again. This has to be the most problematic car I have ever had. Electrical problems fallowed by engine problems were topped by complete transmission failure at 65000 miles. The van is a freak of engineering and I seriously advise everyone who considers buying it, to think twice.

Pros: High safety rating. Cons: You name it.
Please do not buy a used Windstar. I actually bought mine new in 2000. I should have known better.
The first day I drove my shiny new van, the check engine light went on.
From that day on it's always been something. I get new recall notices in the mail constantly it seems. Now 60k miles later, my check engine light is permanently on because I refuse to bay thousands to get it fixed. It also failed emissions, so now I can't get it registered unless I get that fixed. I'm just waiting for the transmission to go as well, as that is what I feel will happen next. The van shudders every time it changes gears.
Buy a Honda.

Pros: Used price was right. Love the leather, captains chairs,space(3 kids),and all the accessories. It's paid for! Cons: Paint peel: hood, top, door edges. Road noise. What & when will need fixed/replaced next??
Purchased 2002, $16,000, 35,000mi., 2nd owner (I talked to previous owner after purchase). Air conditioning compressor, rack & pinion steering, intake manifold gasket, headlight, horn, power steering hose/pump, lt. differential oil seal, and idler control fixed and/or replaced & the 2 recalls taken care of before I purchased, thank God! At 43,300mi a valve spring broke! At 47,000mi had to have intake taken off to have ports cleared (ran lean) of debris due to pcv valve sucking oil. A improved valve cover from ford replaced the stock cover. Ford knew of problem but no recall! Stock battery replaced 12/03. Also in 12/03 all 4 exhaust insulators/hangers needed replaced. At 50,400 mi. DPFE sensor replaced. At 57,200mi the front rt. stabilizer link was replaced. Now 60,000mi engine light is on. Reads banks 1&2 lean. Paint peeling in small spots around doors and in top valleys. Sliding door rattles like it's loose in its tracks. Interior lights have turned on and off on a few different occasions?? Once in a while idle lopes, eventually smoothing out. Only 5yrs old! What next??
