A Best Selling Car for a Reason

by
Jan 15, 2012 - Updated Feb 17, 2013 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: acceleration, fuel economy, quality, easy service, parts availablity
Cons: prone to theft, oil filter placement (2.3 VTEC model), no rarity
The Bottom Line: Honda Accord has always been a top seller and for good reason.  If you are looking for a cheap trouble free car you can not do much better.

The 98-02 Honda Accord was one of the best selling cars when new and this was for many good reasons. I recently got to spend a few weeks using one that belongs to a friend of mine that purchased the car new back in fall of 1999. The owner ... read more

6th Generation Accords are a great buy

by
Sep 2, 2008 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros:

Great commuter or college car. Great value.

Cons: 6 cylinders had flakey transmissions.
The Bottom Line: If you can find one that has been maintained then snatch it up!!!!

I have owned two 6th generation Honda Accords; one was a 2000 SE and I currently own a 1999 EX. These cars are workhorses that are low maintainence and seem to want to run forever. They helped to reinforce Honda's reputation as a trouble free brand. ... read more

Just OK..

by
Nov 24, 2005 - Updated Dec 11, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Cupholders, quality of vehicle, blandness
Cons: Audio system, Noise, Honda Dealers
The Bottom Line: I no longer recomend this vehicle. Honda treated us badly and refused to repair something so commonly wrong. Look elseware.. We now drive a Subie

We where in Texas and our 1996 Chrysler Cirrus had another massive problem.. We had enough.. My brother in law was mechanic at a Ford-Honda-Mazda dealer and after spending a day and a half looking, we settled on a new plain Jane 200 Accord LX. Not very ... read more

Pushing 150,000 miles - EGR valve clogged

by
Oct 18, 2005 - Updated Jul 24, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Reliable. Economical. Dependable. Good MPG. Powerful engine for the price.
Cons: A bit ordinary - the road is full of them!
The Bottom Line: A solid car to own due to its dependability. The only reason to deviate is if you want to pay more for something more unique or stylish.

I have the 6 cylinder sedan and have passed the 150K mark. I don't see too many reviews of this 5 year old car with this many miles so I'll sum up some of the repairs I have had to do. I consider almost all of them reasonable and just the cost of driving ... read more

I must have one of the BAD ACCORDS

by
Jan 10, 2005 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Looks & handling
Cons: Reliability
The Bottom Line: Honda's are usually pretty reliable, but just make sure you get a good year model. I think my Accord was one of the messed up Accords.

The car was running fine for about 3 years or so. All the sudden, I've been encountering so much problems. Catalytic converter(good thing this was covered under warranty, up to 50,000 miles), distributor/cap/rotor(this was not covered under warranty. ... read more

Dec 31, 2004 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: Handling, Seats, Power, Feel Of Car
Cons: My 3rd honda lemon. Build and Reliablity
The Bottom Line: I like the car, but watch the price and stick with the EX or LX 4.

We bought our 2000 Accord V6 after our 1999, caught fire in 2002. The insurance company paid off the lease and sent us $3,000. We found a repossesd 2000 Accord EX V6 for $13,000. It only had 20K miles. We bought it. The first year and half it ran ... read more

Pros: Ton's of options and strong and reliable engine.
Cons: Pulls slightly to the right, only 18 miles to the gallon
The Bottom Line: If you are looking to buy this car I say hurry up and do it before someone else reading this goes out and does it for you

My family owns a shiny gold 2000 Honda Accord EX V6. The engine is a vtec engine which means it it has a variable timing camshaft. With the V6 model you are getting a 3.0 liter engine. Not too shabby for a car in it's class. With the vtec engine ... read more

by
Feb 9, 2004 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Economical. Roomy. Classy look...but...
Cons: Bland styling. No bells or whistles. NO SUNROOF. Road noise.
The Bottom Line: Don't expect much more than the LX offers. If you do, get an EX instead.

I traded in my gray 1999 Odyssey EX in January 2004 (after only 4 months of ownership) for a dark green 2000 Accord SE. I took this car because I got a good deal on it, the payments are low, and it's good on gas. Its got nice trunk space for my kids' ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very attractive, gas mileage in 4-cyl, resale value, Honda reliability
Cons: Not a thing!
The Bottom Line: Beautiful exterior, comfortable interior, and IT'S A HONDA.

I am now the proud owner of a 2000 Honda Accord Coupe EX. Ever since I saw the first one on the road in '98 (a red one-- WOW) I wanted one. There aren't many times in life that you can buy what you WANT instead of what you NEED, but I figure since ... read more

I'd probably buy one again...

by
Mar 28, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Same Honda reliability - Requires little maintenance
Cons: Always sounds like the windows are down when they're not!
The Bottom Line: If you can afford it, buy it - if it's too high for your budget, buy a top-of-the-line Civic sedan (the new design is super nice, too!)

I really like this car a lot - traded in a Granada Black 1996 Civic HX coupe for it. Miss that Civic, but don't have much to complaint about in my Signet Silver 2000 Accord EX-V6 sedan. The only thing that bothers me the most is that it always sounds ... read more

by
Sep 8, 2001 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Roomy. Comfortable. Dependable.
Cons: minor
The Bottom Line: I love my Accord! Since I'm not likely to be getting my dream XK8 anytime soon, this will do quite nicely.

When my Jeep Cherokee exploded (rear differential locked) on the way to Vegas, we knew it was time for a new - REALLY new - car. My first car was a Subaru GL which has 186K on it and still outperforms the Jeep, so I was very favorably pre-disposed to ... read more
