Pros: Roomy with good handling. Cons: Sudden Unintended Acceleration The Bottom Line: Any vehicle that has SUA (sudden unintended acceleration) is dangerous.
I bought a Honda Odyssey because it is rated No. 1 and I felt it was superior to other mini vans. I loved my Honda Odyssey until today. (7/18/2001). Upon pulling into an off street parking space at a crawl, with my foot already on the brake because of...

Pros: Nice all around van. Cons: Spontaneously catches fire.
Just a warning to other 2000 Odyssey owners. Our van is 3-months old. A few weeks ago, my wife went to the gas station to fill-up. While unscrewing the gas cap, the escaping pressurized gas fumes burst into flames. Luckily, only the hair on her arm...

Pros: Excellent Design, folding third bench, cargo capacity Cons: Poor craftsmanship, unreliable The Bottom Line: It's the best mini-van out there if you can get a reliable one.
The Odyssey is a well-designed mini-van but problems have been plaguing mine from the beginning. It's fun and easy to drive and is extremely versatile. Unfortunately it has been the least reliable vehicle I have ever owned.
Within a year of...

Pros: Roomy, drives like a car. Cons: The van rolled down a driveway while in park. The Bottom Line: We loved our Odyssey up until the van rolled down a driveway while in park with the emergency break on.
We bought the Odyssey after months of research and after driving every other minivan on the market. We were impressed with the Odyssey's safety ratings, handling and roomy interior.
Shortly after purchasing our van, we noticed a shimmy in the...

Pros: "2-in-1" - 2nd Row: Converts Captain to Bench Seat. Prestige. Dual Electric side doors. Cons: Gas mileage. Lack of a comfortable ride. Questionable dependability. The Bottom Line: So-So. Mechanical & body problems from day-one. One resolves, another begins. Warranty covered some. Lemon or tired at 90k-miles? Can this last 200-300k-miles? We'll see.
I purchased a 2000 EX in February 2006 with 80k miles. It had some very minor rust spots, which the manufacturer refused to repair (3-wks outside of warranty). I have recently noticed the space in which my 3rd row seat folds into is wet—more rust ...

Pros: powerful engine, quiet ride, spacious Cons: poor paint job, problematic brakes, not reliable power devices (doors, locks, windows, etc.), uncomfortable seats The Bottom Line: Hard to recommend it to anyone based on my experience. But most owners seems to be happy with theirs. Perhaps that's because of even poorer alternatives.
After long waited months on the waiting list, I finally got my 2000 Odyssey EX last November. My options included hood protector (aka. wind deflector), navigation system, floor mats, and the paint protector.
I was very excited about driving this...

Pros: easy configuration, quick speed, and highway handling Cons: static electricity, doors sticking, will not go into lower gears
Interesting review on the Odyssey Safety Hazard - catching fire due to static electricity. I have experienced extreme static electricity. Enough that I hate getting out of the van and closing the door. I try not to touch with bare hands and create...

Pros: Huge trunk space, no major breakdowns thus far. Cons: Automatic sliding doors heavy when broken,CD player stopped working, engine hesitates at times. The Bottom Line: First model year has most minor problems, try a 2001 for a polished version.
I have this car as a lease that will expire in July of 2003. I plan to turn it in and not purchase it unless it will kill me financially.
The trunk space is indeed amazing, and I can't complain about any major engine issues. With regards...

Pros: suspension Cons: leg room, minispare, price/availability, middle seat
The two biggest flaws I found in the Odyssey were leg room and minispare.
First off, I'm 5'11". I fit just fine in the driver's seat, but when in the passenger seat, my left leg hits the dash. Honda has a strangly-designed dash that comes...

Pros: Good size Cons: Engineering could be better
I usually hate it when a new model of a vehicle that I own is released. There's always new features that are more appealing, or additional options that I just wish I had. Not with the new Odyssey.
One of the most important features on any...

Pros: Legendary Honda reliability Cons: Uncomfortable seating, little storage space
Oh how we anxiously awaited this new MINIVAN! It took us 6 long months to get it. It would have taken 8 had we opted for the EX, but that would have forced us into the flimsy, overpriced factory car rack that you have to take with it! Oh sure, we could...

Pros: folding rear seat, dual A/C, sliding middle seat Cons: power sliding door The Bottom Line: Despite the problems with the malfunctioning power sliding door, our Odyssey continues to provide comfort, reliability and flexibility and in my opinion is still a BEST BUY!
Please see the end of the opinion for updated information
As the birth of our second baby approached, we decided it was time for a roomier car. Since our first would only be 18 months old at the time, we needed something big. Big...

Pros: great handling, dad approved styling and power Cons: power sliding doors need a lot of work
Shop around, read all the reviews, most people would agree that the odyssey is the best minivan available to date. But before you buy, ask the dealer if the problem with the power sliding door has been corrected. We bought our 2000 Odyssey EX in October...

Pros: Substantial, powerful, smooth vehicle. Cons: Paint marks easily
Not that this Van is by any means small, but all the other Van's, (and I test drove them all), felt like I was driving a bus! The way that the Honda handled and the powerful V6 engine handled hills, the design and layout of the front seat, made you feel...
