The Japanese auto companies are not all that smart. It took them about a decade and a failed attempt or two to realize that large pick-ups, minivans, and SUVs were hot and get competitive products to market. For example, both the Toyota T100 and original ...

I'd be very surprised if your working-horse Odyssey, favorite Honda Civic, Accord, Prelude, CR-V and even your Acura were not part of this massive recall. As for my wife and me, our Honda is just messing up in the garage. Not even the alarm is working....

I purchased a 2000 EX in February 2006 with 80k miles. It had some very minor rust spots, which the manufacturer refused to repair (3-wks outside of warranty). I have recently noticed the space in which my 3rd row seat folds into is wet—more rust ...

Pros: Great for a large family Cons: Too much for two people
The Honda Odyssey EX provides comfort, economy, plenty of cargo space, and the rear seat rolls down into the floor without losing cargo space in the rear. I love the ergonomics, whether you are sitting in the front row, the middle row, or the back row...

Pros: Great van, handles like a car. Rear seat folds down in a snap! Cons: Light colored interior get's dirty real fast. Some wind noise at higher speeds. The Bottom Line: We never owned a mini-van to this point and will never own anything short of an Odyssey after this point!
My wife swore she would never own a mini-van. Then we had kids and the kids had friends and poof!! We needed a mini-van. We had a 1991 Honda Accord and it was a superb car so we looked to Honda when it was time to get a van. We went to the Honda dealer...

Sets the Standard for Minivans

Pros: Utility, Reliability, Highway Fuel economy, Interior design, Cons: city fuel economy, smaller fuel tank size
I am actually the second owner of a 2000 Honda Odyssey EX. The first owner being my in-laws until 2003. We purchased it from them due to the birth of my twins. A little history is in order. I have had 2 Nissan Pathfinders (a 1993 and a 1995, both great vehicles but small and poor fuel economy) and 1 Subaru Legacy Wagon (very reliable, but small). The Honda Odyssey has been the perfect complement to a family. First, it drives and tracks just like a smaller Honda sedan, highway mileage is between 25-27 mpg//city 19mpg. The Odyssey can easily be converted to accept different interior configurations ( the fold flat 3rd row seat is invaluable). After 115k mileage, the Odyssey has been a reliable and faithful vehicle. The interior is rattle free and well designed. the paint excellent, the engine bulletproof and the transmission (4sp)reliable. This does not have the automatic doors (which were problematic in 2001-2002, or the (5sp) automatic transmission that was prone to failure during the same timeframe).

Be careful!!! With the Honda Odyssey

Pros: It has a lot of cup holders. Cons: Honda's warrantee allows them to fix your car with "used" parts.
I have a 2000 Honda Odyssey and shortly after I bought it new I had transmission problems. I discovered they had bad transmissions in 2000 odyssey's in certain 2000 models in a certain Vin number range. (Mine was one of these). They put in a "remanufacured" (used) transmission". I was upset that it wasn't new since my car was new but they wouldn't make it right. I did complained and they extended my transmission warrantee. I now have 98,000 miles on the van and it has had 4 transmissions in it.
The bottom line is that Honda in their warrantee agreement has the right to put "used" or "remanufacturered" parts in your new car and does. When you buy a Honda, just know if something is wrong with the car they will use "used" parts to fix it. The other thing you need to know is that even though this Corporation knowingly put out a whole series of cars with a defective transmission they did not issue a recall. I feel sorry for those people who did not discover this problem before their warrantee expired.

Pros: Secure, silent, good eingine and suspension. Cons: Expensive; only for a "family-using" or for travelling.
Everyone knows and realizes that japanese cars are the best ones. :) I live near Japan and I do know that. By the way, the most comfortable and simply trustworthy japanese autofirms are Toyota and Honda.
Honda Odyssey is the family car or a car for those who like to travel in secure, comfort and silence. I drove that car several times (my uncle owns it) and I should say, it's one of the best cars I've ever driven. This car is pretty expensive - that's true, but it's quality costs it really.
The great engine and comfortable inside, fine suspension and silent going on road, well steering and many "japanese" functions - are the main advantages...
