Author's Product Rating:
Recommended: Yes
Pros: Good horse power 135hp. Plenty of room. Good gas mileage. Cons: radio lcd went out, fabric on the doors loosened up. needs a bit stiffer ride.
The wagon has had a few defects. The first is the child lockout control in the shifter. Seems the little sileniod that unlocks the shifter gets stuck. So I had the mech. remove it. The cloth on the inside of the car on the doors has pulled away. Hyundai repaired it all. The Wagon runs smooth the radio lcd kept going out. I put a kenwood cd mp3 am fm radio instead. Gages are good, excellent air conditioning and heat.
The tires suck, they are Michelins. The hard plastic compound is bad when the road get just a little wet. Tires break free with ease. Great if you want to do burn outs at the local race track though. Get the new tires with the silica formula. The tires will last as long and you get better grip in bad weather.
Overall though if you get the bugs out, they tend not to return.
Good gas mileage. 26 to 27 city, 33 to 34.5 on highway depends on whether ac is on or not.
Head room good, along with leg room front and back. Wagon trunk space is great for a compact car.

Pros: Good warranty, decent highway mileage Cons: Shoddy workmanship
I bought the car new from a dealer back in March of 2000. Since then, I have experienced broken window regulators on 3 of the car's 4 windows. I've also had numerous transmission problems, had to have a defective catalytic converter replaced, and had to replace a fractured transmission fluid pan gasket just a few months after purchase. One of the A/C vents broke shortly after purchase, the brake lights experiences electrical problems after just one year, and a collision under 5mph cost $2500 in damages to the rear bumper. Of all the cars I've ever owned or leased, this by far has been the worst.
