Pros: Styling, handling, front seat comfort Cons: interior storage space, room, trunk space, road noise The Bottom Line: The rear seat and trunk are tight, but if the styling and overall character of the car appeal to you then buy it.
The Jaguar S-Type wins points for being possibly the most unique car in its class. But is it for you? Along with a number of other cars in this class, I test drove the S-type with my father when he was looking for a new car. Though he decided it was ...

Pros: Beautiful exterior & interior design, Class & prestige, V8 power. Cons: Could use a little more power just for some added fun. The Bottom Line: Recommended, but not without first checking out the competiton.
The S-Type was a badge that was first used on Jaguar's mid-range luxury sedans back in the mid 1960s. Unlike those oldies but goodies, the current version of the S-type is Jaguars entry level performance sedan, with luxury not so much the ...

Pros: Styling, uniqueness, and price Cons: Analog phone in comm package, light turn signal stalk The Bottom Line: Buy the S-Type if you want a flashy car and you don't have to worry about driving it in adverse weather conditions.
Back in the 70's and 80's much of the general populace knew the Jaguar as the rich-man's toy and the mechanic's nightmare. The Year 2000 S-type seems to be changing all of that. This car is truly a head turner; I think that several people have almost...

Pros: Magnificent chassis, ample power, Jaguar style Cons: Smallish back seat, lack of manu-matic xmission
S is for sleek, stylish, sexy, sporty. Built on a platform shared with the Lincoln LS, the Jaguar S-type is the first Jaguar with a strong Ford influence. While purists may cringe, that hasn't necessarily been a bad thing. The association with Ford...

Pros: everything Cons: none
It was bound to happen. Now owned by Ford Motor Co., venerable British carmaker Jaguar wants to expand with a slightly smaller and less expensive model line, the S-TYPE. The sedan's striking front end is reminiscent of the Jaguar Mark 2 of the 1960s. But...

Pros: Style, Form Cons: Size, Competitors
Having fallen in love with a 1963 Jaguar MK II in British Racing Green, I was delighted to see Jaguar Cars bring back perhaps the most classic, beautiful form of a sedan ever.
The curves and lines of this car make everyone on the road and...

The S-type brings back memories of the classic Jaguar look, but with the reliability, conveniences and accessories one expects from today's luxury cars.
A roomy, comfortable interior is combined with a classic front end. The adjustable, power...

Pros: Very nice for not too much money Cons: Jaguar is now a Ford product, some people think that it is starting to show The Bottom Line: Great luxury sedan for a decent price. Not as spacious as 7 series BMW's or S class Mercedes, but still ample room. Overall, a rather nice vehicle.
The Jaguar S-Type 4.0 is what I would personally label as a practical luxury car, if such a vehicle can be called that. With good performance, classic styling, and an utterly sweet interior, this vehicle has numerous great features.

Pros: Design, Power, Engine, Attention to detail, Discrete - It's a Jag. Cons: Fuel consumption, interior a bit cheap looking The Bottom Line: It's a Jag. It is truly a joy to drive.
Weird story really. We needed a bigger car to accommodate my son's pram, so we swapped my wife's VW Beetle for a Jaguar S-Type 4.0 V8 SE. You should have seen the look on the face of the dealer when we said that it had to fit in the back otherwise we ...

Pros: styling, performance, an alternative to a BMW or a Merc Cons: cramped interior The Bottom Line: Finally we have a car that can make the guys in Munich, shiver...just a little bit.
The BMW 5-series had somewhat of a monopoly over the sporty saloon market. Along came the Jaguar S-type, which is quite a worth opponent.
The first thing you notice about the S-Type is the styling, unconventional but extremely eye-catching....

Pros: styling, performance, techie gadgets, status Cons: inadequate interior storage The Bottom Line: Jaguar met all my demands: great performance, comfort/luxury, styling/status, features, safety, and reliability. Massive bang for the buck. The S-Type is easily my favorite car. I LOVE her!
I shopped for months, testing driving a variety of Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, and Jaguar mid-size luxury sedans. The BMW 5 & 7 series, while wonderful on the road performance and handling aspects, just did not meet my luxury and aesthetics requirements (both...

Pros: New Design Cons: Needs more room in the back
In 1999, Jaguar re-entered the compact class with the S-Type, a dead ringer from the front for the 3.4. The S-Type is a much better car than the 3.4 was, even when it was new. Powered by either a 3.0-liter DOHC V-6 or a 4.0-liter DOHC V-8, the S-Type has...
