Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fit and Finish, Comfortable, Reliable, low weight
Cons: Not many
The Bottom Line: If you can put up with a few minor irritations this is a great buy! You wont be disappointed.

I just traded in my 2000 mpv and wish I had kept it. We bought ours used in early 2003 with 70k miles. Ours is the lx model with standard wheels, roof rack and rear air. I traded my mpv with 114,000 for an 2005 pontiac montana. The montana is another ...

A great bet for a used minivan! (Updated Dec 2006 - bad news)

by nododges
May 05 '06 - Updated Dec 21 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: WAS very reliable to 210,000kms, lots of really great features!
Cons: Stereo just "okay", gas mileage poor. Update - transmission bit the dust at 216,000kms!
The Bottom Line: Great to drive, rear seat folds down easily, sliding middle seat is useful. I was highly recommending this van but then the transmission gave out!

Scroll to bottom for update. I bought this minivan in June 2005 and in my ten months of ownership have put 30,000 kms on it (I do a lot of hwy driving) -- I love this van! I have been a minivan driver for five years now. I began with a ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Flip in and out 3rd row seat! 4 doors!
Cons: Security computer chip in the keys makes it expensive to get replacement keys made.
The Bottom Line: This is a great family vehicle! It is an extremely practical investment for a growing family.

Anyone can write an epinion on a minivan verbatim from the owners manual.(Not to hard to do) But, I am going to share with you more useful information - for those of you who are looking into buying this vehicle as a family vehicle-as I did.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: moonroof, styling, roll down back windows, 6 cd in dash, sliding middle bucket seat makes a bench
Cons: slightly smaller than other minivans

We originally purchased a used 1992 Mazda MPV with 30,000 miles in 1994. We drove the van for almost 7 years and 130,000 miles. It was such a great vehicle, when the new model came out for 2000. I just had to have it!

We were in the mood...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Style, functional design, price, build quality
Cons: Lacks power under load, noise from moonroof when open

Our family has had two Dodge/Plymouth Grand sized vans which were good vehicles and served us well through days of hockey bags and kids friends. We were looking to downsize, but not ready to give up the 7 people capacity. The stylish looks of this 2000...

2000 MPV Great Buy!

by Janade
Dec 31 '99

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Disappearing fold-down rear seat, rear AC controls. Quality vehicle.
Cons: Smaller than most vans.

Although my family was looking at a Honda Odyssey, the 2000 models are next-to-impossible to find in my area. We did extensive research and found that the Mazda MPV was quite similar to the Odyssey, in both quality and value. We decided on a LX MPV --...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Versatility, handling, roll-down rear windows
Cons: Sluggish acceleration, tight 3rd row seating

We purchased a Mazda MPV LX in November '99. This is the first minivan we have owned. I have never considered myself a "minivan" type person, but with 2 kids already and a third on the way, I knew our four-person sedan wasn't going to cut it...

Pros: Excellent price, Tumble-under third seat, Roll-down side windows
Cons: Hard to fit child seats, difficult to see vehicle's perimeters

I'm 28 years old. I've been married to my husband for 5 years. We used to cut out early from work on Fridays and go to Vegas for the weekend. We now have a mortgage and a 4 month old son. I'm not sure when it happened, but somewhere along the way, it...

ZOOM, ZOOM... at what cost?

by vahrmeyer
Dec 31 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: smaller van styling, side/rear windows roll down, cheaper than same equipped Honda Odyssey
Cons: Poor gas mileage, only 1 teather strap holder for childrens seats, poor service
The Bottom Line: Based on my experience, find the extra $5000 and purchase a Honda Odyssey. You'll be much happier in the long run with the service, product and the resale value!!!

We bought our used 2000 MAZDA MPV ES in August 2002 prior to my wife having our third child. I currently own a 2002 Honda Odyssey EXL for work and prior to the MPV we had a 2000 VW Passat. Our children are 3 ½, 2 and now 3 months old. We tried the...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Handling, interior design, fuel economy
Cons: Sunglasses holder, power.

I purchased the 2000 MPV Model LX with Sport Package Option in June this year. Having researched the vehicle thoroughly against Toyota Sienna LE, Honda Odyssey and Dodge Caravan (Long Base, upscale model), I feel confident we made a well-informed choice....

by Hoodoo1966
Dec 12 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Versatility, styling, value for money
Cons: Ford engine?

We needed a useful car, but we didn't want a full size minivan, such as a Grand Caravan or Odyssey. We initially looked at wagons, such as the Legacy, Passat and V40, but we finally decided to bite the bullet and look at a minivan. We prefer...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Nice looking, drives well, reliable, adequate acceleration, fold down rear seat.
Cons: 6 CD Radio may go out.
The Bottom Line: I really have enjoyed owning it so far and intend to keep it a few more years. I think it is a good used car bet!

I bought the van in 2003 with 29K miles. I still own it in 2008 and it has 70K miles now. I bought the Mazda after reading reviews that indicated it was a good vehicle. I liked that it was narrower than other vans, which was important to me in fitting ...

Nice, but...

by mikelt98
Jul 29 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Comfortable family transportation with nice features. Dual side doors a plus!
Cons: Engine is GROSSLY under powered and front end is weak. Won't hold alignment.
The Bottom Line: Buy a 2002 model with more power. 2000 model is gutless

We initially got this car as a result of the 2000 MPV sweepstakes. We won a free years lease, and then purchased it a year later for the depreciated $16K price. The price was right, we were also looking for a minivan and we liked the look and feel of ...

by Denita
Oct 10 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Everything, looks, ride, cost
Cons: Light colored carpets.

This is actually our second Mazda MPV mini-van. Our first one is a 1989 and has 176,000 miles on it, and still runs great. We kept it so the dog can go for rides too, he isn't allowed in the new one. When we were ready for a new van we decided why not...

by butterfly10954
Aug 06 '01

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Cool for a minivan
Cons: A little small for a large family on vacation
The Bottom Line: Not your mother's minivan!!!

I love my Mazda MPV, and can say that I am honestly NOT embarrassed to be driving it around town! I can actually roll down the windows, (all four of them, incidentally) and blast Aerosmith on the high quality sound system AND retrieve my daughter's lost...
