Dont buy a W202 C Class

by
Nov 15, 2008 (Not Yet Rated)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Its a Mercedes, Brakes are amazing, one wiperblade is good
Cons: Looks, performance, comfort, interior quality sucks, driving position is bad, plastic interior rattles all around.
The Bottom Line:  bad all around and thank it is the only bad Mercedes ever made. I wish I bought a E or CLK instead of this junk.

For High School graduation my parents sai I could "pick" out the car I wanted. I use to have a 1996 Mercedes SL600 but I decided to stay home and commute to College and they said a V12 was not a commuter car. I had my choices of a Mercedes-Benz 2001-2002 ... read more

Simply amazing

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Styling, performance, handling, fuel economy (20/28), comfort, roominess.
Cons: I eventually have to get out.
The Bottom Line: If you can find one in good shape with low miles, don't let it slip by. You'll wish you hadn't.

This is my first Benz, and I'll be hard pressed to buy anything else after this. I bought my E320 4Matic used with only 47K miles for the bargain price of $15.7K. Not a ding, dent, or scratch inside or out. I could have bought a new(er) car, but none of ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Roomy, comfortable, and will run for hundreds of thousands of miles.
Cons: Expensive to maintain and repair.
The Bottom Line: This is a very good option for motorists of all sizes. There are many enjoyable luxuries, but seat comfort is at the top of my list.

There are plenty of reviews of this vehicle, many offering detailed, useful information. While this review purports to sum up the benefits and drawbacks of the Mercedes E-class from 2000, I will begin with a very personal consideration: room. I am 6'8" ... read more

2000 Mercedes-Benz S500: Mercedes-Benz pre-owned [12k mile update]

by
Jul 19, 2006 - Updated Dec 2, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A big beautiful car with wonderful ride, handling and style
Cons: Expensive. You'll have to actually read the manual to understand the car.
The Bottom Line: Fantastic ride and handling make this car a blast to drive; high techno-gadget quotient may confuse some.

What is an S-Class, anyway? The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is an incredibly ambitious car. It is meant by its makers to be the ultimate vehicle, with no excuses granted or tolerated. It is meant to accelerate and swing around curves like a sports ... read more

Long term relationship

Jul 10, 2006 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Mercedes does not skimp on quality.
Cons: Harmonic balencer has gone (or will go) out. Mercedes will replace free of charge.
The Bottom Line: If it is good shape (have a good mechanic check it) do it! Buy the sucker.

My wife bought her C280 new over six years ago and we both have to admit that it is the best automobile we have owned. With 92,000 miles now on the clock, the interior is as good as the day we purchased it, and the exterior is almost as good (with the ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Overall driving experience, comfort, elegant but not over the top style
Cons: Expensive
The Bottom Line: Grab one before the collectors realize how cool they are and prices go through the roof...

Frankly, I haven't been a fan of the most recent SL style, so when I went shopping for mine, it was for a pristine 1997-2001 model. After some comparison shopping, I found that (assuming you could find one) the V12 SL600's could be had for hardly any ... read more

After years of owning an ML430, I'm skeptical ...

by
Jun 22, 2005 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: Handling, ride, safety.
Cons: Reliability, reliability and reliability!! Oh, and did I say reliability?
The Bottom Line: I don't recommend you buy a used 2000 ML430 because of the reliability issues. But what about the new redesigned ML500?

In 2000 I bought my first SUV a new ML 430. Having owned Volvos (164E, GL, 960) and an Audi (A4) previously (I won't mention the Jaguar experience), I had come to expect good things from European engineering. I soon realized that I was 1/2 wrong with ... read more

The Bottom Line: Too expensive for the reliability

When I bought my 2000 E320, I was excited. One of the most comfortable cars I have purchased, although it is my first true luxury car (OK - mid luxury). I commute 100 miles a day, so I put about 20k miles each year. Pros: * Quiet ride, nice ... read more

Cons: No automatic headlights, window controls located on console
The Bottom Line: Buy this car!! You won't be sorry!

I purchased this car used with 60,000 miles, but it drives like brand new. This is a car that you could literally drive for 200,000 miles. The ride is as smooth as silk, the feel is extremely solid and the workmanship is unmatched. I didn't buy this ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Supremely comfortable, superb ride and quiet, astounding handling, and very fast acceleration.
Cons: Marginal sound system for the price
The Bottom Line: This is the ultimate combination of high luxury and performance. It makes every BMW, Lexus, and cheaper Mercedes look like a toy.

I recently purchased a pre-owned 2000 S500 in black/java with 50,000 miles once I tired of my old '96 Town Car. At first I was concerned about an S500 with 50,000 miles, but my Lincoln had 130,000 and no problems so I figured this would be fine, ... read more

Pros: Engine, carlike handling, great in wet weather, seat adjustability, good cargo room,Mercedes roadside assistance a big plus.
Cons: Reliability not what we expect from Mercedes.. Long waiting periods for service.

Feb 2, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Simply the greatest car on the road under $100K
Cons: Wood trim steering etc. should not be options on such high priced vehicles.
The Bottom Line: There is no other car on the road. I have driven it to the peak of its capabilities and it handles better at 160 than other cars do at 80.

Bought S430 AMG with most S500 options/gadgets on 3/31/00. 3 years feel like I own&drive brand new vehicle, nothing matching it. No such thing as over-engineering. Only klutzy thing is user interface on integrated COMAND system, ... read more

Pros: Mechanically smooth.
Cons: Plagued by minor trim and interior defects.
The Bottom Line: MB blew it and should stick to sedans. It's OK, but I expected more comfort and quality for the price.

I was drawn to the ML320 for its refinement, utility, 4wd and Mercedes' legendary reputation for quality. I got 2 out of 4. This is the 3rd SUV I've owned, following a 1996 Honda Passport and a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Clearly the most ... read more

The Bottom Line: DO NOT BUY THIS SUV UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, IT WAS MY FIRST AND LAST MERCEDES, DEFINITELY NOT UP TO THEIR BRAND IMAGE.

I think MB. has some great cars, but their suv's are almost the same as Hondas, Kia, etc. But the price is outrageous. You could possibley buy two Honda suv's for the same price as one Mercedes. Although, they are one of the more expencive vehicals out ... read more
