Pros: Comfortable, powerful, leather everywhere, sunroof, huge hatch, legroom, great stereo Cons: small rear seats, understeers easily, loose tire grip The Bottom Line: Great for sport-luxury buyers. Not for the autoX (in stock state).
With my other car smashed in a hit and run, we needed another car, and this time, it was going to be a daily driver for my brother. Nothing really in mind, except decently powered, sporty, and reliable. Of course, we were looking used to see if we can ...

Pros: Stylish, Fast, Fuel-Efficient, Comfortable Cons: Small back seat
(Note: The title is the song that they play for the Eclipse commercials on TV.)
My friend bought a year 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS in March and I have driven it dozens of times and ride in it almost every day. This is one of the best...

Pros: Looks, reasonably priced, good road manners Cons: No real vrroooom in V6, ABS only in GT, sub-par reliability.
The brochure promises "people will stare," and I admit I've already fallen victim to this prediction: every time a new Eclipse whizzes by me, I do just that.
My girlfriend is looking for a new car, and although she is not buying...

Pros: comfort, decent power, awesome looks Cons: blind spots, turning radius, speed shifting, reliability The Bottom Line: If you can afford the maintenance, it's great. If not, better stick with Honda, Toyota, or Nissan. I'd go with the V6 if you can find it.
I have mixed feelings about this vehicle. I test drove it while out car shopping one day. I had already read a number of reviews on this site suggesting the Eclipse was notoriously unreliable, so I had already written it off in my mind as junk. ...

Pros: Aggressive exterior styling draws compliments. Black leather interior (GT models) impresses all your passengers. Cons: Performance tends to disappoint. There are some design flaws in the '00 model. The Bottom Line: The new eclipse isn't bad. The styling is great. The performance was not what I expected, but it's still sporty. The 3rd gen eclipse is a not a bad choice.
I previously owned a 1993 Turbo (1st generation) eclipse which was an absolute joy to drive. When it came time for another car, I chose to purchase a used 2000 Eclipse GT with very low miles. The aggressive styling and seductive black leather interior ...

Pros: driver seat comfort, performance, large trunk, styling, acceleration Cons: teeny-tiny backseat, huge blind spots The Bottom Line: You'll fall in love if you get to close to one..be careful.
**Updated 2/9/2009 - appended at bottom**I recently (February 27, 2005) purchased a used 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I've been in love with these cars ever since they first redesigned them for the 2000 model year. I'd always thought about ...

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Does the new Eclipse V6 manage to win my heart, replacing the previous generation Eclipse GST as one of the most fun-to-drive cars money can buy? In a word, no. Is this all-new car still the affordable all-star...

A LONG-TIME MITSUBISHI OWNER
I've been a long time fan of Mitsubishi sports cars since my high school days in the late eighties. And I've owned a few too. From the ahead of its time Starion, to the first generation Eclipse GSX with turbo and...

Pros: Awesome styling, Great seats, Decent Power Cons: Too heavy, Bad interior design, Stiff transmission The Bottom Line: Don't let previous versions give you preconceptions about this car...it's completely different in every way.
I just traded this car today so I'm ready to vent. This car is the ultimate under-achiever. Good motor, but not up to it's competition. Good suspension, but not up to it's competition.
These things would be OK if the rest of the car wasn't...

Pros: Newest, hottest looking car with the best handling vs. Power vs. ride Comfort car for under $22,000 Cons: The emergency break is on the wrong side of the center console
I just bought a 2000 Eclipse GT, 5 speed, with sun and sound package(sun roof and Infinity stereo, etc). I traded in my '97 Prelude ( a great Car) as the lease period came to a close. I hated to say goodbye to the Prelude, but it was time. I based my...

Pros: Sporty and FUN Cons: Small back seat
When we bought this car I really didn't think it was a good idea. I was pregnant with our second child, and I really didn't think that a three year old and a newborn were going to fit in this car.
However, we needed a second car...and I...

Pros: Looks, handling Cons: Somewhat expensive, many minor problems
Last August, I purchase a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS (4 cylinder with the sunroof). So I've been driving it around for the past six months and have a good feel about the good and the bad of this car.
First, the good. The acceleration with...

Pros: Totally cool body, best red in the industry, fast Cons: noisy interior, sloppy clutch and shifter
Okay, I admit it. I never outgrew sports cars. I have owned fast cars all my life. My first car was a bright red, brand-new, 1965 Pontiac GTO. Zero to sixty in under 6! You know. Since then I have moved from Triumphs to the famous 240Z. Along the way...

Pros: Good performance, nice style, nice stock stereo & wheels Cons: Back seat is a joke, V6 lacks power in RPM ranges needed, low torque The Bottom Line: It's a pocket rocket, no doubt. If you want a sports car to race around in, this is one of the better ones to do it with.
My friend owns a Black Mitsubishi Eclipse GT and treats it like a little baby. He never pushes the car to the limit (not even close). What's the point in having the power if you don't use it?
Riding in the passenger seat gives a low to the...

Pros: Sporty, great styling, very comfortable, GT is terrific Cons: not much back seat leg room, some wind noise, low-profile wheels on GT make rims prone to bending
Before I decided to purchase my new 2000 Eclipse, I decided to visit a few forums on the net and see what people were saying about Mistubishi's redesigned sports coupe. Most of what I'd found was negative, which disappointed me. But I soon realized...
