Pros: looks, 4WD, 3.5L V6, spacious interior. Cons: tall drivers. nothing else!! The Bottom Line: I don't think there is a better SUV out there. I would recommend this SUV for a first car, or a seasoned soccer mom, or a serious off-roader.
I bought my 2000 Montero Sport Limited 4WD after I totaled my 2003 Nissan Xterra. I am 16 and the Xterra was my first car. I thought it was a pretty good vehicle. I liked the off road look, but it was so BASIC. Crank windows, manual locks, ... read more

Pros: Good mileage for 4WD SUV--sleek looking, stylish, macho front end Cons: Brake problems when vehicle ages--possible design flaw. The Bottom Line: Decent choice in used vehicle provided you are prepared for possible costly brake repairs--parts expensive as is the labor putting them in.A true 4WD SUV --can actually handle off-roading.
We bought the 2000 Montero Sport XLS 4WD new in July 2000. Great looking vehicle and not too bad on gas mileage for a 4WD SUV. We still own it in 2007 and of course it no longer is under warranty with 109,000 miles and over 7 years ownership. It rides ... read more

I was surprised to see so many reviews praising this Sport Utility Vehicle. Then again, most people are only inspired to write reviews when they first buy their product, before anything starts to go wrong. Here's the truth about the Mitsubishi Montero: ... read more
