Good reliability, some aggravation

by quikdrawmagraw
Nov 5, 2007 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good reliability & decent acceleration for such a small minivan.
Cons: Flimsy door handles, poor drivers legroom, poorly designed rear seats
The Bottom Line: Good overall but poor seat design & cheap door handles

We purchases a used 2000 Nissan Quest in late 2002. With exception of a transmission shift control sensor, the van has been very reliable. The door handles are flimsy plastic and we've broken two due to sticky doors. The door snags a bit sometimes and if ... read more

The 2000 Nissan Quest GLE has been a welcome addition to our growing family...When child number 2 came into the picture, we needed a little more room than our 97 Pathfinder could offer. The Quest fills this need perfectly. We opted for the GLE (Loaded) ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Quiet, roomy, attractive
Cons: None that we can think of
The Bottom Line: I would buy this van again today without hesitation based on my experience.

When we decided to replace our gas guzzling Dodge Durango in November 2000, we started the search for a Mini-van with an open mind. We were looking for a decent price on a minivan with a 6 cylinder engine and some basic convenience items. Not a luxury ... read more

Feb 12, 2002 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: TV/VCR, rear A/C, removable seat for more cargo room, 6 passenger seating
Cons: transmission problem after 2 years, 3 year battery, poor MPG
The Bottom Line: Recommend for a medium size family (1 - 4 children) for making short to medium range trips. It is convenient also for it's cargo space once the seats are re-arranged.

I bought my Quest in May of 2000. I like the standard features like the Video/VCR console and the rear A/C blower. I was surprised at the problems that I had considering it is a Nissan. These problems include a squealing transmission that sometimes ... read more

Jul 22, 2001 (A Somewhat Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: I have NO pros about this vehicle
Cons: Brakes are a REAL problem.
The Bottom Line: If the Quest is still having problems with the 2000 model. I know I don't want another one. I can't afford the Brakes.

Brakes are a REAL problem. I have had to have MAJOR brake work done every 6 months since I purchased this vehicle. Can not get the dealer to back it up. Took it in 9 times to be serviced and two thousand miles later they still had not looked at the ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: handles nice, good size, comfortable, tv console
Cons: Loud front exhaust, ride could be better, poor service, poor mileage, expensive
The Bottom Line: Its a decent vehicle, but I would look around a little harder next time.

I have owned the quest for almost one year, and it is a dependable car. Its a nice size with room for storage, and yet it handles like a compact car. It is also very good in the snow and the controls and such are convenient and well laid out. It is ... read more

Pros: Luxury, video system, styling
Cons: gas mileage

We recently purchase a 2001 GLE. It is loaded w/roof mounted video. Though we had to sacrifice the sunroof for this video option it is worth it. The van is terrific. Our friends and neighbors are all considering the Quest after riding in ours. It is ... read more

Pros: Rides good on highway
Cons: Front brakes are a constant problem

After 3,000 miles front brakes were grinding. Dealer replaced front brake pads and did rotor work. Had to replace front brake pads again after 11,000 more miles at 14,000. Dealer said that this was probably normal wear and tear despite me saying that 90% ... read more

Pros: Comfortable ride, full size spare, built in VCR, uses regular grade gas.
Cons: HAS NOT HELD UP OVER TIME. Could be a bit larger.
The Bottom Line: After 6 years, I would not recommend this as a used car buy nor will I take a chance on another Quest. It has not held up at all.
