Pros: A Great Blend of Handling, Power, Gas Mileage and Cargo Capacity. Cons: Only a few Saab dealers in the area for warranty work. The Bottom Line: A great alternative to the SUVs and Minivans due to it's power, performance, gas mileage and cargo capacity. Also it is highly rated for reliability and safety.
This review is based on my purchase of a used 2000 Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon with automatic that I have been driving for the last several months. Here is my experience comparing it to other Saabs that I have owned and reviewed here as well: Handling: ...

Pros: Space, pace and rarity Cons: Torque steer, Torque steer, quality
We were in the market for a new car that combined the speed & handling of our Honda S2000 (which we kept), the utility of our Toyota Tacoma (lease is up), and the four door comfort of a sedan. The Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 had the speed but horrible...

Pros: Incredible power, lush interior, ventilated seats, killer stereo Cons: Less than stellar front cup holders, automatic sunroof would be nice The Bottom Line: Drive the 9-5 for the options it offers that no other car offers, but don't put total faith in Consumer Reports' high reliability ratings for the '99 model.
Please be sure to read this entire review before making a purchase decision...I just purchased the SAAB 9-5 SE V6t and know I’ve begun what I hope will be a long-term relationship. I won’t be sleeping around on this beauty of an automobile.
While...

Pros: Performance, Safety, Comfort, Styling Cons: No hatchback offered
Some background, I'm a mid-twenties single male that last owned a SAAB 900S and E36 (previous body style) BMW 328i. I've always been fond of SAAB's but definitely considered myself a BMW-man because of their great sporting nature. It almost seems...

Pros: Capable in snow, Never wanting for power or fun Cons: Not cheap to fix, owned by GM
My families first saab was a 1980 Saab 99 in a kind of Puke Orange with an equally dreadful interior, and a 4 speed (maybe a 5 speed).
I was 16, so you have to imagine the true impact of this car. I went to a school where the motor-heads would...

Pros: Lots of power, great handling, lots of room Cons: Saab quirks (maybe a "pro" depending on your perspective), kinda noisy
Although my regular car is a Saab 9-3 convertible, I had the opportunity to drive a 9-5 Aero recently for a few days while my car was being serviced. To clarify what the difference between the 9-5 Aero and base 9-5s is: the Aero is the high-power,...

Pros: comfort, safety, balanced performance Cons: limited color selections
This is my 5th new Saab and I must say it is the most comfortable and sophisticated Saab I have owned. The drive is comfortable but not too isolated from what is going on. The SE V6t engine does produce a notable engine noise when you press firmly on...

Pros: Handling, engine/tranny combo, seating position. Cons: Cupholder, dash looks like it's from the early 90's. The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this as an upscale, understated, yet FUN car to drive that will keep you feeling young.
I bought a 2000 Saab Aero with a manual transmission about 8 months ago. I couldn't be happier. The car has given me zero problems (as expected given it's high rating in the consumer magazine we all know about that doesn't accept advertisements) and it ...

Pros: Handling, responsive, safe, great body lines, intuitive controls. Cons: Seats are not as "cushy" or supportive as the new Saab's seats. The Bottom Line: Out of 3 Saabs that I've owned, this one is the most responsive to any "cockpit" command. Great suspension, too. Better than the new Saabs in my opinion.
My third Saab. This one (a 2000 9-5 Gary Fisher Edition) is by far one of the best cars I've driven. No hesitation of response in anything you want it to do. Step on the gas, and it goes right away.... put on the "Sports" mode when on the highway in ...

Pros: Comfort, luxury, safety, sportiness, roominess. Cons: Maintenance costs, potential sludge, stubborn Saab service shop. The Bottom Line: Sarcasm: Don't buy it! I like having something different!
This is me 3rd Saab (had a 97 900SE Turbo & 2001 9-5 V6 Turbo Sedan). I've owned three Toyota 4Runners, a Carina II, Celica GT, BMW 528, 74 Wagoneer, 67 Cougar, 68 Impala. I was a German auto mechanic for a few years, too. I picked this USED wagon up ...

Pros: great design, potent performer, efficient Cons: pricey parts, exhaust should be stainless
To most of the car owning population Saab is not a name synonymous with desirability.

Pros: This is one honey of a car!!!! Cons: Seats could be a bit cushier to be more comfortable. The Bottom Line: This is a genuinely fun car to drive and a sporty wagon to boot!!
I rented a Saab 9-5 recently and was duly impressed. The speed and ease of performance was impressive. The overall features were well laid out on the dash and the gas mileage was 24.3 mpg. I liked that the heating system and outlets for the heater...

Pros: Get the balance right. Cons: Hmmm. Let me think about this .....
There are many reasons why I bought the 2000 SAAB 9-5 SE. The looks of the 9-5 are far superior to the 9-3. There is just something I am not crazy about in the design of the 9-3. So I settled on the 9-5.
The 9-5 seems to have achieved a good...

Pros: Quick, Comfortable, and Elegant Cons: Small, Sometimes uncomfortable
I have had the Saab 9-5 SE V6 since April. It is a very sporty, not to mention safe, car. It is quick off the line-- 0-60 in less than 7 seconds. It's got a very high top end speed, and it is surprisingly smooth. It's an aggressive car with an...
