by teamtempest

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very reliable; fun to drive
Cons: No longer manufactured; some minor maintenance unusually difficult
The Bottom Line: If you're in the market for a small used wagon, don't overlook this one

For the past decade or so I've made my living as a courier, delivering small packages in and around ...

Not TOO shabby

by leefromnc

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Polymer Panels, Great Gas Mileage, Station Wagon Configuration, Performance, No Haggle Policy
Cons: Leaky door seals, Suspension intrusion into cargo area, No Haggle Policy, Poor Turning Radius
The Bottom Line: This is a decent car that you will be able to depend on as basic transportation for a number of years. The competition has better models though.

Let me state that just because I do not recommend this car doesn't mean it is bad at all. Now (early 2002) there are a handful of good small wagons on the market in this class that are better choices.

When my wife and I purchased this vehicle...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable for long trips, Loads of space, great gas mileage
Cons: none

Well first off I bought the Saturn SW2 to replace my old Honda Civic about 10 months ago. My parents used to own a '95 Saturn SW2 and I really like how it drove and also the versatility of the car. I do a lot out door activates and so I find the rear...

Pros: Performance, reliability, polymer panels that resist dents.
Cons: Rear windshield wiper.

In September of 1999, I was looking for a vehicle that would handle my lifestyle. I attend college a few miles down the road, and I'm an active reporter for the local daily newspaper. At the time, I had a 1988 Chevrolet Beretta with 152,000 well-earned...

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing, as long as you're not too big.

I purchased my Saturn after my car was totaled in an accident. I never thought I'd be so thankful for something so destructive. I did some major research in regards to the company and was quite impressed by their
5-star safety rating. Then I test...

Monster on CARGO space!

by snapdragon
Dec 21 '99

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Lots of cargo space, excellent pick up, great safety features!
Cons: Back seat can be cramped for tall people, body panels shatter with serious impact

This vehicle was mainly purchased for its space/cargo ability. It absolutely delivers! There is a great deal of space in the cargo area and that increases by a factor of two when the rear seat is folded down! I have never had a problem hauling...

Small Family Car for Small Families

by The_Director
Jun 29 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Excellent mileage. Good maintenance record. No frills, but comfortable and economical ride.
Cons: Not too roomy. Sits low to the ground, so entry is from a squatting position.
The Bottom Line: Buy one if your needs are economy and a little cargo space. 'Round town and shopping excursion users will love this car!

In today's economy of high gas prices and low salaries, economy of transportation is a fundamental need. Most Saturn cars will satisfy this need with a little style to boot. Little, however, seems to be the operative word until you reach the SUV or ...

My most reliable car yet.

by jd_canuck
May 11 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great gas mileage, minimal repairs, utilitarian, fantastic traction control, no body rust, durable finish.
Cons: Tight rear seats for large adults.
The Bottom Line: We will continue to buy. Far higher value than the Honda, Toyota, Nissans we have owned, primarily due to non-rusting body panels which stand up as well as the mechanicals.

I can't say too much about how pleased we are with this, now our second, Saturn station wagon. The first wagon, the 1997 SW1, has proven to be an extremely safe and economical all-round vehicle. I drive early in the mornings over the worst local roads...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Gas Mileage, Reliable, Low Maintenance
Cons: 1 good cup holder, rest are not good, not the most comfortable for people 6'0 and above.

My wife and I decided it was time to get rid of the Firebird and jump on to the wagon due to our little bundle of joy so we looked at the Saturn Wagon and from the test drive we noticed that for a 4 cyl it had good pick up and at the time it felt like it...

Mechanical Problems
by faxrepair
Feb 01 '04
Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No
Pros: Great vehicle if under factory warranty.
Cons: Expect high repair costs after 36,000 miles.
The money that I save with the good gas mileage is wasted on brake repairs. Front disk brake rotors are undersized for this vehicle and wear out in 12,000 miles (city driving) and cost $300 to repair. At 36,700 miles and 7 months out of warranty I'm looking at my 3rd brake job. I drove my prior vehicle for 17 years and only had 3 brake jobs. Questioning the service advisor after the first brake job, he suggested downshifting to reduce break wear ... great advice ... until the motor mount wears out due to the added stress and costs an additional $300 to repair. Last week, I asked my Saturn dealer to look at fixing the rear window washer and correcting an intermittent problem with rough idling. They wanted $1,000 to repair electrical problems for the rear window washer, and to replace a couple sensors believed to be the cause of the rough idle. I paid the diagnostic fees at Saturn, ended my relationship with them, and took the car to an independent mechanic who corrected the rough idling problems for $150 by cleaning the fuel injectors.
