Pros: Mostly Maintenance Free, All-Wheel Drive, Good attempt at combining an SUV and wagon Cons: Not made for anyone over about 6' tall The Bottom Line: The Bottom Line is trying to send power to the wheels that grip from those that slip
Combine an SUV and a car and what do you get? Subaru would hope that you get the Forester, an all-wheel drive (AWD) hybrid that straddles the line between car and SUV and in the end, you get one of the best hybrid SUV/wagons available out there ...

Pros: AWD, retains value, SUV like a car Cons: cup holder, seats
The fact that we own a Subaru Outback and a Subaru Forester probably indicates that we like Subarus! The 2000 Forester L is the newest of our Subarus.
For a while we considered getting a 4WD SUV, but the low gas mileage was a concern....

Pros: Good Acceleration, Suspension, Steering Cons: Cramped Interior, Touchy Gas, Strange Design The Bottom Line: This could be right for a single person on the move, not for large families.
It looks like a wagon, has the suspension of an SUV, and drives like a car. Does this make a good combination? Well, it could. But there are some general flaws which have me a bit disenchanted with this vehicle, which I've been driving for the last...

In Feb. I bought a 2000 Forester S (cold-weather package) after driving a Ford Explorer Sport for 4 years. After 4 months and 10K miles, I'm quite happy with the purchase. I get a lot of the advantages of an SUV (though less of some) without their worst...

Pros: just about everything Cons: cupholders
I just bought a 2000 Forester after pining for a Rav4 for more than a year. Why? It rated better, test drove better and looked just as good. With plenty of passenger and cargo room, it offers plenty of space for a small SUV. Low to the ground, it drives,...

Pros: Good on gas. Cons: None that I can think of yet. The Bottom Line: What are you doing reading this? Go buy your new Subaru Forester. I have even heard that the newer cars are better, if that's possible, than my 2000.
I bought a 2000 Forester "L" at the end of August 1999. I had looked long and hard at many other cars and SUVs. When I took the Forester out for a test drive I knew that this was the vehicle for me. You see, I have had seven major operations on me spine...

I looked at a lot of small SUVs before choosing the Forester. Sure it may not have the sexy looks of some of the other models, but I'm too practical to fall for that. I checked out the Toyota RAV4, the Honda CRV, and the Chevy Tracker. The RAV4 and...
