Pros: Reliable. Brake pads lasted forever (101K) as do tires if gently driven (65K). Cons: fuel milage is awful (18), ergonomics, minor electrical issues, boring, boring, boring The Bottom Line: Get one if you're a smaller person and like going to the gas station often. Boring, but relaible.
Owned since new, now has 102,000 miles. Good relaible appliance with terrible ergonomics for the taller person. I'm 6'2" and have inadequate legroom, have to stretch to reach the radio controls and look through the top 2-3" of the windshield when ... read more

Pros: Still runs like new and minimal maintenance or repairs when oil is changed regularly. Cons: The negative to this vehicle is the location of the oil filter. The Bottom Line: Totally recommend purchase of vehicle.
I bought my 2000 4Runner during the 2000 Clearance sale with only 100 miles on it from the dealer. Of all the cars that I have ever bought, this has been the most reliable and trouble free that I have ever encounter. All that I had to do to the car was ... read more

Pros: It's solid. Reliable. Stylish. Rugged. Inspires envy of those who have lesser SUV's. Cons: The gas tank really is too small. Underpowered for regular HWY driving (4-cylinder). The Bottom Line: Get one. It's the best, most versatile vehicle I've ever owned.
I've had my 2000 4-runner for 2 years, have put 40,000 completely trouble free miles on it (I just rolled 100,000 miles), and can't imagine driving anything else. I have the base 4x4, 4-cylinder model, with manual transmission, and highly recommend it. ... read more

Pros: Interior space, reliability, driving comfort, safety, great for sports Cons: Gas mileage, bumpy ride, tippy on corners, engine strains in the mountains The Bottom Line: If you want a SPORTS UTILITY vehicle (for carrying equipment, mountain driving, off-roading) this car rocks. But be prepared to spend $$$ for gas, and feel tippy on corners.
I spend a lot of time researching my car purchases, and I have some very specific criteria that leads me to my decisions. In this case I wanted a car or SUV that:
- Had EXCELLENT safety ratings (my prior car was a super-safe Volvo)

Pros: Good quality, adequate cargo space, good re-sale value Cons: Not too roomy, gas guzzler The Bottom Line: I'd recommend the 4-Runner because it's a quality car with good re-sale value. Low maintenance, so no headaches here.

Pros: Safety, reliability. Cons: Pricey, small gas tank, truck ride, tough to park in the city. The Bottom Line: Safe, runs well, mostly comfortable, highly reliable.
The Toyota 4Runner has been around since the late 80's, and Toyota has had enough time to get it right. For the most part they do. It's comfortable, safe, and has lots of nifty design things built into it.
We bought our SR5 in late February ... read more

I currently own a 2000 sr5 4x4 4runner and my father owns a 1998 sr5 4x4 4runner. I have the 16 inch tires and find that the ride is much smoother around corners. The drive is smooth and the turning radius is very sharp. I previously owned a Camray ... read more

Pros: Excellent refinement, ride and resale Cons: Sub par gas mileage and price-value relationship
The 4Runner's strong suit is its refinement. Very quiet and smooth for a SUV.
