2000 Celica is a great all-around car

by
Apr 6, 2009 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Looks, fuel economy, massive cargo storage in hatchback, and cruise control WITH a stick shift!
Cons: Blindspot visibility takes some getting used to, and back seat is too small for humans.
The Bottom Line: This is a great all-around car, and I've been very pleased with it so far!

I visited this page and read all the consumer reviews before I bought a 2000 Celica GT in February 2009. As a brief side-note, I'm in disbelief that one of the reviewers was disappointed in the Celica because it didn't stack up to "comparable" Mustangs ... read more

Loved at first... now, bittersweet sadness...

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: looks, features, great gas mpg, handling
Cons: acceleration is terrible, VERY expensive to fix mechanically, lots of rattling noise inside
The Bottom Line: Buy the most recent. They are pretty, but look past its looks. Get a manual GT-S. They are fun beautiful cars!! Mine was great, at first...

I bought my '00 celica GT-S Auto. in may of '05. Loved it beyond words. Now, I can't say that and it breaks my heart. This is a very sharp machine. The features are great. Moonroof, nice sound system, very nice interior (that is what sold me the car), ... read more

Dec 24, 2006 - Updated Dec 26, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Responsive Handling, breaking, sexy exterior look, engine design
Cons: Rear Hatch road noise, interior dash, responsive handling (both pro and con at times)
The Bottom Line: Excellent driver, bit quirky at low revs. Fun & sporty car. I would recommend this car for anyone with a sporty spirit having to use it as a daily driver.

Pound for pound one of the toughest sport compacts ever made. The 7th generation Celica GT-S doesn't pull punches and justifies every penny its window sticker indicated. Few cars can make its claim to 100 horsepower per liter or its 8,000 rpm redline ... read more

Feb 19, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Simply stunning vehicle, tons of options, features. Lots of space and roomy backseats.
Cons: Minor design nuisances.
The Bottom Line: Best entry-level sport coupe on the market. Loaded with options and little touches that really go a long way to show buyers they made the right choice.

I have to be honest. I have the worst luck with cars you could possibly imagine. I have bought a 2001 Tiburon that literally broke down and cost nearly $3000 in repairs only 4 days after being off warranty. My other 2 weren't much better. You can ... read more

Pros: Fun. Practical.
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: Practical and fun, or fun and practical...

It's the best choice for someone wanting sports car fun in a practical and affordable package. Briefly: I get 30-32 mpg driving around town - and that's NOT "conservative" driving. No mechanical problems. No ... read more

Pros: Looks, speed, fun to drive, quality
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: Go for it!!! A great, reliable, fun car to drive

I had a 2000 Celica for 15 months and although I nearly lost my license twice driving the car, it was the best fun I have had in a very long time. In Australia, we import the high powered Japanese models with VVTL-i. These output about 140Kw ... read more

"Looks Fast," but that's all.

by
Dec 18, 2002 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Beautiful exterior design
Cons: Terribly weak, no pickup, high compression engine/no aftermarket, cheap interior
The Bottom Line: It's a great car (if you're a high school kid). If you're a car enthusiast, you will be sorely disappointed.

The first thing that attracted me to this car was it's looks. Granted, I knew nothing about cars at the time I bought the Celica - I didnt know what signicifance turbos, all wheel drive, or 6 cylinder engines had. I practically bought the car on impulse ... read more

Jul 29, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: I loved my 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S...
Cons: until today
The Bottom Line: I still love my car, but I'm angry at Toyota for failing to inform consumers of this problem and letting us get it fixed before there's a problem.

I have been enjoying my 2000 Celica GT-S and have had great fun driving it. It was living up to all that had been said about it... Until today. While on a road trip/vacation that included a 100+ mile drive my Celica developed a Squeaking, squealing ... read more

02' Acura RSX vs. 02' Toyota Celica

by
Feb 1, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Quick, Great handling
Cons: bumpy ride, priced way to high
The Bottom Line: Don't get me wrong, this is a great car. If you are going to consider a Celica, go for the GT-S. Or go with the RSX type-S with 200Hp.

The celica is a great car. When the new body was first introduced in 2000, the GT model had a powerful 180Hp. Since then, they have changed the standards of the car. It is now available in the GT and the GT-S models. The GT now comes with a much ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: handling, speed, looks, reliability, fit and finish
Cons: cost, quirky engine, blind spots
The Bottom Line: Think of this as the replacement for the old Mitsubishi Eclipse, except with Toyota quality

So, are you looking into getting a nice sport coupe? Check out Toyota's snazzy new celica! Think of the 7th-generation Celica (year 2000+) as the spiritual successor of the 2nd-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse(1995-1999). (The 3rd-generation Eclipse ... read more
