Pros: Sharp looking, fun to drive, and an overall excellent family car. Cons: The bumper-to-bumper warranty was too short. The Bottom Line: Volkswagen used to have the saying "Drivers Wanted". Now I know what they meant. Drive a Volkswagen Passat and you'll see why, too.
The first epinion I penned was a so-so review of my 2000 Jeep Cherokee (which I have updated, using my Epinions "knowledge" that I have learned over the past year). It was received with mostly Helpful ratings...

Pros: High Quality fit and finish, Smooth Turbo Engine, Fun to Drive. Cons: Higher price tag than the competition, Small Back-Seat, Limited Configurations Available.
I recently visited the local Volkswagon dealership and test drove a 2000 VW Passat GLS. The Passat was among the 10 cars that I was considering. Another car that I was considering was the Audi A4, which is built on the same...

Pros: Great Drivers Car Cons: Passengers Not Wanted
One day, I stopped in at the local Audi/Volkswagen dealer to see what they had hanging around the lot. I've been looking for an older Audi A8 for the new family cruiser. Finding no A8, my eyes started wandering. Then, on the used end of the lot, I saw a...

Pros: Fast, lotsa torque, smooth engine and awesome manual transmission, large interior Cons: Interior wearing fast, expensive maintenance The Bottom Line: Great car with outstanding engine, transmission and handling characteristics, if you don't mind premium for maintenance
For a long time in our family, we’ve had a main car that my wife drove, and the secondary car, usually a beater, that I drove. That changed slightly about a year ago, when we decided, right before the fuel prices shot up, to sell our GMC Yukon, and ...

Pros: Trendsetting styling; smooth-as-silk motor; excellent ergonomics and interior styling; reliable; manual transmission available with V6. Cons: GLX trim level is expensive; crappy battery; underpowered compared to competition. The Bottom Line: Mechanically it's an Audi A4. Superior safety. Other manufacturers have jealously copied its styling.
Excellent interior, handling is properly sharp and "German". If only it had more horsepower...
The VW Passat, starting with the 1999 model, started a styling trend that the rest of the mid-sized sedan market segment is still imitating. What makes it so special? THE CAR I BASE MY REVIEW UPON I bought a 2000 Passat (GLX trim, i.e. ...

Pros: So many great features included... Cons: Slightly cramped in the rear
In August of 1999, I had the opportunity to drive around in a '99 Passat GLS. My grandfather had recently purchased his third Passat since 1994, and was very happy with it. Note that the only differences between the 1999 and 2000 Passat are minor...

Pros: Looks so Good, Handling, Grip, Great V-6 Cons: Uhhhh....... The Bottom Line: Buy this car ! The Passat 4-Motion is a thinly disguised Audi. The Passat is smooth, fast and GREAT looking. Be careful with options, the price jumps up quickly.
VW is making some great looking cars. It started with the New Beetle and moved on throughout the entire Volkwagen line. The Passat is by far the biggest, baddest, best looking VW you'd ever want to know, add the all-wheel drive (4-motion in VW...

Pros: Driving Quality, Features, Style, Value Cons: Cup Holders, Requires Premium Fuel, Lint attracting seats
After owning a 2000 Passat for 9 months it's time to add another opinion on the quality of this Audi in disguise.
Last March my wife's 1989 Corsica died, leaving us scrambling to purchase a replacement. Fortunately we had been planning on...

Pros: Good looking, fast, smooth, fun to drive, awd available Cons: Reliability...? And the cupholders, too. Oh, and the dealer as well. The Bottom Line: A great car for those who want to rise up above the "average" family car.
The story all starts on one fine summer day last June, when my mother's Dodge Caravan died for no reason (again) in traffic. This was perhaps the third of fourth time it had happened in the previous two months. She was fed up with it, and I think more...

Pros: Powerful, versatile vehicle with lots of interior room and great performance. Cons: Small item storage. Stock Tires. The Bottom Line: A solid, reliable, very quick German sport wagon with many virtues and no real vices. The VR6 engine is a delight!
When the lease ran out on my Dodge Intrepid ES, I started shopping for its replacement. As usual with me, the first criteria was legroom as I stand 6'7". I also wanted to continue with a car that had good handling and power and, because of the nature...

Pros: Reasonable price for what you're getting Cons: VW doesn't have the name that Audi or BMW do
Having finally finished graduate school, I was in the market for a new vehicle. After examining several options, including the Audi A4, VW Jetta, and the lower-end BMWs, I finally decided to go with the VW Passat GLX Sedan. I have owned the car for...

Pros: German Engineering, High Quality, Awesome V6, 4Motion, Quiet and Refined, Unbelievable Support Network. Cons: Slightly lower gas mileage with 4Motion, Interior Rattles (fixable), Can't stop driving it and smiling, sometimes stupid VW commercials.
When my wife and I were looking for a new car, we had a few criteria: we wanted a car (not an SUV), we wanted something that performed well but wasn't a sports car, and we wanted all-wheel drive. We live in an area where the winters can be harsh and...

I've been a Volkswagen owner for over 35 years, having purchased my first Volkswagen in Germany in 1964. This was a Variant, which lasted a long time, in fact there are still some on the road today. This year I purchased a new 2000 Volkswagen, station...
