Pros: Style, comfort, back seat access and room Cons: Gas mileage, what else? The Bottom Line: A sharp looking truck for family outings or Home Depot trips.
I got my truck in October 2000. I have driven 26K miles without a hint of trouble. I have the 4 X 2 Quad Sport, black,V6 auto, with stabilizer and wheel package. With two kids, we needed a reasonably sized back seat with decent door access, and this was...

Pros: Excellent handling, great acceleration, roomy interior. Cons: Short bed The Bottom Line: If you want extra seating, great ride, great performance and drop dead good looks, this is the truck for you.
I traded in a 2 year old Ram 1500 Quad cab with a 5.2L V8 for the Dakota and have never regretted it. The Dakota rides better, handles better and with it's 4.7L V8 produces more horse power and out performs its big brother. With the full size 60-40 rear...

Pros: Excellent power, good handling for a truck, nicely sized between huge and tiny Cons: Stock open differential, not as smooth as it could be shifting The Bottom Line: It's a good all around truck for everything from your average driver to a muscle car enthuasist!
I love my Dakota! The biggest beef I have is the lack of a standard positive traction rear end with the V8. A posi would have done more for the power of tha V8 than an open rear. Having come up with muscle cars, the V8 was a must, but it still lacked...

Pros: Performance, comfort, styling Cons: rough-pavement "jitters" The Bottom Line: I sold my first Dakota (a 2000 model regular cab) after only 6,000 miles- but the new 2001 extended cab will be around for a long time!
I couldn't believe I was about to buy my 2nd Dakota after getting rid of my 2000 model in only 6,000 miles- but I'm so glad I did!! Here's the story...
Though never a "Chrysler Man" I was seduced by Dakota's new styling and the "mid-sized"...

Pros: It's the perfect size with great handling Cons: Gas mileage The Bottom Line: I would definitely consider this truck if you have a second family car to shuttle everyone around in. It's an all-around great truck.
In April of 2001 I ordered a 2001 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab 2WD V8. I absolutely love this vehicle. A few years prior I worked at Warren Truck Assembly in Michigan (temp hire) where the Dakotas and Rams are made and was fascinated by the truck (I had ne ...

Pros: Nice looking, good handling, fast acceleration for a truck, plenty of options Cons: gas mileage, passenger leg room The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a truck but not heavy-duty, the Dakota is the truck for you. It's a beautiful truck that drives like a car (except for gas mileage).
I'm a very proud owner of a 2001 Dodge Dakota. I've owned the truck for a year now, and it has been great. It rides very nicely. Handling on the truck is great too. When the truck is all cleaned up, it looks beautiful! The sport package that I...

Pros: Faster than 5.0L R/T Club Cab. Corners nice. Cons: Seating somewhat smaller than you'd expect.
It's great to drive. V-8 power allows it to cruise without a whimper. Has the Jeep V-8. Sits up a little higher than the 4-banger models, but a bit lower than the 4x4's. I customized it with StreetGlow Xenon headlights and driving lights. Lights now have a blue/white appearance in the dark. Size is more versatile than a full-size'd truck.

Pros: Cab space, smooth ride, power, looks, options... Cons: None
Researched the mid-size pickup market for months before I was able to find the right pickup for the right price - a 2001 Dodge Dakota Sport Quad Cab. I can honestly say that I have no regrets about purchasing this vehicle. It has been everything I have read, seen, heard, and then some.
Go with the 4.7L V-8...you'll be glad you did. I get 18-22 mpg on the highway and 14-16 mpg in town. Not too shabby if you ask me. If your worried about your gas mileage then go buy a Ford Focus (no endorsement), get your 35 mpg and trying hauling a couch or a lazy boy and then tell me what you think.
This truck drives as close to a car as a 4X4 pickup can...the cab is a little noisier then a car (due to larger engine) but it takes nothing away from the smooth ride. There is even enough room for 3 average sized adults in the back.
I could go on and on but bottom line is if you want the best of all 3 worlds (car, suv, pickup) choose a Dodge Dakota quad cab.
