Pros: Cheap to maintain. Great fuel economy. Superb handling. Cons: Sluggish manual transmission. Loose clutch. ZTech is nothing special. The Bottom Line: A to B transportation with style and little expense.
I bought a used 2001 ZX3 with a 40K mileage to replace my tired out Honda Civic. I drive the vehicle a lot and put over 10,000 miles on it in less than four months. I promised myself I would never buy a ford again after a bad experience with a Tempo in ...

Pros: Looks nifty, extremely peppy, comfortable, roomy, smooth drive, good gas mileage Cons: Have to get used to the small rear window The Bottom Line: A super nifty car that is too fun for words.
I've always been a loyal customer of Ford when it came to buying cars, and last year when I moved home from New York City to North Carolina the first thing I had to do was get myself another car.
Of course, I went to my local Ford dealership...

Pros: Easy on gas, quiet comfortable ride Cons: ABS/AC optional, visibility The Bottom Line: There were several things I needed in a new car and the Ford Focus has not only met my needs but also exceeded my expectations from a small car.
I needed a vehicle with enough room to seat 4 people (2 in car seats). Four doors was something of a must as the extra 2 doors help to make the process of buckling in youngsters go a little smoother. I also wanted something that would be easy on gas as...

Pros: Fit and finish, very good handling, excellent creature comforts Cons: Anemic engine/tranny combo, price
Ford's new Focus is a car that doesn't try to be
all things to all people. It's got lines that
you either love or hate, and style that is
unique, if not truly ground-breaking.
In my case, I liked the styling of the ZX3...

Pros: Nice looking car, lots of fun options Cons: Lots of electrical breakdowns that the Ford dealer's can't pinpoint The Bottom Line: I wouldn't recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a safe and reliable car.
After researching different types of small to mid-sized cars earlier this year, I decided that the Ford Focus was definitely the type of car I wanted for myself. It was only a little bigger than my old car (a 1989 Dodge Omni), it had a ton of fun new...

Pros: 2.0L DOHC 16V Zetec engine (different from base engine), great handling, different looks Cons: Power windows/locks are located in a weird and awkward position The Bottom Line: Recommended for those who like sporty compacts and have children to haul around. :)
After finally getting rid of her problematic 1999 Chevy Cavieler, my sister went shopping for another sporty compact. After looking at various models of the Pontiac Sunfire, Focus, and other sporty compacts, she decided on a brand new Cloud Nine White...

Pros: Feels powerful, handsome exterior, great low end torque Cons: 110 HP 2.0 SPI engine, funky standard stereo The Bottom Line: When in doubt, rent. Peppy, but there are other alternatives you should look out for at the same price. Possibly recommened it if higher trims are any better.
Ah yes... behold... another rental car review. :)
With my Sentra SE in the shop (don't worry, just a little fender bender), I now get a chance to review another car! This time, it is the Ford Focus LX. (Although it doesn't say so in the...

Pros: Class leading handling, ride, forward thinking design, safety features, overall completeness of package Cons: Styling maybe a bit too wacky for some, some quality glitches The Bottom Line: Simply the best small hatchback in the world
Launched in 1998 as a joint replacement for both the European and US versions of the all conquering Escort, the Ford Focus has swept all before it, scooping up both the European and North American Car of the Year awards. Designed by Ford's European...

Pros: Roomy and solid at a great price Cons: Cruise control is a little temperamental The Bottom Line: An economy car without that "economy car feeling".
For the past 20 years almost, I've owned nothing but economy cars (I started out with a 1984 K-car and worked my way up to a 1997 Toyota Tercel). So I know what I'm talking about when it comes to compacts.
I don't actually own a Ford Focus,...

Pros: Outstanding value, handling, ride quality, interior room. Perfect reliability Cons: Mediocre power, mileage could be better. The Bottom Line: Fun to drive, as reliable as you could hope for, great value... What's not to like?
***UPDATED!!! 10/20/2003*** Well, I am sad to see the Focus go away, but it is time to trade up. Actually I have ALREADY traded up, but still have the Focus. It will be leaving me soon and I still have nothing but good things to say. Below is th ...

Pros: Great design, handles well, drives like a dream, spacious interior! Cons: Update: driver's side seat not meant for long trips - see update below. The Bottom Line: Just updated review regarding trip we just made.
Spacious interior, even for back seat passengers. Offers ample leg room for back seat guests as well as seat belts which include the shoulder harness, not just the old lap belts! You can fit three passengers comfortably in the back seat too.

Pros: Great Handling, Sufficient Power when needed, Very Efficient, Nice Stereo, Roomy & Comfortable Cons: Cruise control buttons not illuminated, Rear-view Mirror hard to adjust The Bottom Line: Ideally suited to singles or couples with no or small children. Ford nailed this market!
Ford really nailed their target market with this car. My wife and I are extremely pleased with this car.
When I went looking for cars after my ex-car died I expected the only cars in my price range would be super tiny and have no features,...

Pros: Sporty look and feel, roomy trunk, many standard safety features, low cost option packages Cons: Slightly small interior, 2.0L engine could be increased for more power The Bottom Line: Despite a small interior, the Focus proves to be a reliable, sporty, and economical way to travel.
So you’ve finally broken down and decided to buy a new car, that beat up old Honda Accord from 1988 isn’t doing it for you anymore, and while the three-colored motif may turn you on, it can hardly be considered a chick magnet. Given your experience with...

Pros: Handling, size, options. Inexpensive. Cons: Seat belts uncomfortable, blind spots. The Bottom Line: Excellent car for first time buyers. Powerful, inexpensive, roomy, and loaded with options.
This is a review on the Ford Focus ZX3. At the bottom I have included reviews as the years have gone by owning this car, the original review has been unchanged. Although I test drove other Focus models, I purchased the ZX3 and can therefore ...

Pros: Savvy styling, Zetec engine, sharp handling, smooth ride. Cons: Noisy, some quality control issues. The Bottom Line: A great car with excellent road manners for not a lot of money (used).
I purchased my Focus used. It's a 2001 SE 4-door with the optional Sport package (includes tachometer, leather steering wheel, spoiler, fog lights and the nice Zetec engine). Mine also has antilock brakes, power windows, automatic power door locks,...
