Pros: Responsive, roomy, robust. Cons: Firestone tires (for now); access to rear area is a bit tight. The Bottom Line: Excellent for general cargo hauling, yard work, and other around-the-house chores.
The first half of 2001 has been a season of dramatic change in the mkp51 household. As our family settles into our home in mid-coast Maine for the long haul, after traveling around the world for the better part of a quarter-century, we’ve steadily been...

Pros: If my Dad didn't have the Ranger, I would have to think about it. Cons: A few little things. But it's a great truck. The Bottom Line: I'm glad I can borrow a truck from my Dad. If I didn't have one, then I would want the Ranger Extended Cab 4 x 4.
My Dad has always been a pick-up man. I never gave that much thought, until I moved away. Then, I noticed all the times that a truck comes in handy. It really gets old trying to find a friend with a truck to carry home big items like bikes from...

Pros: A Cadillac of smaller trucks Cons: Poor visibility The Bottom Line: I recommend this truck to anyone that is looking for a little truck with all the extras.
In the last few months we decided to say a tearful goodbye to our 1996 Ford Ranger XLT. Oh all right, maybe it wasn’t that tearful. I was ready for something new!
Upon arriving to the car dealership we didn’t know what to expect. We...

Pros: Reliability. Ground Clearance. Sex Appeal. Cons: 3.0L needs a few tweaks. Seats are a bit uncomfortable on long trips. The Bottom Line: I'd do it all over again. I love this truck. You can't beat the reliability, performance and good looks.
I bought this truck used back in 2003. I've always been a Chevy man but this truck changed that in a heart-beat. The Engine (Reliability) The 3.0L engine has always had the power to do whatever I ask. It's not quite as powerful as the 4.0L but ...

Pros: Good ride, good quality, dependable Cons: Programmed keys
My husband recently traded our 1996 B4000 Mazda for a 4 door Ranger V-6XLT 4wd. We loved the Mazda but it was getting lots of miles on it and wanted something new. The Mazda and Ford are the same vehicle basically and we knew we had good luck with the...

Pros: Great handling, vastly improved interior Cons: Powertrain needs work, no 4.0 with a stick, bad wind noise The Bottom Line: It's not as much of an improvement over previous years as it could be. Wait until the total redesign in 2003 to buy one.
OK, I finally went and did it! I took a test drive in the redesigned version of my truck. I guess I was kind of happy to be blissfully ignorant there for awhile. I was so in love with my '95 regular cab Ranger that I didn't want to have the myth...

Pros: Sterdy Ride - Roomy interior - Sharp looking Cons: Gas mileage - controls The Bottom Line: Seems like a truck put together with the left over metal from the Excursion. Nevertheless - very nice ride - good vehicle. Needs improvements
Fresh out of college - I ended up at the "world's oldest Ford dealership" hoping to get myself into ...

Pros: See below. Cons: See below. The Bottom Line: A standard-setting truck. An unbelievable deal, demonstrating great quality, reliability, and durability with all the bells and whistles. The financing can't be beat...Sweetest ride for the money.
I bought this truck after *exhaustingly* researching and driving numerous other 4WD vehicles...Namely the Jeep Cherokee Sport, Subaru Legacy and Forester, Nissan Xterra, and Ford Escape. Basically, I wanted a fairly inexpensive 4WD vehicle to get me...

Pros: Value, build quality, resale Cons: 3.0 V-6 needs more umph The Bottom Line: Until the competition catches up, is there another choice in a compact truck?
Real Truck people know whos got it in the compact class, most would agree nobody but nobody can touch Fords Ranger. Although the Japanese may have an advantage in car sales they remain on the outside looking in when it comes to...

Pros: stylish looks, powerful V6, all the options Cons: cannot race at every green-light or you will buying gas every other day. The Bottom Line: Make the Ranger a must see if shopping for a Small SUV or pick up. Handles better and is much cheaper than its foreign counterparts.
I love it!! My truck has a great look and definitely turns heads. I trade in a 95 Ford Explorer Sport 4x4. I have to tell you that I already miss the full back seat.
My two daughters like riding in the back but I can tell the novelty will soon wear...

Pros: Power, Improved seat, load handling, Cons: Rear seating, narrow bed
This is my 4th Ranger since 1984. Each has been better than the last. This Ranger replaced my 1996 Ranger supercab with the 3.0 V6. Finally the Ranger has some power and better handling. The 96 replaced a wretched 94 4 cyl. model with zero power. The...

Pros: The American Truck for the Everyday person. Mobility and Acceleration and Ride Cons: The worthless back seats...hmm??? The Bottom Line: This truck maintains the good name of American made. Strong and nimble like the Ford name.
The good thing about this truck is that it can run on natural gas. If you are a Save-the-Earth activist (i.e. tree hugger), this car is the ideal car. Natural fuel burns a lot cleaner the octane fuel, I just don’t know how much that runs for (I would...

Pros: Power, Roominess, Fit-and-Finish, 4-Wheel-Drive, It's a Ford, Reliability, Roughness Cons: All other bad reviews about it The Bottom Line: Strong for reliability, power, and everything imaginable. Drive one, but don't think it'll' be a ride in a BMW. It isn't, it's a TRUCK! Treat it like one.
Recently, I bought a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 Off-Road 4.0-liter V6 with the stepside-bed. It was slightly used with 23,000 miles. As a college student, I owned a 2003 (bought in 2002) Ford Focus ZX3, of which I loved for its gas mileage and handling. ...
