Pros: Terrific handling, cute affordable car Cons: No clock! The Bottom Line: It's a great car for the money.
If you read my review on how to buy a car you know that my daughter was given money for college graduation to buy a new car. She chose the 2001 Hyundai Accent. I test drove the 2000 and the 2001. I also drove it home, which is about an hours ride...

Pros: cheap, fairly stylish Cons: loud, little power, new car had problems The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a new car at a used car price, there are better options than the Hyundai Accent.
My recent trip to Ireland facilitated the need for a rental car - more than a sub compact car (my mother did not know the meaning of "light luggage") but less than something full size. While I'd hoped to end up in an Opel Astra or something...

Pros: Inexpensive, Great for temporary uses. Cons: Entry/Egress somewhat difficult The Bottom Line: Great in an emergency or for very short commutes. Everything else on the road looked dangerous enough to squash this little car like a little bug!
Any Port in A Storm: Considering the constant barrage of ads for armored cars aimed at the family, the adventurous lady, the hopeful youth, the road bully, the dog; it is strange how easily any of the above can consent so readily to driving a...

Pros: great price, gas mileage & warranty. Cons: Short on power, some minor design flaws. The Bottom Line: For a budget-conscious buyer, the Accent is a great value.
In September 2000, I bought my first new car, a 2001 Hyundai Accent GL Hatchback with a manual transmission for about $9000. Since then, I have been more than satisfied with this little car. Because I spent less than $10,000 for a spanking new car, I ...

Pros: Spacious, impressive looking exterior and good handling. Cons: Interior is rather cheap looking. The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this car as it's easy to drive and comfortable to be in.
With uni, a job and a child, it was time to get my own car. So, in June 2004 I dragged my long suffering dad along to help me buy my first car. It had been a long time coming. I was 17 when I passed my test and being nearly 20 I thought it about time. I ...

Pros: A great little car with a little price tag Cons: The rear windows don't open The Bottom Line: I recommend it because it's a solid, nice handling, sporty looking car with a nice balance of power, at a low cost.
I think that the best way to start this is by saying that in 1994 we needed a car desperately. We couldn't afford anything big or fancy so somehow we ended up with a Hyundai Excel. It was cheap, new and suited our needs. As things turned out, it was ...

Pros: Price, Sporty look, fuel efficiency Cons: Spotty transmission The Bottom Line: This is a good car with some sporty detailing. Overall reasonable car for commuting, but nothing terribly flashy.
I bought a used 2001 Hyundai Accent back in January through a private sale. It was to replace my recently departed 1999 Hyundai Accent, which was written off in an accident. I decided to stay with the Accent for the sake I had gotten into a high speed ...

Pros: Good lumbar support and cargo space when the rear seat is down. Cons: The worst reliability and warranty service I have ever experienced. The Bottom Line: My recommendation? No. I bought this car thinking I'd save a few thousand over a similar toyota or honda. I've more than lost that in repair bills and time.
For the purposes of this review, I'll assume that you're thinking about buying this vehicle used. I purchased this car with 27,000 miles on it two years ago and have driven it 13,000 miles. Highlights No 2001 hyundai accents, base model or not, ...

Pros: Solid handling, drivable in L.A. traffic, spacious trunk. Cons: Noisy engine, revs high esp. during mild acceleration. The Bottom Line: Great value, especially with Hyundai's best-of-industry warranty.
During my recent trip to Los Angeles, I decided to rent a subcompact car from Hertz. Although I was hoping for a Ford Focus, I ended up with a 4 door Coastal Blue Hyundai Accent GL with only 2800 miles on the odometer. I was able to appreciate the...

Pros: Value and fuel saver Cons: Need more POWER
Recently my girlfriend picked-up the New Accent by Hyundai. For under $10,000 is a descent bargain compared to a Honda Civic and Toyota Echo. For under 10G's she got AM/FM and A/C, "got to how A/C," and the 5 speed for a good bargain.

Pros: Low Price
Lots of Features
10 Year/100,000 Mile Warranty Cons: Only average acceleration
Car can be cramped for larger people The Bottom Line: Don't overlook this deal, especially for the single person, this car can handle most everyday city needs.
I'm a 20-year-old college student that didn't want to invest the time into researching and repairing a used car. The accent was the perfect match for me. On the service side, I've had my accent for 9 months now and had only one problem with it. About a...

Pros: Roomy, comfortable, nice to drive, excellent on gas, and safe. Cons: Not horribly powerful. The Bottom Line: There might be better cars out there, but you won't find a comparable one for the price.
On May 8, 2001, I bought my first Hyundai Accent. I based my purchase on the only criterion I've known to be useful. I couldn't find one for sale in the used car ads. That's usually a good sign. It was a GS model, tricked out with A/C, CD player, and...

Pros: Price, looks nice. Cons: Low on horse power, front wheel drive. The Bottom Line: Probably the best economy car out there in this price range.
Finally an economy car that doesn't look like a sawed off rolling sh*t box. (Toyota Echo drivers and Geo Metro drivers you know who I'm talking to.) The first thing you'll love about this car is the PRICE. These have to be the most affordable used ...

Pros: Pocket rocket, Honda-like quality, better than US brands. That warranty! Thieves ignore it. Cons: Initial problems (covered), cheap details, low clearance, rear strut covers, no ABS, low resale value. The Bottom Line: If you're buying one now, try to get one with low miles, and it could keep you happy for years!
We have a 2001 GS hatchback. We bought it new. After 5 years, we only have 35k miles on it, so we haven't given it average wear. I bought it because the fit and finish and the way it handled reminded me of my Mom's Civic hatchback, which has been a ...

Pros: Very few repairs. Rocks with gas mileage. Peppy little booger. Cons: It's small. Not good in snow. Surface rust on engine components seems high. The Bottom Line: Great, inexpensive car. Not the most luxurious, but an awesome economical choice.
I was a Honda enthusiast for years and never thought I'd change. The year I was looking for a new car, Honda stopped making its Civc hatchback. I ended up opting for a new (technically used - flagged for leasing, had 40mi) Hyundai Accent which was ...
