A New "Sporty" S-Type

by cujimmy

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A new look Sports model from Jaguar
Cons: Could have been improved more than it has.
The Bottom Line: This is a classy car, as are all Jaguars, but has missed the mark a little in trying to appeal to younger drivers.

~ ~ This new sports model from the British manufacturer Jaguar, the S-Type Sports, made its first public appearance at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy in December, 2000.
This is the car that Jaguar (now a Ford-owned subsidiary) hope will endear them...

A car for the heart more than the head

Pros: Looks, wood, leather, ride, handling
Cons: Mushy transmission.
The Bottom Line: If you don't love the looks, it's not for you.

I bought a certified car from the dealer with the V-8 engine. It had less than 17000 miles on it, and it looked new inside and out. I have now owned it for almost a year, and I still love the way it looks, feels and handles. Buying the Jag was more ...

Pros: Handsome appearance, creature comforts, stylish interior
Cons: Over-priced, poor brakes- I mean you need to throw anchors overboard!
The Bottom Line: Like a beautiful looking woman with curves in all the right places- but it has a "headache"

Pros: effortless steering, great handling
Cons: price, power, value for money
The Bottom Line: Great car but unknown reliability. Would buy it used in a few years when prices drop below $35 K.

Cadillac and Motor trend sponsored an interesting test drive weekend at Stone Mountain in Atlanta.

We signed up for a 2 hour slot.
We got to drive:
* Caddys (Seville STS, DeVille DTS, Escalade, Catera)
* Lincolns (LS,...

Pros: beautiful to look at, handles and accelerates very well, gets stares from fellow drivers!
Cons: pricey! Crummy customer service!
The Bottom Line: It drives extremely well. Worth the money, but service is really poor.

Well, it was given to me as a surprise gift from my husband. If this is a Jag aimed at younger people, then it worked since we are both 32 (at least, we think we are young). I've only had it for three days, but so far, it has driven like a dream. It ...

Pros: Wonderful steering and breaking controls, and a smooth ride.
Cons: It is not very roomy in the back seat
The Bottom Line: The Jaguar S-type is a beautiful, comfortable, and luxurious car, and I would recommend it to anyone.

The Jaguar S-type is a beautiful car. It has great steering and breaking controls and is a joy to drive. The front seats all have Lombard support, which feels wonderful on your back. The safety features are also outstanding. The car is built well and it...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth driving and good handling
Cons: eats the gas and has bad suspension
The Bottom Line: In my opinion I would rather buy a caddy.

I was earlier given a job rating cars at a car dealership in my home town. They recently got a stock of the new Jaguar S-Type. I was very impressed in the overall performance of this vehicle but I realized when going over speed bumps that the...

Jaguar S Type, best option

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Better than Mercedes or BMW
Cons: Staring of people
The Bottom Line: It is more than a car. Best I ever had, and full with gadgets.

I use to own a BMW 528, and checked the new models form BMW as well as Mercedes. Finally I decided for the S Type. The craftmanship is so good, that an armory company told me that from all the cars they had armored, this is the best craftmanship. The...

Cloud 9 Got a New Look

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Feels and Drives like a dream
Cons: Deviates from the Jaguar look a bit, and well... PRICE TAG!
The Bottom Line: Although it is not a traditional XJ Jag it is an increadible car and should be highly considered for someone looking for a luxury car.

Ever since Ford took over Jaguar the cars that have begun to be produced are more reliable and more luxurious than ever. The S-type is one to fit directly into that mold. It clings to the road as it drives and you feel nothing, no bumps, not even small...

Best looking of the mid range luxury cars

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Beautiful Stlye and Class
Cons: Braking
The Bottom Line: This is a great car if you are planning on leasing, I would buy it however as there is too much deprecation.

I feel the thing that set the Jaguar apart from the BMW 5 series and MB E-Class is it's looks. It's definetly the best looking and the drive doesn't disappoint. We test drove all 3 before deciding on the S-Type. It doesn't handle quite like the BMW...

Not worth it, sadly

Pros: Looks great. Seats are pretty comfortable for long trips.
Cons: Just about everything. Reliability, performance, handling and price.
I always liked the Jag and knew it was not a very reliable car, but the reputation for quality service was there. Not the case in my experience. I went through 2 powersteering units, a pair of ball joints, pieces falling off the undercarriage, a broken caliper etc. and I never found a decent place to have my car serviced. The one exception was Laurel Jag in Laurel MD. The trunk was miniscule.

The car was noisy, the ride was rough and the performance was mediocre. To top it off the worst experience was anytime I had to deal with Jaguar credit. The end of my lease was a nightmare and I was way under the mileage limit.

All in all a BMW for the same price or less is much more fun to drive, quieter and at least as reliable. A Lexus is much more luxurious, more comfortable and very much more reliable.
