Pros: Power, balanced chassis, tuned for off-road, supportive front seats Cons: Unsupportive rear seat, rough interior, steering and brakes feel unresponsive in on-road driving The Bottom Line: A tight solid package with a balanced chassis and torquey engine. Probably great off-road. Lacking in rear seat room, interior quality, and luxury feel.
Ever since SUVs became the hottest part of the vehicle market, everyone has jumped in. These days you can buy SUVs from just about any brand. Even Porsche, which has never even produced a sedan before, will offer an SUV soon. But some companies have been ...

Pros: large-format vehicle, good power, above-average construction Cons: mediocre gas mileage, cramped cabin, below-average handling The Bottom Line: If you're dead-set on an American-made SUV, it's better than the Durango. I'd fork over a few extra $ for a 4Runner to get better quality and resale.
I got lucky this time -- the Enterprise office didn't have the vehicle class I'd ordered, so instead of giving me one of those puny Ford Escorts again (see my review of 12 March), they let me take a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Little did they know how...

Pros: Fast, Goes Anywhere, Visibility Cons: Reliability, Handling, Room, Lack of Features The Bottom Line: This is not a practical vehicle for most, due to its handling, room, and reliability problems.
Jeeps are known for their rich military history, and for their ability to handle any condition thrown in front of them. They have been a fixture on the off road circuit for years, and you can't go far anywhere in the United States, without seeing ...

Pros: Gorgeous, sporty, light ride, fully loaded. Nice size compartments. Cons: My engine light is currently on. It sucks gas. It stalled a few times. The Bottom Line: This is fun for an active family or single person. Good if you love Jeeps but do not want a huge vehicle.
You can see me coming from a mile away! Driving and singing along to the cd player like Corky Romano in my mini-hummer, my new, old 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport in Banana Yellow. We call it the Yellow Submarine! :) Look out orange cones, you've got ...

Pros: It is a Jeep all the way. Cons: It can be a bit hard to fit into a tight parking space, if you live in a large urban area.
Every Fall, I anxiously await the unveiling of next year's new car models. This fall was no exception. I have always loved the feel of riding in a Jeep, and so it was with much anticipation that I drove into my local Jeep dealer.
I...

So, with the challenge of June being writing a car review, I thought I would try it out and tell you all about my 2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4x4, with 4.0 Liter Inline V6 engine. The one I have is in white, just like the one pictured here on Epinions, ...

Pros: Sturdiness/security, drive through anything
Styling Cons: Hope the reliability keeps up
Gas mileage should be 20% better The Bottom Line: Excellent stylish rock solid SUV with plenty of creature comforts.
We bought a new 2001 Laredo I6 selectrac loaded with leather and the upgrade Infinity stereo. I do not usually tow so based on a few friends recommendations went with the 195hp "big iron brute" Inline 6 cylinder engine and shiftable selectrac 4WD - ...

Pros: Nice interior, smooth ride, lots of extras Cons: It's a Jeep, poor handling, not enough power, poor gas mileage The Bottom Line: I wouldn't ever buy one, I'm glad I only rented!
I recently rented a midsize car in Reno and I got a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee instead. Quite a deal, huh? See this review to see how this happened.

Pros: Large cargo area, Powerful engine, Great handling, shift on fly 4WD, It's a Jeep Cons: Cramped cabin, Noisy on highway, bland interior The Bottom Line: Cherokee Classic is affordable, rugged, powerful, large cargo area, and handles wonderfully. Noisy at highway speeds and a cramped cabin. My first choice for a full size SUV.
This is my second Jeep, the first being a 79 CJ-7 which I have been driving for 17 years, has 120K miles on it and has never, I say again, NEVER had a major mechanical breakdown including engine, transmission or transfer case. So, with this...

Pros: Everything. Cons: Except for the spartan interior, poor stock tires (goodyear) and poor radio.
In 1983, AMC (jeep) released the first Small, 4 Door sport utility vehicle anywhere, and completely reinvented the 4x4 market. In 1999, this same vehicle is still one of the most popular SUV's selling; and though it created the market, it breaks all the...

Pros: Timeless styling, durability, value Cons: Limited space The Bottom Line: A good vehicle if you need 4WD. Jeeps are durable and reliable. If want a more "refined" 4WD, check out the Grand Cherokees or those offered by a different manufacturer.
We just traded our 2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited for a van, needing space for our growing family. This was the second new Cherokee we owned and parting with it was not easy. We owned this vehicle for about 1 1/2 years, covering 18,000 miles, so this...

Pros: Options, Comfort, Power Cons: Only seats four
First, I should tell you that I didn't even want this Jeep before I bought it. I test drove one and I liked it, but I thought I was too tall and it was too expensive. My wife and I spent a couple of weeks talking about it and finally we decided to get...

Pros: That fine Jeep tradition. Pretty powerful for a V6, surprisingly nice to drive. Cons: Amount of leg room in the back, kinda loud especially when the a/c is on. The Bottom Line: If you want a SUV that handles and will give you a truck like drive then this is your truck. I highly recommend this truck
Well this was the last hoorah for that boxy, traditional Jeep Cherokee that we've all grown accustomed to in our lives. The 2001 model was the last in production as the Cherokee gives way to the brand new Jeep Liberty.
I purchased my vehicle...

Pros: very responsive transfer case and transmission, keeps off-road ability while being soft as silk on the pavement with great bad-situation handling Cons: 6 cylinder needs about 20 more ft-lb torque and about 20-30 more horsepower, go for the V8 if you can. Also, backing up can be a challenge for the uninitiated.
I went from a 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport (4x4) to a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (4x4) and I'm loving every minute of it! I bought the vehicle because of the amount of room it has in the back to place my daughter and any extra camping supplies or...
