A fine ride

by
Oct 1, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Quiet; Smooth; Fairly strong, especially at highway speeds; Classy; Luxurious interior
Cons: Heavy (which may help with smoothness); Small for large people; Depreciation
The Bottom Line: I recommend this vehicle to anyone who appreciates a nicely refined car but doesn't have to have a luxury car name.

I purchased a new 2001 Millenia S (with the Miller Cycle S-Charged engine) in August 2001 and logged 26k miles. I always wanted one and it was what I hoped for. It is the smoothest and quietest car I driven in and I'm including some models of Lexus and ... read more

Great as a Used car

Feb 11, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Styling, Comfort, Sound System, Ride
Cons: Resale Value & Ergonomics
The Bottom Line: Pleasure to drive and I would highly recommend it as a used car.

Nice styling, excellent comfort, good road manners and the appointments you'd expect to see in this class. I found the 210 Horse Power engine to be sufficient for the day to day driving, however more zip would be helpful when passing on a grade. ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Powerful acceleration, driver seat adjustment for firmness, lots of trunk space, radio control on steering wheel.
Cons: Could do w/o center visor, gas guzzler, cramped rear seats, rear window air noise and OVERPRICED!
The Bottom Line: I would recommend the 01 Millenia based on the updated features such as driver seat control for back support and steering wheel radio controls. Also very low maintenance.

The 2001 Mazda Millenia has an excellent sleek and super sporty design.Mazda could have done without the new standard rim design which exposes too much of the autos braking mechanism. Which results in obvious rusting overtime from exposure to the ... read more

Disappointing

by
Aug 1, 2002 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Looks pretty nice, has a fair-sized trunk
Cons: Lack of ergonomics, poor fuel economy, lack of space, poor performance, expensive
The Bottom Line: After 1200 miles, a big disappointment. A lot of money for something that you can find much better executed from almost any other brand. Poor ergonomics, performance and comfort.

I recently drove the Millenia as a rental for about a week and 1200 miles. Being an "upgrade" from a standard full-size rental, I was expecting a good ride - however, I ended up being very disappointed. I'm assuming, the car being a rental, that it was ... read more

Pros: Nice build quality, excellent range of standard features...
Cons: Underpowered and over-heavy, MSRP is way too high so they are constantly discounting...
The Bottom Line: A nice car that when discounted appropriately is a steal, but an MSRP of $30,000 is high for the package you get...

The Mazda Millenia S was on my short list of autos when I looked at purchasing a new 4-door sedan this past year. I eventually purchased a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE (review posted) and I am sure you can tell by the car I ended up with what some of my basic ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A lot value for the price. Thoughtful design. Excellent finish work. Powerful. Quiet.
Cons: Tight rear seat. Some air leakage sound from one of the rear door windows.
The Bottom Line: Excellent luxury car value for the modest price. Would almost certainly be a good acquisition if you can find a used low mileage one now.

After reading the thoughtful reviews here on epinions.com, I decided to take advantage of the $4K rebate on 2001 models and purchased a Mazda Millenia. Purchase price after rebate was $23K. Folks, you're right ... this is one whale of a value! It ... read more

Pros: styling, handling, price
Cons: weak engine, bland interior
The Bottom Line: The Mazda Millenia is a solid car and offers consumers a good combination of performance, styling, luxury for the money.

I recently had the opportunity to drive a Mazda Millenia for a week while on a vacation. Mazda originally intended to position this car as the entry-level car in a new luxury division to take on the best Japanese (Lexus and Infiniti) and German ... read more

Pros: Sporty Exterior, Comfortable ride, Easy to operate controls
Cons: Pricy, Lack of oomph
The Bottom Line: Should be a consideration for potential buyers of a Passat, Camry or Accord.

First impressions was that this is a very nice and sporty looking car. I had never really paid much attention to the Milennia before and was quite surprised to find out the car was a Mazda when I first got in. The interior struck me as luxurious on ... read more

Pros: Lots of luxury at a great price.
Cons: Lack of popularity reduces the resale value.
Mazda's attempt at a luxury vehicle using the Mazda name was essentially a market failure. Buyers of used cars are the winner here. The Mazda Millenia is every bit as luxurious as a Lexus with great styling. But the price you will pay is nearly half ... read more

Cons: headroom, premium fuel, lacks wheel locks, discontinued, no nav, no rear fold-down
I helped my ex-boyfriend buy a Mazda Millenia S a few years ago. It was a 2001 model that we were purchasing in December of 2001. Because of the year-end sale we got a new car for $26,000, a complete steal. It stickered for $34,000. In my opinion, the ... read more
