Pros: Sharp looking, great acceleration (when working!) Cons: Absolutely unreliable. Stalls. Gas mileage problems. Typical ford/mazda fit and finish problems. The Bottom Line: Don't get it. It's a sexy truck, but looks aren't everything.
[ Please note, from talking to other people, the problems here also apply to the 2002, 2003, 2004 models ] I bought my 2001 Mazda Tribute LX shortly after they were first released. I did not want leather seats, so I went with the LX 4WD instead of the ...

Pros: Excellent handling and driving characteristics - when it runs. Cons: Poor reliability. The Bottom Line: After 2 1/2 years of ownership, the car has been in the shop over 10% of the time. Buy only if you enjoy poor short/long term reliability.
OK. After 2 1/2 years of ownership the jury has reached a verdict. This first year version of the 2001 Tribute is not worth its weight in scrap metal. Our vehicle has had numerous problems culminating in a complete engine/transmission failure on...

Pros: good pickup, reasonable gas mileage, good sound system Cons: unsteady ride, NOISY, surprisingly little room for the big interior space The Bottom Line: better options out there ...
Having been a big fan driving a friend's Ford Escape, I was looking forward to "car-sitting" for a friend and her Masda Tribute for ten days. While not as sporty as the Ford Escape, it still is a stylish vehicle from the outside and I was considering...

Pros: Perfect size! Strong Engine. Cons: LOUD. VERY LOUD. The Bottom Line: Very disappointing, the Tribute needs some serious sound deadening as well as fit and finish refinements. Engine and tranny seem to be struggling.
Since the lease on my three year old Jeep Grand Cherokee is due in about two months, I've started looking at alternatives. I've owned or leased Jeep GC's for over eight years now, and wanted to find something new, and the Mazda Tribute was high on my...

Pros: Zoom and Room!! Very stylish, handles very well, great ABS, capable in snow, too Cons: Obvious wind noise, more little rattles every day. VERY irritating. The Bottom Line: If you want mine, it's for sale. May try out the Saturn VUE. I've never heard a bad word about a Saturn.
I've had my Tribute since 9/23/00, have taken it on several road trips, and drive it 45 miles RT every day to work.
It's very stylish--much more attractive than Mercedes or Lexus SUV.
Other pluses:
ZOOM: Wonderful...

The Tribute was my dream come true; for 3 days. Everything I was looking for in an SUV at a great price. ES package, the works for under $25K. I drove away a happy woman relishing the power, response and wonderful ride in the sportiest looking SUV on...

Pros: Handling, Acceleration, Interior Space Cons: Noise, Somewhat Bland Styling The Bottom Line: The Tribute is a sporty, fun SUV that you can live with everyday. Excessive road and engine noise are its main drawbacks
The race to build the best midsize SUV is well under way and some clear front runners are emerging. The new supercharged Nissan Xterra, the Hyundai Santa Fe, and the Mazda Tribute/ Ford Escape are by far the best in their class. Two years ago, many...

Pros: sporty, good acceleration, comfortable seating Cons: feel of the ride, no incentives
When my wife finally succumbed to her SUV bug, we went to check out several models. The first one we looked at was the brand new tribute. It looked nice, and was comfortable to sit in. The problem came when we drove it. I sat in the back seat while my...

Pros: Good size, great features, low price Cons: reports of bad parts, hard to get The Bottom Line: Its a great car for the right price, I would wait until all the problems are fixed
This car really is all any one who wants a SUV vould want. It is larger than most of the SUV's out now but smaller than the huge trucks everyone is driving. It has all the bells and whistles you could ask for , 4 wheel drive, cd changer, moon roof, power...

Pros: power handling Cons: seats, shifter, stalling The Bottom Line: Besides fuel smell and stalling still love it waiting for fix then will update
I recently purchased a tribute lx from a local dealer and I have to say it was the best purchase so far that I could have ever made. The suv handles comparably to a sports car just higher up. It has plenty of power and I have not even got on it...

Pros: versatile, powerful for it's class Cons: loud, tinny interior, questionable mileage The Bottom Line: I wish there was something this size and shape that felt a little tighter and rode a little quieter, but gets the job done -- get it over the Escape.
Okay ... I've had the car about four months now and have logged about 5000 miles to date. Mostly, I've driven it in and around my city, Eugene, Oregon (there are about 150,000 people in the area and it's a college town). I've taken up the mountain a...

Pros: great overall value Cons: very bad fuel economy The Bottom Line: If you find a used 2001 for a great price good mileage I would highly recommend it to families of 3 or 4.
I have been driving this car for the past 2 years and I'm quite happy with it. The ride is smooth, the car handles well and it's great for a ride out with the family.
Some of the down sides of this SUV is the fuel economy. The Tribute seems to be...

This is my second new Mazda and the quality has been awesome. The Tribute is the best vehicle for the price and packages offered.
