If you really want to play, you've got to get serious

by mkaresh mkaresh is a Lead on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10
Oct 24 '00 - Updated Feb 01 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Styling, Mercedes solidity, at least they're trying
Cons: Weak engine, lousy instruments, rear seat comfort, quality?
The Bottom Line: Needs to be sportier to truly take on BMW.

I know what I like. I like compact sedans with enthusiastic six cylinder engines and slick manual transmissions. Unfortunately, there are few such cars for sale these days. The only American car that fit these criteria in recent memory, the Ford Contour ...

After the diet, new S-Class looks (and handles) mahvelous

by mkaresh mkaresh is a Lead on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10
Oct 29 '00 - Updated Oct 14 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Exterior styling, handling, driving position, room
Cons: Interior styling and usability, a little lacking in luxury feel, pricey options
The Bottom Line: Much more enjoyable to drive than the Lexus, but interior spartan compared to the competition.

When word first leaked out that Toyota was developing a car to challenge the best from Mercedes, the automotive world scoffed. No Japanese company could ever match the engineering and heritage of the fine Europeans. Then the LS 400 appeared in the fall ...

SLK320: Great car for Tigger, but you want the Z3

by mkaresh mkaresh is a Lead on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10
Nov 01 '00 - Updated Oct 14 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: steel roof, very competent chassis, smoother engine than the 230
Cons: low seats, tall dash, bouncy ride, not that much fun to drive
The Bottom Line: Nifty roof, but the ride and handling aren't there.

I drove a pair of Z3s recently, and even the base model was a blast. To give Mercedes a fair shot at my aspirations, I ventured over to the MB dealer to check out the SLK. Knowing what tends to make me happy, I asked if they had a 3.2 liter, 6-speed ...

Not a Driver's Car

by mcsstokes
Aug 17 '04 - Updated Aug 18 '04

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Nice looks, love the hard top, good prices on late model used
Cons: Terrible handling, poor knee clearance, not a sports car by any stretch
The Bottom Line: Great looking car, would have bought a used one had the road test not been a huge disappointment. Not a sports car and doesn't come close to passing as one.

I'm not sure how this review will be received...but since I know there is a big market for used SLKs, I thought I'd write a review from the perspective of somebody that looked at picking one up. My review is based on my experience of having driven ...

Pros: Incredible handling
Cons: Will not seat more than 5 comfortably

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: V-12 power, endless luxo-features...
Cons: Price.
The Bottom Line: Awesome, super, ultra, comfortable front seats!!!

Many automotive journalists have already lauded the 2001 Mercedes Benz S600 sedan as the best sedan in the world. And after only four days with this car (I wish I had it for longer) I find it very hard to disagree with the majority.

This new...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Everything. Super luxo. Refined. Mercedes' best yet.
Cons: Nothing worth mentioning.
The Bottom Line: Unbeatable on several levels. Superb engineering and quality. Fits like a fine leather glove.

There are many good luxo cars but only one MBZ and one S class to be sure. It doesn't get any better than this with the possible exception of the newly redesigned S class. I considered several luxo cruisers until I made the "fatal" mistake of driving ...

Incredible Vehicle, Flagship Mercedes-Benz, But Not Like They Used To Be . . .

by lilviv
Mar 17 '07 - Updated Jul 04 '08

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Flagship Mercedes-Benz, Incredible Performance (Power, Handling, etc.), Unmatched Comfort, Commanding Road Presence
Cons: Expensive Maintenance, Not As Distinctive As The "Olden Days", Lacks "Heavy" Feel
The Bottom Line: This car is the epitome of comfort and performance, and it delivers a commanding road presence. Highly recommended.

When I was 11 years old (1991), my father got a 420SEL . . . the smaller engine (larger was 560SEL) of their flagship sedan. Even then, I knew that car was something to aspire to, it was incredible. The car was rock solid, felt boatish, and caught the ...

Pros: Smooth, quiet, comfortable and gets 25MPG at 85MPH (30MPG at 70). Mercedes prestige.
Cons: Expensive to maintain. Mercedes prestige.
The Bottom Line: A very comfortable touring car regardless of size, that also gets good gas mileage and has a history of durability when properly maintained. Its a Mercedes Benz!

Here is it, take two on my Mercedes Benz C240 review. I will first discuss what led me to purchase a 5-year-old Mercedes, how the car compared with its competition (both old and new), and finally, how it is to live with the car. I am a new attorney ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Price, styling, handling, trunk, acceleration
Cons: Interior could be better, premium gas, poor standard tires, radio
The Bottom Line: This is such a quality car for the money. You will not find a better car in this class. "If you have the means I highly recommend picking one up!"

My father just bought this car a couple of weeks ago. It is just a beautiful car, a sparkling silver color. Perfect for a graduation gift this spring, dad! Hehe, yeah right.

I have driven this car many times since my father got it and he...

by revco98 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000
Dec 10 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Both are amazing vehicles from Mercedes and BMW
Cons: none at all

Here we go, I finally get to write about the 2001 BMW M3 (which is one of the automobiles most anticipated to hit the streets soon). I finally found the car I wanted to compare with the stunning M3: the Mercedes Benz C32 AMG. Let's get...

Baby S-Class Still Aspires To Become A 3-Series Someday

by jbratek Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000
Nov 03 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Excellent value for the money. Standard V6 engine (finally!). 6-speed manual transmission available (C240 only). More fun to drive than the outgoing C230.
Cons: Sport package option is compromised. No 4Matic option (yet). Sunroof, premium leather, Xenon headlight options should be standard equipment. Options quickly raise total price much higher than the well advertised $29,950 base MSRP.

Unlike the upper segment where the Mercedes S-Class is widely regarded as the benchmark to beat, the entry-level segment of the market has long been dominated by the BMW 3-Series as the benchmark model. In my estimation, this phenomenon is rooted deep in...

Pros: CLK55 AMG outshines previous models in every aspect.
Cons: CLK55 AMG makes any other CLK model about as worthless as a '77 Ford Pinto.
The Bottom Line: Essentially, the CLK55 AMG makes any other CLK model about as worthless as a '77 Ford Pinto.

Mercedes-Benz has done it again for the 2001 model year. The newest product in the CLK-Class, the elegant CLK55 AMG, outshines previous models in every aspect. Essentially, the CLK55 AMG makes any other CLK model about as worthless as a '77 Ford...

Scratch my car and you die.

Mar 25 '01

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Mercedes Benz, Suspension, Luxurious, Features, Roomy, Comfortable Front Seats
Cons: Rear Passenger Seats A Bit "Tough", Driver Seat's Headrest decreases left rear side view.
The Bottom Line: Truly excellent ride if you have the bucks, best choice of SUV's.

"Scratch my car and you die", I said to my friend staring at my car. I must agree, it is quite odd to see a 17-year old with such a car. I drive a 99' Toyota to School and to work, a Chrysler Van to deliver furniture, and the Mercedes on the...
