Pros: Somewhat smooth 200 horsepower Duratec V6 engine, refined interior over its predecessor. Cons: While the previous Sable had maybe "too much style" this year it's lacking. The Bottom Line: Want a family sedan you can afford? The Mercury Sable is right a safe go, but avoid the 3.0 OHV vulcan V6, Just ask your dealer.
There really isn't anything too exciting about the 2001 Mercury sable. It comes standard with an anemic 3.0 153 horsepower OHV V6, but is also available with the semi-smooth 3.0 DOHC Duratec power-plant. Despite the 2001 Mercury sable's ...

Pros: It's fast, it's flashy, it's fairly priced...it's flawless! Cons: External appearance could be more unique The Bottom Line: The Sable is truthfully the best car for the money. Combine a classy large car with a sleek, somewhat sporty, quick car and you have the Sable!
Unlike some of the other reviewers of this car... I actually own one. So my opinions stem not only from a first impression, but from a few happy months of ownership and maintenance.
Why I Bought a 2001 Mercury Sable:

Pros: Comfortable ride, great acceleration, very good handling, and very solid Cons: LS requires 6 disc CD-changer in trunk, minor wind noise into cabin The Bottom Line: I would certainly recommend this car to anyone looking for a full size family sedan that is fun to drive with room to spare. A terrific value.
Back in 1987 I purchased the first version of this car, the Ford Taurus, which was a good, reliable family sedan. The 2001 Sable LS Premium was leased new in December 2000. My initial impression was one of familiarity with the Taurus, but the current...

Pros: Attractive Styling. Very Good Exterior Fit and Finish. Cons: Disappointing Interior. Base 155hp 3.0 V-6 Seems Weak. The Bottom Line: The Sable is an attractive car with good exterior fit and finish. However, the interior is hardly as nice as the exterior. Go for the 200 hp 3.0 V-6.
My 1994 Cadillac Deville was rear-ended by a woman in a 2000 Buick Century two Thursdays ago. I rented a 2001 Mercury Sable GS from Enterprise while my Caddy was being repaired . This is my experience.
The car I rented is finished in Silver...

Pros: Stylish European looking exterior; gentle ride/suspension; excellent maneuvering. Cons: Although interior is comfortable, it could be more appealing. The Bottom Line: Other than a few needed refinements in the interior, the 2001 Mercury Sable is definitely one of the best buys for the money.
The exterior of the Sable is very breathtaking. It is very stylish with an European flair. Many have complimented my car on how luxurious it is......and some have even asked if it is a Jaguar (because of it's rear end shape). When this vehicle was...

Pros: Solid car, good price, quiet ride Cons: Not the most advanced car you'll find in its class The Bottom Line: A solid dependable mid sized car thats short on frills but high on the important things.
My wife recently leased a 2001 Mercury Sable. She traded in her 1996 Ford Probe. We have a 10 week old and the Probe was not practical.
The Sable is a solid car. I was quite impressed with the 24V DOHC engine - it really moves. The car was...

Overall, I'd say that driving the car was a great experience. It had nice acceleration and a smooth ride: 80 MPH felt no different than 40 MPH.
There were a couple of...

This car is a great handling car.
