Pros: FAST, SMOOTH, PRETTY, Powerful engine.
Cons: Transmission poor! HARD TO WORK ON!
The Bottom Line: Buy car used with 60-75 mile. Flush Transmission & place transmission cooler. Pray Torque converter does not fail. Great car when it runs.

This review borrows much from a fellow Galant owners review. IT WAS AMAZING how similar our stories are. NUMBER ONE THING TO KNOW -> Galant 2001 3.0L have AT problems.. specifically a failing Torque Converter. I got my 2001 Galant ES V6 in ... read more

by
Aug 4, 2007 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: No

Pros: I got a really good car with 105K miles on it for just $4K
Cons: Average Galant quality is significantly lower that that of Accord of Camry
The Bottom Line: You can get a good Mitsubishi, but it is a matter of careful choice. I would still recommend Toyota - their quality is better.

I am a big fan of Japanese cars: I do not care about the looks, all I care is quality. We just bought 2001 Mitsubishi Galant with 105K miles on it and I want to share my experiences. The Car Mitsubishi Galant is a flagship of Mitsubishi cars ... read more

Nov 15, 2006 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Sporty, Sleek, Stylish, Comfortable, Value
Cons: Slightly noisy, lack of performance options,
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to someone who wants a cheaper midsize slightly luxury car. Small families in mind, and college students or first time car-owners.

So, I bought a used 2001 Mitsubishi Galant ES V6. I am going to stick my neck out there and say it's one of the best cars that I have driven, in it's price range ($30,000 is going to buy you a lot of nice!) I bought the car with 95K miles already on ... read more

Pros: BMW Styling for a Mitsubishi Price!
Cons: Horrible resale value, soft paint, and soft metal.
The Bottom Line: Great car if you buy used!

Well I got my 2001 Galant ES V6 in November 2000. It was a beautiful Kalapana Black with tan interior. The 3.0L V6's in the Galant has 195HP that is extremely well balanced in this car. It ran like silk and then like a monster when you needed it too. I ... read more

Pros: Good looking, comfortable on trips, good mileage, trouble free.
Cons: CD skips after long use.
The Bottom Line: A good value for the dollar and very reliable.

I bought my first Mitsu the Fall of 2000, a 2001 Galant. For the buck, I couldn't find a better car. It looked great, ran great, had good reviews and was a lot cheaper than a Toyota or Honda of the same size. The car has been trouble free. The only ... read more

May 20, 2003 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Looks great and very quick.
Cons: Poor seats, ride and noisy.
The Bottom Line: I bought it on looks and performance. Not much else going for it.

The car looks great from the front and sides, the rear must have been designed by somebody else. Its very fast, 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. But, its very loud, the tires roar and drone and the engine roars over 3k rpm. The sports suspension is ... read more

A Galant Ride

by
Nov 11, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Handling and maneuverability; great pick-up (V6); good headroom, even in backseat; low maintenance costs.
Cons: Not much legroom in back; maximum 4 passengers; rubber trim pieces tend to come loose.
The Bottom Line: Outstanding maneuverability. I have put 23,000 miles on mine, and aside from oil changes, I have spent only $160 in maintenance costs. I would definitely buy another.

Lots of features come standard in this car, which makes for a nice value for the price (new). This car takes curves and corners better than any car I have driven. Color selection is pretty standard, although I have had MANY compliments on my Huntington ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Very comfortable to drive, especially on long trips.
Cons: Transmission and brakes are terrible!
The Bottom Line: I will never buy another Mitsubishi again. When I buy a new car, I expect it to be trouble-free for at least the first couple of years.

As far as comfort goes, I haven't owned a better car. But, I am very disappointed with the quality in some of the components of the Galant. At 47,000 miles the transmission started to shutter between gears. I took it to the Mitsubishi ... read more

The Bottom Line: The best car I ever owned. (And to date I've owned 15+) I LOVED IT.

I LOVED THIS CAR. In April 2001, my husband and I decided that with the rising gas prices in our area our best decision was to sell my 1998 1/2 ton Chevy pickup for a car. At first I was hesitant because I would no longer have 4 wheel drive, we live in ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Cool styling and good power.
Cons: No front legroom!
The Bottom Line: if you are under six feet tall, this is an exceptional buy. It has more style than an Accord, Taurus, or Camry.

I have owned my 2001 Galant ES for four days now. I love the BMW styling and the fit and finish. Exterior: Beautiful lines. Interior: It has a clean interior with a lot of gimmicky buttons. My only complaint is the lack of legroom ... read more

I did a lot of homework before I even went to the dealerships. We needed a second car for my wife and I didn't want to buy something like Corolla or Civic. We could afford more expensive cars and I gave a shot to BMW 325i and Mercedes-Benz C240. After ... read more
