Pros: Tasteful package, wonderful engine, delightful handling Cons: Suspension a bit lacking in refinement The Bottom Line: A unique, fun-to-drive package. A bit heavy on the plastic inside, though.
If there is a genuine article among Japanese sedans, it is the Maxima. So many Japanese sedans are either striving hard to be middle-of-the-road bland (Accord, Camry, 626, etc.) or to be just like someone elses car. Even the new Lexus LS 400, the ...

Pros: Very good at high speeds Cons: Pathetic low end acceleration The Bottom Line: this is a sportscar disguised as a family car. Respect the Maxima
The Maxima was the first car I topped the 140mph barrier in a couple of years ago. At the time I was very impressed that it could get to that speed.
Well, the time came to evaluate the new 20th Anniversary SE Maxima since my brother decided...

Pros: Big, Fat, Powerful Cons: Too Big, too fat, and everything else. The Bottom Line: Buy it if you want big, fat, and intended for old people quality.
I was going to modify Frost's poem about diverging in some woods and taking a path less travelled but I felt it would be less of a tribute and more or an insult in a review about a Nissan Maxima. Before I wrote about my love of this car but now that we ...

Pros: Smooth ride, tight suspension, premium sound, many options, awesome look Cons: low clearance makes difficulty driving in snow The Bottom Line: Highly recommend this vehicle. No recalls on this yet. Quality and 100% satisfied with vehicle. Great manufacturer name.
WOW! That's what I have to say about my 2001 Nissan Maxima SE. Let me tell you that if you haven't experienced a sporty sedan, this is the one to at least test drive. I am a former GMC Truck owner and loved that vehicle. I downgraded (as truck owners...

Pros: Good engine and transmission, fuel economy, assembly quality, structural rigidity. Cons: Price is too high, car is too heavy The Bottom Line: The 2001 Maxima is a solid car and a good choice if you like its styling.
The best part of the Maxima is the engine. The 3-liter V6 produces 222 hp at 6400 RPM and 217 lb-ft of torque at 4000 RPM. Some magazine publications call this engine one of the best engines in the US.
The engine has short stroke...

Our Car Shopping Experience
I remember when my husband and I bought our first family car - a Buick Skylark. We walked into the dealership and paid the full sticker price! I can't believe we were that naive! We have learned a lot in the 21...

Pros: Roomy, good acceleration, styling Cons: Nothing really The Bottom Line: The car has been fun to drive.
When my wife and I were shopping for a new car, I had a few requirements. First, no mini-van or SUV. That said, we wanted a sedan, but I wanted it to have a sporty look, roomy interior including backseat legroom as my son is nearly 6 foot tall. Also, it...

Pros: Rocket-ship thrust from the V6, excellent build quality, reliability, and resale value Cons: Not a thing The Bottom Line: If you're seeking a reliable, practical car that is also sporty and fun to drive, strongly consider the 2001 Nissan Maxima.
Not too long ago, I parted ways with my '98 Chevy Lumina. A terrific car, it accomplished its mission and got me through my poor days of college. As great as it was, the Chevy was hardly a driving enthusiast's delight. I have always loved the Nissan...

Pros: Excellent Engine, Nice size, good quality, good options Cons: Styling might not be to some peoples tastes, Rear suspension outclassed The Bottom Line: You want a sportscar but need room for kids but cannot afford the new BMW. Its features coupled with its value make it a standout as a midsize sedan.
With the fairly recent redesign of the Maxima, Nissan has once again created a incredibly sporty car in a Toyota Camry type package. The Nissan's jewel is its engine. Its a smooth nice sounding V6 with 222hp. Hooked up to a nice 5pd manual and you...

Pros: Best looking car in its class, best V6 Engine, Roomy(even for road trips) Cons: Nissan Body Paint, Stock Potenza tires, Suspension, Low-End torque, heavy car, MPG, NISSAN-SERVICE-DEPT-IS-THE-WORST!!! The Bottom Line: I higly-recommend this...but if you want-a-really fast-car then this is not it...no turbo is avaible for this Maxima but you can buy a supercharger @ www.stillen.com.
First off I was 18 years old when I bought this car. And I picked this car over a BMW because I wanted something different to "FIX" up, since everybody & their mother in my neighbor hood drives a BMW.
I bought the car May '01 & started having...

Pros: engine, roomy, style Cons: recent mechanical problems, too big to be truly sporty The Bottom Line: Great car to lease. Long term ownership may be expensive.
After graduating college and finding a job where I could finally afford a decent car, I set out to buy my fantasy sports car, within means of course. How did I end up with a Maxima? Good question. In late 2000 I was drooling over two GM muscle cars, ...

Pros: Powerful, capable, luxurious car. Cons: One of the pricier cars for its class. The Bottom Line: I love my Maxima. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
As soon as the new Maxima came out in 2000, I absolutely had to have one. Still a poor college student, I was forced to wait. But in 2001 I finally bought a Maxima GXE, and it's everything I ever wanted in a car.
First, there's tremendous...

Pros: Acceleration, Interior, Looks Cons: None that I've seen yet The Bottom Line: Great vehicle overall that can compete well with vehicles a class above.
First off, let me state for the record that I'm not a gearhead. I'm a software developer, and demand virtual zero maintenance out of my vehicles, like most lazy Americans.
That said, my Maxima has been my dream car. I purchased it in Chicago...

Pros: Smoked tail lenses GREATLY improved look for '01; HUGE trunk Cons: Gas mileage, bose stereo sound from the backseat... The Bottom Line: Sporty, sensible, slightly overpriced (for a few thousand more, we could've had a Mercedes or BMW...)
We've had our 2001 Nissan Maxima SE since late December '00, and we love it. Its only competitor for us was the Audi A4 Quattro. It's was the same price in the end, but the trunk was just too tiny (if we put our double stroller in it, that was all she...
