No fireball, but a very pleasant SUV

by mkaresh mkaresh is a Lead on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10
Jun 08 '01 - Updated Aug 02 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Strong engine, solid construction, spacious cargo area
Cons: Cramped rear seat, requires premium fuel, slightly tippy handling feel and slightly jittery ride
The Bottom Line: The Pathfinder feels like a truck, but a refined truck. The new engine still does not lead the class in power but is a vast improvement over the old one.

Normally I’m not very interested in SUVs, but the recent infusion of horsepower into many vehicles in this segment has gotten my attention. The Nissan Pathfinder was a case in point. For years the Pathfinder barely got by with a 3.3 liter six that ...

Pros: Heated, adjustable, reclining seats.
Cons: Small back seat for adults
The Bottom Line: This has proven to be a great, safe family car!

My sister needed a new car. Her husband had basically picked out their last three and she felt it was her “turn” to pick one out! She also did not want to pick one blindly and begged for my help! You see, we are twins and while she inherited all the math...

Nissan 2001 Pathfinder - I Love It!!

by mountainhigh Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50
Mar 02 '02 - Updated Apr 24 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth off road ride, spacious cargo area, sunroof, powerful engine
Cons: Premium gas, front recovery hooks
The Bottom Line: I am so spoiled with my Nissan Pathfinder that I don't think I could settle for anything less. I would highly recommend this vehicle.

Owning four 4-wheel drive SUVs is not a luxury to us but a must where we live. We live on the top of a mountain that has a 1 mile long uphill graveled driveway that you access from another primitive gravel/dirt road about 5 miles from a town with a...

I have been mulling over this subject in my head for the last few days. Are SUV’s truly driver’s cars? Or are they only for those who yearn to find outrageous paths to the supermarket? Surely, give an SUV and a car in any price range, and ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Durability, Comfort, Options, Quick for a SUV
Cons: Headroom, Premium Gas, Misc.
The Bottom Line: Looking for a SUV, look no more, for the price you get near luxury and reliability to go along with that.

My wife and I just got married and I was driving the better vehicle, so she wanted a new one, just kidding. She was driving a Saturn at the time, I still own my Pontiac, which was better :) Anyway we live in New York, his past Winter was not fun for...

I decided to purchase the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder XE 4WD as my 2nd car. I really wanted an SUV very badly, and I was considering giving away my Nissan Maxima. I really love Nissan and their cars, true Japanese road masters. Though when I was looking for...

Pros: Powerful Engine!, Practical Refinements and Features, Extremely Nimble for an SUV
Cons: Tight in the back for adults, Cabin is noisy during rainstorms, Insurance Cost

The 2001 pathfinder is a perfect melding of sport, luxury, and ability. I have owned this vehicle for 3 months, and so far I could not be any more pleased with the comfort and versatility this car has espoused. All of my buddies were quick to tell me...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth, car-like ride; extremely reliable; versatile; perfect amount of room
Cons: Some mechanical problems as noted above, but nothing major; low mileage; large turning radius.
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this as a used car purchase - just don't ask me to sell you mine because I am keeping it!

I bought my 2001 Pathfinder LE when it was 3 years old with 48K on it - at a price tag of half the original retail value when new. What a great deal! I've put 40,000 miles on it in the past 3 years, and enjoyed every minute of it. The car has taken me ...

An SUV that lives up to its name

by audiboy
Dec 27 '01

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A great combination of power and amenities
Cons: poor fuel economy
The Bottom Line: The best combination of features, power and value in any SUV that is currently available.

The first major decision that my wife and I faced after getting married was buying a new car. We live in Colorado and wanted a dependable 4wd vehicle that was fun to drive. We shopped all models of SUV's and narrowed our options to the Acura MDX,...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Power, handling, cargo space, utility
Cons: Gas mileage, tire changing
The Bottom Line: This is an extremely versatile, comfortable, powerful vehicle that can do it all. If you're looking for an SUV look no further.

When I started looking for SUV's I was very limited by the fact that the vehicle I wanted had to have a 5 speed manual transmission. Nowadays the choices are limited in this respect. I narrowed my choices to the Nissan Xterra and Pathfinder. I test drove...

Pros: A great driving smooth stable ride.
Cons: This thing is an expensive gas killer.
The Bottom Line: A great smooth ride that is expensive but stylish and comfy.

My brother just brought a new 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. I dont usually like SUV's I think they are two lane wide huge gass eating machines. The Pathfinder has many of the qualities, but it also has so much more that I find impressive. This is a true...

Best value in import SUV

by sirdavidalot
May 02 '01

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Looks, power, well-designed interior, smooth ride. Opportunity to deal on price.
Cons: (Premium) gas guzzler, no auto-locks, leg-room questionable for tall drivers.
The Bottom Line: Until Honda comes out with their version of the new Acura MDX, this is a best buy in the near-luxury SUV market.

I'll let you in on some of the reasons my wife and I went for the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder LE.

1. Price - While the sticker price can really get up there, you should be able to get a Pathfinder for at or below dealer's invoice (the dealer will...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Powerful, plenty of low end torque
Cons: Loves gas too much
The Bottom Line: This SUV has so many features for the price. The only thing missing is an Ejector Seat.

In October 2001, I purchased a brand new Nissan Pathfinder LE fully loaded.
I am not going to write statistics since those are available in different magazines and websites.

The Exterior
1. It is very classy, nice rounded edges, and...
