Pros: rugged good looks
handling
cargo space
Nissan dependability
Good audio system
acceleration and braking Cons: Hidden storage
Fuel economy
Fuel gauge - hard to see The Bottom Line: Unheard of! A SUV that's fun to drive. Liked it so much I bought a second one.
I'm not much SUV person, but the Xterra I bought, is the exception. Previously, I have owned a 2001 Ford Expedition which I didn't like and a 1995 Toyota 4Runner, a good dependable vehicle, with drawbacks. Some background: My seventeen year old ...

Pros: Steel ladder frame!, Solid ride, remains solid!, rattle-free, very reliable, excellent engine Cons: Needs a locking rear differential badly! The Bottom Line: Get one
... if it had to be the only car for my entire life that is. :) No I didn't buy the xterra because it looks 'cute' or 'hansome'. I bought it because I wanted an SUV that was not oversized, made by a Japanese automaker, and most of all, had a TRUCK ...

Pros: Roomy and beefy; fortified with strong hardware; equipped with rails to carry bikes etc Cons: V6 is kind of not sufficient for all the hardware!
Nissan knows how to appeal to the young, hip crowd of generation X. Its engineers based their design on the 2000 model which has been a hot item so far. They only had to improve it just a little and add a few extras to it. The Nissan Co. knows how to...

Pros: Lots of style and utility combined into one great SUV. Comfortable. Cons: Bouncy ride, funky sunroof design, SUV gas mileage. The Bottom Line: A luxury vehicle it is not, but if you're looking for a good-looking, sturdy SUV, this is it.
My sweetheart has been begging for a new SUV for months, so finally we went test-driving. Like a lot of style-conscious youngsters, we were attracted by good styling. We liked the RAV4 (but not the CRV - too boxy), the Santa Fe, the Cherokee the ...

Pros: Versatility, go anywhere, do anything. Cons: Gas mileage, but no surprise.
I can't really add much more than what has already been said in other opinions. This is a great vehicle if you really like to get off the beaten path and still drive it to work very day. Don't expect it to handle like a car, because it is basically a...

Pros: Reasonably priced SUV for the sports-minded person Cons: gas mileage The Bottom Line: You'll never be sorry you bought it. Very practical except for the gas mileage.
I can honestly say that although I am not an expert on cars, I do consider myself more than a novice on Nissans. I have never had anything other than a Nissan in my life. First, I had a 210, then a 240SX, and now I have the XTERRA SE-V6 4x4 in a nice...

Pros: Fun, sporty, roomy, handles well, great mileage, roof rack and more Cons: I didn't buy one sooner The Bottom Line: Great car - good bang for your buck, reliable and fun
"I like it, I love it, I want some more of it..." Yes, folks, finally, after years of endless Jeep devotion and ownership, I jumped ship. My latest Jeep, an older Grand Cherokee, had finally racked up enough serious problems (and several ...

Pros: rugged, reliable Cons: small glove box, back seat could use more space, low horsepower The Bottom Line: I like the Xterra. It is rugged, reliable, and well-priced. It may not have the horsepower of the Pathfinder or Cherokee, but it still lives up to it's SUV characterization.
I did preliminary research on some of the "cheaper" SUVs because I wanted one. My husband and I checked out the Xterra, Isuzu Rodeo, Toyota RAV4, and Honda CRV. The Xterra seemed like the best vehicle for the price. My husband got it because I want ...

Pros: True off-road vehicle. Very versitile, does everything a real SUV should do. Cons: Power is adequate, but could use a few more horses off the line. The Bottom Line: Recommended if you want a real SUV and you plan to actually leave the pavement. This is not a soccer mom SUV.
This is my first Nissan (and first foreign vehicle) ever. I love it. After having only so-so luck with Jeeps and Chevy's and horrible luck with Fords, I settled on the Xterra. This is a real SUV that was actually meant to leave the pavement - soccer moms...

Pros: great design, extremely reliable, lots of options, definitely worth the money Cons: does not keep its value too well The Bottom Line: The Nissan Xterra is a great vehicle if you are looking for an SUV that is stylish with a lot of options but can still go offroad when needed.
I owned a 2001 Nissan Xterra (2WD) for two and a half years and it was a great vehicle the entire time I had it. It came with a 3.3(200) V6 that puts out 170 HP and 200 Ibs/torque, and trust me...it picks up pretty quick for an SUV. The interior offered ...

Pros: Affordable, comfortable, stylish, very reliable, good gas mileage for an SUV (what do you expect??) Cons: Cargo basket hides the light from the sun roof The Bottom Line: If you want a unique SUV that is reliable and affordable, buy the Xterra SE.
For all those people who want to buy an SUV, you must accept the fact that the cost to fill up your tank will be more than the price of a car!!! If you will constantly complain about that, you should not buy an SUV. I do not see the gas mileage as a...

Pros: Handles great, beautiful exterior, comfortable, stadium style rear seats Cons: Can't think of any yet... The Bottom Line: I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a reliable, good looking automobile with a moderate price tag and ample room on the interior.
I am a 30 year old female, and I have never liked SUV's. Never had any desire to purchase one. I had my heart set on a 2001 Grand Am, test drove it, and hated it (love my '97). So, after sitting around depressed about not liking the car I thought I...

Pros: Superb creature comforts and aminities Cons: a bit under powered for my blood The Bottom Line: A handy SUV as a primary, small family drive or as a complementary large family vehicle.
I have had the opportunity to drive one of these excellent machines over the last few days.
I have not bought one(yet) but may do that soon enough.
The 2001 Nissan XTerra is an excellent SUV/Family go getter. There is ample room...

Pros: A great great great vehicle. More fun than you can imagine. Cons: well, I guess you can complain about the gas mileage (doesn't compare to a cars gas mileage).
Get up off that couch, get outside and get into this vehicle. The Xterra is built for those type of people who want to get up and go. To put it simply it is not your average SUV.
While the style looks good, the Xterra is built to play....
