Pros: Alero is comfortable and easy to drive. Cons: Sight lines are limited. The Bottom Line: The Oldsmobile Alero was easily the most fun I'd had driving a car for some time. Great handling and comfortable interior made this car a fantastic rental.
I’ll admit it. I have a definite bias for American-made cars. I’m especially partial to cars that are made in my hometown—Lansing, Michigan. This despite the fact that I’m a Saturn owner.
When given the choice between a Mitsubishi, a Pontiac,...

Pros: Much car for the money Cons: Head room is non-existent The Bottom Line: The perfect car for a single person of average size, who wants a car that performs well, has good mileage, looks good, and won't devastate the bank account.
Unfortunately, the Oldsmobile Alero wasn’t very successful in competing with the Honda Accord, Toyot ...

Pros: Mature and attractive styling inside and out, price Cons: Materials, reliability, steering/handling The Bottom Line: Aside from reliability issues, a decent if underwhelming daily driver with a bit of style at a good price.
The girlfriend purchased a new Alero GL coupe in mid-'01. The car has the upgraded stereo, V6, power everything, but no sunroof, cloth seats, and the base suspension. After 4 years and 55,000 miles, my impressions. Styling: One of the Alero's strong ...

Pros: Loads of equipment for your money. Cons: Reliability, reliability, reliability. Underpowered engine for size. The Bottom Line: I like driving this car. It is comfortable and well equipped but cannot trust it to get from A - B without breaking down. Don't take the chance.
The sad thing is, I used to sell these hunks of tin. I purchased a 2001 Alero GLS 4-dr sedan with sports suspension and performance wheels in December 2000 as a surprise birthday present for my wife. I used to work at the dealership and I had sold loads ...

Pros: Comfortable ride, nicely designed interior, decent handling and fuel mileage, nice styling Cons: Hideous reliability and build quality The Bottom Line: Avoid this car like the plague. It is constantly in the shop.
My car was a 2001 Alero GL2. The GL2 comes standard with the GM corporate 3.4L V6 (called the 3400 V6), a 4 speed automatic transmission, power windows/locks/AC. My options included a sunroof, AM/FM/CD/cassette stereo with the 200W Monsoon power ...

Pros: Very Attractive Styling. Even Greater Small Car Value. Cons: Some Ergonomic Errors. Long Braking Distances. The Bottom Line: Even big car fans will find the Alero an attractive, value-conscious choice!
I was very dismayed to hear of General Motor's decision to phase out the Oldsmobile Division late last year. At least Oldsmobile is going out in a blaze of glory. It offers perhaps three of the finest automobiles offered by any manufacturer in their...

Pros: Power, Handling, Braking and Comfort are all EXCELLENT Cons: Weak stock stereo system, location of the cigarette lighter
When I first noticed Oldsmobile marketing their cars towards the younger generation, I thought it would be difficult for them to shake their image of making vehicles for the Florida-bound retirees. With the Oldsmobile Alero, I've been proven wrong. ...

After owning several used cars, I decided that it was time for me to go down to the dealership and look for a brand spanking new one. As I walked the lot of the local GM dealership the alero seemed to jump out at me. I read the stickers and compaired...

Pros: Gorgeous car, sharp handling, very powerful, FULL of safety features Cons: Fuel cap / door has no lock or security features. The Bottom Line: It's a great ride inside and out, but year 3 under the hood is starting to make me skeptical.
I am so impressed with my new 2001 Olds. Alero GLS sedan. I've got the loaded version in Black Onyx - leather interior, power everything, keyless entry system, sunroof, 3.4 liter V6 engine, 17" alum. wheels with low profile tires, fog lamps, rear ...

Pros: Sporty looks, great handling, nice interior, snappy engine Cons: bumpy ride, ash tray/cup holder bad location, blind spots, small gas tank The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this car to anyone. The car has a sports car feel without the sports car price.
I recently purchased a 2001 Alero Coupe. I've owned the car for nearly a month, and I love it. My commute from home to work has lots of turns. The car handles the turns without a problem. The steering is very responsive and predictable, and there is...

I have owned my 2001 Alero for about 6 months now. I love it. It's a wonderfully smooth ride compared to the Mustang that I previously owned. I love all the bells and whistles that came with it too. And the 75,000 mile/5 year warranty gives me comfort...

Pros: Overall a nice car for a test drive. Cons: Too many non-covered repairs! The Bottom Line: Don't buy this hunk of junk until you find out if it is one of the lucky good ones.
I purchased my Oldsmobile Alero 2001 in October of 2001 with the 0% Financing and 5 year/50000 mile warranty. I thought the car would be good at least for the first 5 years. It wasn't. Within the first month of owning this car the driver-side window ...
