Pros: good gas mileage, has not cost a lot in repairs. Cons: need to remove the rear seat, it does not fold down. The Bottom Line: This is the most dependable and the most driven vehicle I have ever owned. Being the 8th vehicle I have owned in my 35 years driving.
I bought my 2001 Olds Silhouette used from a friend who I knew took excellent care of it so I didn't mind paying $17,000 for a van with 67,000 miles on it in 2003. I never expected to still be driving it with over 225,000 miles on it, and I still drive ... read more

Pros: does everything a van should do and with style & comfort. Cons: engine gasket problems and rapid depreciation The Bottom Line: Excellent van for the price, just make sure there are no intake gasket leaks prior to purchase.
This is the second Silouette GLS I've owned, the first one was a 3 year lease that was turned in. The van was so smooth and usefull I purchased the '01. I have now had it 6 years and 60000 miles and intend to keep it to 100000. It still rides and ... read more

Pros: It looks pretty. Cons: Looks are not everything. The Bottom Line: It has all the bells and whistles but you'd be better off buying a new van with NO options for the price because all the Silhouette options don't work anyway.
The van is BEAUTIFUL. The standard options are more than any other mini van out there. The price for a used 40,000 mile Silhouette Premier was $21,000. We even bought an extended warranty. THEN the van began its problems. The heated seats do not heat any ... read more

Pros: Power, Power, Power! Gizmos, comfort, style, accomodation, did I mention gizmos? Cons: Uh,well, maybe they could make it fly when you get into heavy traffic. The Bottom Line: I got lucky when I found my wife and the luck was still with me when I found this van. Both were LOVE at first sight.
I have had a wide variety of cars, trucks, motorcycles and even a van. This comes close,as a pleasure to own, to the 69 Buick (everything but the kitchen sink) Electra I had. I love all of the power features, especially the automatic sliding door. It's ... read more

Pros: Many, many features. Excellent power and responsiveness for a large vehicle. Cons: With lots of features comes lots of future problems; so far so good. The Bottom Line: Slightly pricey but well worth it if you can afford it. An excellent family vehicle.
My wife and I purchased a 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette Premiere(the last year they were made by Oldsmobile; they are now strictly produced by Chevrolet) from Manly GMC in Santa Rosa, California. I am a strict believer in shopping around, but she and I both ... read more

Pros: Reliability, Comfort, Handling, Cargo Area, ergonomics Cons: Slightly Underpowered, Automatic Headlights, rear seats heavy The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a minivan stop and get this Olds. 5/60,000 warranty brings value above other GM vans, Handling brings it above ALL other mini-vans.
With the arrival of my second child rapidly approaching I decided it was time to trade in our small car (Saturn SL1) for something more family friendly. I looked at several makes and models before narrowing the field to the GM vans and the Ford ... read more

Pros: Very good ride, all-purpose, convenient, responsive engine Cons: Road noise The Bottom Line: Luxury van that can be workhorse when needed, comfortable ride, plenty of power, do-everything mini-van.
The 2001 Silhouette (GLS) is the second Silhouette we have owned. Our previous 1998 model was very nice and reliable, with some very nice improvements in the 2001 model.
The ride on the highway or in town is excellent, partly due to the 16 ... read more

We replaced our 1999 Bravada with a 2001 Silhouette for the additional room and better gas mileage. We got the Premier edition so my daughter can be entertained while we are on long trips. We have all the options except the chrome wheels and gold ... read more

I have never owned a mini van, nor would I, but on some rare occasion if I did, this would be the one for me. I am just being honest when I say a mini van just isn't my style. I currently drive a Durango with the third seat to fit the family ... read more

Pros: ABS, OnStar, Dual Sliding Doors, Comfortable seats, Big gas tank, Awesome ride Cons: This is the lowest end model, blind spots The Bottom Line: Great van with great features. It is equivalent to mid-line vans of other companies and has more standard features than other vans I compared it with. Very comfortable!
We traded in our 1995 4Runner for this van. It was an awesome trade. Oldsmobile is currently offering 0.9% financing which means you are paying virtually no interest. We were very impressed with how comfortable the van was. It is amazing how much more ... read more

Pros: lots of "bells and whistles!" Cons: major, major blind spot The Bottom Line: I do not recommend the '01 Oldsmobile Silhouette - but if you are going to purchase it, please be sure there are no blind spots!
When it was time to trade the "old Silhouette ('93 model) in," I test drove an '01 Silhouette. It had all the "bells and whistles" I was used to, plus many more. I was totally infatuated - not crazy about the leather seats, but figured I could get used ... read more
