Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 2.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Lots of innovative features, cockpit like console, fairly roomy inside, handles well, lots of cupholders <GRIN>
Cons: Funky exterior styling, rear seats are not comfortable, cooler handle sticks, some of the features aren't really practical

I saw the ads for the Pontiac Aztek and was intrigued. It's that funky new car that you saw on Survivor, the one the million dollar winner Richard Hatch won. So I took a closer look at this vehicle, and test-drove it at a local dealership. We are...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: nice stereo system, good field of vision
Cons: Bride of Frankenstein designing

There are certain things that Hollywood does that they never mean for society to follow. I remember back in 1983 when National Lampoon released the movie Vacation with Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Anthony Michael Hall and Randy Quaid. This...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: State-of-the-art design and Flexibility; Accommodating and reliable; massive look
Cons: Funky and robust-looking
The Bottom Line: At first, I felt odd test-driving it, but then I realized it is a stable vehicle. I felt comfortable driving around.

This 2001 Pontiac Aztek has been all the buzz lately. The marketing campaign blitz that accompanied its arrival on the market made one of my friends' wife salivate. Till this day, I don't know what attracted her to this vehicle. Well as long as she...

Pros: The features, options, and plain driveability.
Cons: The looks man, The looks!!
The Bottom Line: Buy them cheaply, drive it till the wheels fall off. You cant go wrong with these. But try to get a 03 .

I have been searching for the "right" Aztek, for my wife, for a couple years. I found this low mile gem in Philidelphia, from the original owner. So here's the story..I personally don't like the looks of the Aztek, as most people don't. The Buick ...

Pros: Cargo room, mileage, new model's styling, class leading in every way.
Cons: Styling is somewhat unpleasant.
The Bottom Line: Don't pay attention to opinionated reviews, get the facts and drive it yourself.

I need a new vehicle my 96' model Camaro is wearing thin. The Camaro is getting old and so am I, I don't need a back breaking ride anymore, no more loud wind noise, no loud V8, I want a luxury car. I want a car that can hold my mountain bike too, and...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Gas mileage, roominess, and creature comforts.
Cons: Some interior tid-bits are fussy. Price is high.
The Bottom Line: It’s the best of a minivan, with the stuff you’ll actually use from an SUV. Throw that in with tons of electronic goodies and you’ve got one great honeywagon.

First let me say I own a 2001 GT/AWD black Aztek fully loaded with leather, moonroof, rear captains chairs, trailer towing package, Head-Up-Display, and much much more.

Buying a car is a tough decision. There’s so much to take into account....

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: functional, but not your typical minivan
Cons: unique styling

Living in Motown (Detroit) and working in the auto industry, I see many vehicles before the rest of the country does. When I saw an early prototype of the Aztek, I thought as many others do that it was butt-ugly. In fact, the other engineers I...

Unrequited love......

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 2.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Ride, gas mileage, stereo system, and funky looks
Cons: Warranty--BIG MECHANICAL PROBLEM AT 40K!!!! Have spoke to 2 other owners with SAME PROBLEM
The Bottom Line: GM needs to get real with a warranty and fix engine design problems. If the engine was changed, this would be an excellent choice.

We needed a new car. I had changed jobs and I was very tired of my '95 Elantra, which, with 60K miles on it, was beginning to show age. I was driving over 50 miles one way...so I sit down and research. I don't like "cookie cutter" vehicles-no looks mea ...

I own one !! REAL facts from a real owner

Dec 30 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Versatility with a mad-max look and James Bond type gadgetry with Swiss army like functionality
Cons: Where's the hitch? Where's the rear wiper?

My lease was up on my 1998 'think different' SUV; a 10-mile-to-the-gallon, 6 times recalled, 8 times in the shop, still back-firing at trade in time status symbol.

It was apparent, it was time to search for a new vehicle. The good news, I had...

Pros: The all around small family wheels!
Cons: Needs a little more front passenger knee room

Well, it was September already and the past 3 years had screamed by without even looking back. Yes, it was time to turn in my 1997 GMC Jimmy. The lease was up and so were the new Jimmy prices. But then that had been the story for the last 3 Jimmy's I...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great Idea, First of it's kind
Cons: A little ugly

My first impression was that it looked cool, and then I thought it was a little ugly and then it wasn’t so bad, but I guess it is sort of ugly and now I think I like it again. The first time I heard about the Aztec was during the Survivor...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great styling, engineering, ride and versatility.
Cons: Rear gate needs pull-down strap. Front seat belt release a little awkward to get to.

We were looking to replace our '94 Dodge Grand Caravan that had served us well over the years therefore, we checked out Minivans, SUVs and briefly thought about a larger sedan. Thought we would check out GMC Jimmys and saw the Pontiac AZTEK which really...

Jul 30 '01

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very roomy (even for big guys), great features, nice handling
Cons: unique styling, 5 MPH bumper
The Bottom Line: It handles great and offers a lot of great new features and should be a serious consideration for a younger crowd!!

My first thought when I saw the Pontiac Aztec was something close to, "What kind of weirdo drives that?!" Since those days, I have become that weirdo. It is actually my wife's car, but has become our main mode of transportation and I have to admit that...

Drive it!

Apr 06 '01 - Updated May 07 '01

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Unique styling; Comfortable, Ergonomic design; NOT a mini van or an SUV
Cons: Owners manual is a full inch thick!; Cargo net system confusing to the uninitiated
The Bottom Line: Don't pay any attention to anyone who hasn't driven this vehicle. Drive it and you will love it.

Unlike a lot of people, for me it was love at first sight. My initial reaction was "What is that and where do I get one?" And while I may have been excited to see that Detroit's designers had finally caught up with my visions of futuristic automobiles,...

Aztek = Nothing Like It

by raider-fan
Oct 09 '00

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Unique Styling, Versatility, Interior, Sound System, Appeal to others, Cargo Tray, Tent Option, Price
Cons: Smaller Tyres, Like 210 Hp engine, Unknown Long term Quality

Well the Pontiac Aztek redefines and creates a new genre of vehicle. I was in the market for another van. I did all my research and my brain pointed me to the Toyota Sienna. Quality was the basis of the decision to buy the Sienna.

Funny thing...
