Pros: driving and ride, fuel consumption Cons: construction quality The Bottom Line: Recommended with a caveat: if you buy a used one, be very careful to have the drivetrain checked out.
It had been a while -- two or three decades, I'll bet -- since the last time I'd sat in the driver's seat of a Pontiac Grand Prix. Lots of things have changed in that time: drive-in movies are gone, replaced by Blockbuster... carhops are gone (except for...

Pros: Beautiful exterior, Strong acceleration, Loaded with amenities. Cons: Cheap leather, interior ergonomics. The Bottom Line: Recommended 110% for anyone who wants a big taste of performance at a small price.
When the 1997 Grand Prix GTP made its debut, I was shocked that GM had opted to use a supercharged version of its 3.8 engine. Unlike the previous 3.4 liter equipped GTP, the all-new 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix, with the GTP package, finally gave the Grand ...

Pros: Outstanding service record and still running like new. Cons: Hard to find much on this car. I'd like a 5-speed manual gearbox! The Bottom Line: Outstanding service record. My dealership service department has forgotten my name. Take care of it, and it will take care of you.
I actually purchased my 2001 Grand Prix GTP new, so this is an owner's experience report, not really a "used" car purchase reaction. As the 2005 models are about to be released, few buyers of 2001 model cars are really detail oriented about "fit and ...

Pros: Aggressive looks, strong V6, gutsy exhaust soundtrack. Cons: Lifeless steering, humdrum interior, fuel mileage. The Bottom Line: America's take on the sport sedan/coupe...but it can't match Japan's.
I'll admit to being extremely sceptical upon my first drive of the Grand Prix as to whether or not it could deliver. The car belongs to a friend of mine who was concerned that maybe something was wrong with her brakes. This was already turning out to be ...

Pros: Great Engine that pulls at any speed, heads up display. Practical muscle. Cons: Interior fit and finish - typical American car fare. Pontiac atmosphere. The Bottom Line: "Pontiac" type people will absolutely love it. Others should look at cheaper alternatives that perform just as well, if not better (see review for choices).
I bought my 2001 GTP 4 door sedan (black with gray "leather" interior in August of 2000, so I guess 14 months is long enough to have a solid opinion of the car.
A quick summary - this is a great looking car that's a blast to drive, but it...

Pros: high performance muscular car Cons: the fact the passenger seat is not heated nor powered
I test drove a '01 Grand prix GTP sat after I drove the olds intrigue.
What a difference. I did not notice any styling changes other the color of the car I drove from the '00 year. I just love the muscular look of this car. Although the engine is...

Pros: great ride, roomy, stylish, good engine, nice for long trips Cons: In time, I will find them (and change the rating accordingly). The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this car. The Pontiac family has treated me well - and for the right price.
(Updated August 10, 2004, near the bottom) [May 14, 2004] Donating my decent-running 182,259 mile 1995

Pros: styling, power, interior, handling Cons: No lumbar support. Slow to heat the interior when temp is below 15 degrees. The Bottom Line: The sportiest car you can get that will hold five people. Compare price, styling, performance, and features - I'd recommend this car for families or singles.
My wife and I bought a Grand Prix GT about 2,000 miles ago. We were looking for a sporty family car that is fun to drive. We took the SE for a ride and we both liked it and were thinking about buying it. Then the salesman invited us to take the GT for a...

Pros: Power, Styling, American, Cornering, Roominess, Build Quality, Reasonable manitenance costs, Reliability. A Great Car! Cons: no cons. This car kicks butt, takes names and looks good doing it. The Bottom Line: This is an excellent car. Driven 70 miles per day. Reliable, Powerful & Turns Heads!
I decided to rewrite my opinion on the 2001 Grand Prix, to keep it as short and informative as possible. Engine/Drivetrain: The 3800 Series II V6 engine was combined with a 4T65E 4-speed Automatic Transmission. The engine is a 3.8 Litre, generating ...

Pros: Style, performance, reliability, interior space. Cons: Some low budget interior parts, road noise. The Bottom Line: If you want a reliable, sporty looking car with a good amount of space, and good power, without paying a high premium, check out the grand prix.
*update* SLIGHT OVERVIEW: The Pontiac grand prix has been in production for 40 years and running and is produced by General Motors Pontiac division. The grand prix GT is a 3400-pound midsize sedan (that was also offered in coupe versions). It rides ...

Pros: Get-up-and-go, cheap and readily available on the market, styling has aged well, spacious Cons: AWFUL interior materials, gaps in all the plastic, Tranny/other troubles galore The Bottom Line: About as many features and sportiness you can pack into a sedan made in the past 10years you can find for under $6000. TRY ignoring the typical cheap materials.
Ah the Grand Prix GT 4 door. I drove this car for three years (2004-2007) and it was a hand-me-down from my dad who took meticulous care for it and only put on 58k miles since buying it new in 2001. At first I was pumped to be getting this car, as it ...

What can I say about my Grand Prix GT? It's a lot of fun to drive. Excellent acceleration. Comfortable. Roomy. Those are the good things. The bad things are to follow. I bought my GP in April of 2002 with 13,000 miles on it. It was in excellent ...

Pros: good engine and handling Cons: needs more refinement
I rented a 2001 Grand Prix GT V-6 with 3800 engine to drive down to Virginia from NJ a few weeks ago. Having been with this car for seven days and more than 500 miles, I have my comments.
Engine and handling : Excellent. It is a fast car....

Pros: Smooth powertrain, Style, room. Cons: Build quality, interior. The Bottom Line: This car is a good balance of performance and substance but disappoints with lack luster interior and build quality.
Due to my two-year-old Toyota needing a new rack and pinion steering (another story, another time). I rented a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix. The ABS brakes and day-time running lights are welcome safty features as well as the dual-zone climate controls that...

This car is great... I own this car. Great power, pickup and I get a mileage of 34 on the highway. But city mileage is less than 20. I have a fully loaded car with Onstar security feature. It comes with a BOSE music system as an option for just 50-100$...
