I just recently picked up my 2001 Boxster S with 23,000 miles on it and have been driving it for a week or so, so thought I'd post my views on this forum. Let's start with the exterior. I got the silver/black/black, nicely cleaned and waxed ...

Pros: Styling, Handling, Braking, and Cornering. Nothing better than driving on open road with top down! Cons: Auto Trans could use a 6th gear, limited luxury features The Bottom Line: Highly recommended! It's fast, furious, and fun.
In 2004, I bought a used 2001 'Boxster S' with 50K miles from a Porsche dealer. I use it as primarily a second car. It has automatic (tiptronic) trans and nearly all features including 18" wheels, performance suspension, auto climate control, heated ...

Pros: Acceleration smooth, Head turner, convertible, beautiful shape Cons: No cup holder The Bottom Line: If you want a fast, sporty, beautiful car you want a Porsche Boxster
I recently purchased a 2001 Porsche Boxster from a Porsche Dealer in VA. I did the research on this vehicle, Car Fax showed it with 1 owner over 5 years in rural Virginia. It had 17,300 miles on it, and it had the Porsche Certified-Preowned Inspection ...

Pros: Brilliant Handling, Braking, Build Quality, Overall Engineering - "Porsche Feeling"! Cons: Pricy, Base Model Poor Equip, Could be a little faster The Bottom Line: A sportscar that exemplifies driving fun at the same time is reliable and safe. You would have to spend much more to have a better driving experience.
I have owned a 348 Ferrari, BMW M Roadster (European Version with 321 HP), and most recently a 2001 BMW M3. After being less than satisfied with my BMW, I went back to the Porsche Dealer because I was curious what the same amount of money (I just...

Pros: Great handling, great ride, great fun Cons: Plastic rear window, $$$ The Bottom Line: If you can afford it, buy it over any other competitive car -- but don't get it unless you realize what you're buying and what the limitations are
I test drove the Audi TT roadster, 2.5 and 3.0 Z3 and the Boxster. Also looked at the S2000, but couldn't stand the Honda salesman. Narrowed down to 3.0 Z3 and Boxster. Tried to buy the Z3 but they wouldn't come down enough on price, so went out and...

Pros: Handling, sound of engine, style that will wear well over the years, falling in love Cons: Obsession. Constant worry. The Bottom Line: If you don't mind worry, get one.
While I've always wanted a Boxster, I never thought I'd own one. The car was something I'd dreamt about, but it seemed like it was created for well-tanned single guys who live in California. As for me, I'm married, have one child and live a pasty-white ...

Pros: Lots of fun, great handling, very good speed Cons: Sound system not the best The Bottom Line: Loads of fun and great handling make this a great first sports car
I actually use this car to race with 2 different race clubs, Porsche Club of America and Chin Motorsport. The PCA of course has lots of Porsches, but Chin has all sorts of cars from Neon's to Corvette's and everything in between. And I can say that in...

2001 Boxster

Pros: Amazing ride. Cons: Amazing frustration.
First let me say that driving a Porsche (Boxster, Carrera) is amazing. Driving these beautiful cars have been one of the greatest joys each and every day of my life. The performance of a Boxster is classic and in my opinion the only roadster worth having, EXCEPT for the problems.
There are a lot of problems with these cars and for a prospective buyer I would never buy one that is not certified. Some problems I have had in the last year - Windshield wiper motor failure, ignition replacement, lights in the interior dash stopped working, oh and the engine completely blew up without a warning light ever coming on and all fluid levels at proper levels.
Update 4/20- I will say that since I kept the car serviced and maintained at Porsche dealerships they have willingly agreed to replace the entire engine for free. I believe this is stand up customer service. I also believe they should because it was an unexplainable malfunction. I will update in 3 months to report on any problems or raise my durability rating.

Pros: Golf clubs fit in trunk.
Cons: You have to ensure the plastic rear window folds properly, "chop" with your hand.
I searched for many months in finding the perfect vehicle for me. I fell in love with this vehicle when I realized it fits golf clubs in the trunk and still has another trunk available! It also fits a Tenor sax in the trunk including space for your music books, stand, etc. The ride is great! It drives like a boxster "S"! If you like being noticed, this vehicle certainly stands out on its own.

Pros: convertible, great drivers car, 2 trunks, Cons: price of repairs, small if over 6'
This was my daily driver for 2 years. The 2 trunks allow you to go shopping in it without worry. I have the S and have not found it lacking any power. Sure lots of others have more power but not many can keep up in the canyons. The drop top is also great. On a good Saturday/Sunday you can just put the top down and drive. I have the sport seats and I love them. They really hold you in and the support is wonderful. I have had some problems but all have been fixed under warrenty. repairs are pricey.
