Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Everything listed above.
Cons: The seats really need lumbar support.
The Bottom Line:

The Celica is very reliable, handles well, has good power, gets GREAT gas mileage and is a beautiful vehicle.

I bought my 2001 Celica GT in March, 2008 with 75,000 miles on it. I downgraded from the Camaros and Corvettes of my youth with something more economical yet still sportscaresque. This is one of the best cars I've ever owned. My Celica now has ...

2001 Celica GT - Good, but not perfect...

by jamesp81
May 16 '06 - Updated Jun 04 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: reliability, nimble handling, awesome styling, fuel economy
Cons: non-existent low end torque, not good for stick shift newbies, not much power, blind zones
The Bottom Line: If you can accustom yourself to the clutch and don't mind the lack of sports car power, I strongly recommend it. It's fun to drive, and good on gas.

I recently had an opportunity to test drive a 2001 Toyota Celica GT, and it was a mixed experience overall. Like the Mitsubishi Eclipse, you have the fighter plane cockpit feeling when sitting behind the wheel of the Celica. This is a pro as far as ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: styling, peppy acceleration
Cons: poor paint job, no trunk space, poor back seats, high auto insurance
The Bottom Line: I would buy one if you really want a sports car. Buying a car with more room means value in the long run.

This is a vehicle that commands attention. It doesn't get it because it's a Toyota. I have owned this vehicle for three years now and have decided it's time to sell it. My praises for this car 1) The styling is on of the most eye catching on ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Dang! this car is light and fast and super good with turns.
Cons: Too bad its really small in the back.
The Bottom Line: Celicas speed and power is underestimated.A great car if you are into racing and dont want another played out civic or integra. All in all this is a TITE car!

I got my car for 160$ a month. It runs really good no problems with the motor or anything. However, when it rains or when there is a big dip or an uneven road, the car can't handle it the steering wheel is hard to control. The gear box is really small...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Handling, fuel economy, high end acceleration, ergonomics, looks great, interior design
Cons: Back seat for storage only, rear vision, low end torque
The Bottom Line: Depends on what you need in a car, but if you want reliable, fun, great looking transportation, it's hard to beat!

I purchased my Celica at New Years 2002. It's a great driver's car for a single person like myself. It's fun to drive while still getting great fuel economy (about 26mpg city, 38mpg highway). The pros and cons list my ideas pretty well. The cons are...

The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this car - if I have any problems I'll be sure to edit my Epinion to keep you "in the know" - Happy driving!!

I bought this car with 7,000 miles on it. 4,000 miles later, it has been trouble free and I am very happy with with the car and my Toyota experience in general. I have the GT - automatic - with CD player, spoiler and sunroof. Great sound system, with...

A great compromise that isn't much of one!

Mar 29 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Style, price, handling, breaking.
Cons: Rear viewing.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for an economical, fun-to-drive, reliable, competitively-priced sporty vehicle, you need to take a serious look at the Toyota Celica.

For years (decades, actually), I have wanted a sports car. While I was helping to raise a family, that was out of the question. Now that we are "empty nesters," it became a possibility again. I read a lot of articles and test drove a number of cars...

by vtmonney
Nov 30 '01

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: New engine creates excellent power
Cons: Small interior cramps larger drivers
The Bottom Line: If you have a desire for a fast car and low price tag, go for it.

The new vvtli engine in the 2001 Celica GTS creates 180 horses of pure power. The new engine combined with the 6 speed maunual transmission (available in the GTS model) makes for quick launches and a respectable top speed. The new aggressive styling is...

Funky car, but better choices out there

by tranceboy
Sep 07 '01 - Updated Dec 15 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Futuristic styling, causes head-turns by on-lookers, tight engineering
Cons: Slightly underpowered, jittery ride, low driver's seat
The Bottom Line: The Celica just got passed by Acura and VW in the small car sport category, on power alone. But this car remains a stylish choice.

I purchased the 2001 Celica GT in June, 2001, after driving a '98 Corolla and, previously, a '91 Corolla. As expected, the Toyota engineering is flawless. The car is tightly designed and nothing rattles. The cornering is very flat for a car of this price...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great looking sport car and powerful.
Cons: none
The Bottom Line: The Toyota Celica GT 2001 is a very nice and fun automobile to drive and anyone considering to purchase a sport car should give this one a look.

This fine looking automobile is aimed at the younger generation. It is definitely a beautiful and fast car.
The sad thing is that many youngsters can afford these powerful machines and they will want to test its limit. Accidents are for most part a...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great looking sports car, Built by Toyota, and is fairly inexpensive
Cons: A bit small inside for anybody over 6 feet tall especially in the back seats
The Bottom Line: Great little sports car if you are able to feel comfortable in the fairly small interior.

I work for Hertz Rent-A-Car and am able to drive home any car I wish every night. The Toyota Celica GT is a great little sports car that I take quite often. I am 6'3" and the car is a bit tight for me, but I still fit okay. Everybody else at work that is...

Pros: Looks and handles great, very stylish, great power and fuel economy

2001 Silver Celica GT (Canada)

by kleung21
Jul 22 '01 - Updated Oct 12 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Eye catching styling with quick and responsive handling in an affordable package
Cons: Power is a little light for this class of car. Somewhat noisy at higher speeds
The Bottom Line: A sharp car which will draw attention anywhere you go. Sporty, well-built and comfortable. However, competitors' are offering cars which closely match/beat the features at this price point.

I bought the Toyota Celica in May 2001. At the time, I managed to get an amazing 3.7% financing rate and $1400 cdn off the invoice price of the car. What attracted me to this model is the same thing that has me smiling when I drive it today - cutting ...
