Pros: Visibility, cargo hauling, gas mileage, good ride and handling. Easy for DIY maintenance. Cons: Bad power window design, bad sunroof design, bad tailgate design, a little underpowered The Bottom Line: An excellent buy for anyone with less than 5 people to haul. Good all around vehicle with a few small problems.
I bought one of these for my girlfriend four years ago. She married me, so apparently its not too bad of a choice. We wanted it originally because we had adopted a couple of dogs and needed better transportation for them, as riding in a car is what ...

Pros: cute exterior, stylish interior, fuel economy, reliability, build quality, flexibility of interior Cons: slow to accelerate, vague/sensitive gas gauge, interior cabin noise, dash rattle The Bottom Line: I wholeheartedly reccomend the Rav4, especially to people who are looking for a roomy, non-typical car alternative.
As a college student, I decided to take my first step towards adulthood by purchasing my first "new" car. My previous cars included a 1985 BMW 325, a 1987 BMW 325i convertible and a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.
My last three cars were all...

Pros: Reliable, good handling and breaking, put together well, quiet inside, looks nice Cons: Underpowered, too little space inside, hard to obtain The Bottom Line: The RAV4 is nicer than the Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester and the like such as the Kia and Hyundai. Toyota should offer an engine option with more horsepower.
I suppose I'm what you might call a "big engine" boy. I have always had six and eight cylinder cars. My last daily driver was a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT with a V8, preceded by a 1988 Jeep Cherokee with a six. Even now, my other "fun" car is a 1969...

Pros: Cargo Space; Handling; Style; Reliability; Easy to Park Cons: Gas Mileage; Rattles and Squeaks; weak radio; no side airbags The Bottom Line: The RAV provides safe, great-looking, and reliable transportation. In spite of a few flaws with regard to fit and finish, it stands out as great value for the money.
After a great deal of research, my wife and I bought a RAV4 to replace our rapidly decaying Geo. After owning it for over a year, we both believe it is a great investment, and in spite of brutal weather, potholes, and the dings and scratches of city...

Pros: Wide track, lots of extras, very dependable, quality construction Cons: Tiny steering wheel, security screen over cargo area won't tilt up enough The Bottom Line: I got it with every option available, it's great. Have owned Toyota's for ages they are just great vehicles. My 87 Toyota Van has 324,213 mile on it.
I was looking at the Siennas and love the space but I was thinking that with the higher then usual fuel rates lately why not go for something a little more efficient then a van. Mind you, I am still a huge fan of Toyota vans after owning one since 1988...

Pros: versatility, gas mileage, looks, Toyota name Cons: fuel capacity, availability, packages and pricing The Bottom Line: I'd reccommend the 2001 RAV4 to anyone who wants a versatile vehicle without sacrificing style and gas mileage. It's fun to drive but a bit on the "rare" side.
The time had come for my 1995 Neon to make its grand exit from our lives. With a leaky head gasket, slipping transmission, and plenty of abuse from my older brother, time and a lack of quality signaled stage right for my first car. Sad, (no, not...

Pros: Great looking, roomy, fun. Cons: A little pricey, plus annoying dash rattle. The Bottom Line: All-in-all: Get yourself a RAV. The rattle's my only complaint, and I'd be willing to wager that the boys at Toyota HQ are already working on a fix for it.
Last November I found myself in the market for a new car thanks to an unobservant driver who totaled my old Toyota Camry. After I finally got the check from the insurance company I went looking. I originally wanted to by a pickup but, once I saw the...

I am no mechanic, so my thoughts are all from an end-user rather than a technical user standpoint. I am not really interested in handling my own repairs or in all the technical details such as horsepower. I just want a reliable car that handles the...

Pros: Beautiful, roomy and fun to drive Cons: Almost impossible to buy The Bottom Line: Great product from company that decided to squeeze its market by confusing customers and forcing us to relinquish good customer service to buy the vehicle.
I love my RAV4. There are lots of places to read about why the RAV4 is so wonderful, and they're all true. Check out Consumer Reports auto buying guide for 2001 or Edmunds.com to name just a couple popular, trustworthy sources.

Pros: Great room in front, lots of options, sleek look. Cons: Hope you never need a jump start. The Bottom Line: If you can find these hotcakes, want an elevated view, reliability, safety, quality, and do not transport many adults, this is your car!!!
I recently went with a friend of mine to purchase a 2001 Toyota RAV4. I was skeptical of the car because of its compact size. However, research from Consumer Reports and Crash Test results posted high scores. Although, as one member of epinions has...

I have owned my 2001 RAV4 5-speed for a year and almost 11,000 miles now. I am extremely happy with this vehicle. Whether touring the back country or commuting to work this mini-SUV makes the ride a pleasure. It handles quite well for a high center of...

Pros: Great gas mileage, styling, and fun to drive. Cons: Lower bottom half of grill has engineering design flaws. The Bottom Line: Lower front grill has major design flaw which allows rocks and highway debris to damage air-conditioner condenser which is expensive to replace and is NOT covered by the warranty.
I purchased a new Toyota RAV4 "L" model in February of 2001 and to date have 1,907 miles on the odometer. I bought this vehicle because I previously owned a 1997 RAV4 which was trouble-free. This vehicle is an improvement over the earlier model and being...

Pros: Awesome New Look, Space Inside, Reliability, Gas Mileage Cons: Availability, Fully Loaded Doesn't Have That Many More Options, 4-Cylinder The Bottom Line: If you're looking to buy an SUV, but not willing to pay the $35K sticker price, then definitely check out the RAV4.
Is It A Lexus? No It's A Rav4!! That's what some people thought when they 1st looked at my car/SUV. I bought my Titanium Silver RAV4 with the L package back in December of 2000 after 3 1/2 hours of negotiation with the dealer in which I got the ...

Pros: Durable built, responsive steering wheel, awesome cornering ability, good brakes, fantastic 4x4 traction. Cons: Non in-depth adjustment of steering wheel, poor driving position, cheap fabric, tube tyres. The Bottom Line: RAV4 is a very good all-round SUV. It lacks refinement though, in terms of engine noise at above 120 km/h, and it suffers from poor driving position.
RAV4 is a fantastic new-age SUV and it can satisfy its owner in almost most aspects . It can achieve high - for a SUV - cornering speeds, it can "survive" in very tough situations, varying from sandy beaches up to heavy snowy mountains and it can...
