Pros: Safety, durability and strength; Comfort, looks and design; V8 Cons: Price and rear-seat The Bottom Line: If you want to own a vehicle that will help instill your own values and taste in your kids, you will want to try this 2001 Toyota Tundra.
If Ford has a bestseller with its F-150 pickup truck, Toyota has claimed the top position when it comes to safety-related crash tests performed by by the insurance industry. For many truck buyers, they did not have to wait for the Insurance Institute for...

Pros: Smooth, quiet ride; awesome turbine-like v-8, cupholders, reliability Cons: rear-seat room, paint not up to Toyota standards, weak door indents The Bottom Line: If you value trouble-free performance, power, a smooth ride, and value over heavy duty capacity and 4 passenger comfort, choosing the Tundra is a no-brainer.
NOTE: THIS REVIEW APPLIES TO THE 2001 model, since it is virtually identical to the 2000. Unforunately, Epinions has structured the site so people looking for information on new vehicles are guided to reviews written by people who haven't owned them...

Pros: World class engine, truly well built, seamless four wheel drive Cons: Poor visibility from side view mirrors, accelerator pedal position, interior appointment spartan The Bottom Line: Every bit a Toyota in reliability, some compromises perhaps in other areas such as interior space.
The 2001 Tundra is a pick-up truck that has come of age. Its predecessor, the T-100, was not a deadbeat. It certainly was a Toyota product in styling and reliability, but perhaps it didn't make the grade for the North American half-ton and up truck...

Pros: acceleration, comfort, looks Cons: price, small bed The Bottom Line: If you are in the market for a new truck, at least give the Toyota Tundra a test drive. It is a great truck despite the cost.
My father had a huge, full-sized Chevrolet. It was a 1993, so it was getting a bit old. No air conditioner, no radio and it randomly would shut off even while driving down the interstate. Needless to say, he got rid of it, especially having his last...

Pros: Safe, Great Power, Stylish, Toyota quality. Not everyone owns one (yet). Cons: A little pricey, smaller than others in back seat. The Bottom Line: Holds its own with the big boys. If you buy one now, you'll be on the front end of what is going to be a popular truck.
Buying a truck can be a trying experience. Everyone and their brother (sister, mother, father, pet hamster) drives an F-150. Those that don't (the Ford haters) stick with the Chevys and Dodges. All good trucks. Recently, another truck seems to be...

Pros: Great Toyota quality engineering and performance Cons: Size DOES matter - and is at a minimum here The Bottom Line: If I didn't need more space than I can afford, this would be a great choice. Hopefully Toyota will make a REAL full size pick up.
I have owned several Toyotas and know how well they are made, so naturally when shopping for a new full size truck I went straight for Toyota. I even contacted my dealer on the internet first - Toyota has a GREAT internet shopping program, and the...

Pros: Bullet-proof Toyota quality, ample V8 power, Lexus-like fit & finish. Cons: Smaller rear seat despite four door cab The Bottom Line: If you are serious about a powerful, quality-built full size truck, test drive a Tundra. I wouldn't trade mine for anything; I'm 100% satisfied with my Tundra.
In the full-size truck world, the domestics dominate the market. But now, growing in popularity and proving its mettle: enter the Toyota Tundra. Built in Indiana, powered and equipped like its domestic competition, Toyota's big truck is giving the Big...

Pros: Reliability, handsome, head-turner, quiet, powerful, overall quality Cons: Only a few models, higher priced The Bottom Line: For reliability, ride and looks, the Tundra is unbeatable.
To my mind, I could do nothing worse when purchasing a truck than pick an unreliable lemon. And trucks that are lemons do exist. Some trucks have, from time to time, serious electrical, mechanical and handling problems. In short, if your truck won't...

Pros: V-8 power, acceleration, smooth, size, leather interior Cons: fuel economy, backseat space, narrow frame The Bottom Line: If you do a lot of work like hauling stuff it's powerful and reliable. The work of the truck is as good as the looks of the truck too.
The Tundra was my first vehicle. I got it during the beginning of my senior year of high school. It was used but an excellent choice of a teenager girl, especially when I was living in a rural area where there's a lot of locations to go four-wheeling, ...

Pros: Awesome V8,quiet and smooth ride, Toyota Quality Cons: Small backseat, lack of hieght adjustment on drivers seat The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this truck. All you Camry, Sienna, or Avalon owners out there thinking of a pickup truck need to look no further than the Tundra.
I purchased my Toyota Tundra a week and a half ago and I must say that I am totally satisfied. I have had a 1998 Toyota Camry LE for the last three years and I loved it. The Tundra rides better and quieter than the Camry, but get about half the mileage...

Pros: Safe, comfortable and versatile truck. Baby/toddler seat installs with ease and is secure. Cons: Rear seat can be uncomfortable after long periods of sitting. But what seat isn't? The Bottom Line: My recommendation is that you shop around. I can almost assure you that this truck will be on your short list. Best in class when it comes to safety.
The 2001 Toyota Tundra is probably the safest truck on the road. That alone is a good reason to buy this truck. The interior is roomy (even the back seat). My complaint with the back seat is not the size (it is a full size rear seat, or close to it). ...

Pros: STRONG,FAST,SMOOTH,VERY OFFROAD CAPABLE, RELIABLE, COMFORTABLE Cons: The door material is fuzzy and fuzzballs and pet hair sticks to it. The Bottom Line: It can do anything anyother half ton can do, and it does it faster, quieter, and doesn't take up as much space.
I bought My 2001 V8 TRD Tundra a year and 3/4 ago. It has 42,000 miles on it, and I am throughly impressed with this truck. It has all the power I need to pass when and where I want, even towing a loaded trailor. The biggest load I pulled yet was about...

I had a 1998 Tacoma, I loved that little truck, 4 banger and all. I was curious and made the mistake of taking a V8 extended tundra for a test drive. That was it!! I stepped on it to get into traffic and had to take my foot off the gas to stop the...

In the city or off-road this truck is near perfect not to mention it's a second year model.
I have owned my truck for 2 years now and expect that I will own it atleast another 8. I drove all trucks from the major 3 and fell in love with the Tundra. All it took was a 20 minute ride on the various roadways. I was sold on it's smooth, quiet...

Pros: Power, Refinement, Ground Clearance, Acceleration, Handling, Fit and Finish Cons: Small backseat, Dull Design, Poor rear visibility.
I love the design though it is a bit small in the back seat. We have driven this truck since it was new and we now have 39K on it. Gas mileage was a bit disappointing because we were hoping for a bump due to the lower weight but it was not to be. Of course when you order a truck with a V8, AT, 4x4, Extended Cab, Off Road Package, you can pretty much count on passing everything but the filling station. The service as a real adventure but I am pretty sure that has more to do with the dealership than the company.

Pros: good engine Cons: weak transmission, weak brakes, poor support from toyota.
2001 SR5. 85K miles. At 50K, all the o2 sensors blew. At 65k, the entire steering/shift hub assembly shattered, rendering the truck un-driveable. Toyota refused to replace it, cost $800.
Transmission has never worked correctly.
Brakes are crap, rotors too small.
But the worst is Toyota stealerships. My local one is DCH toyota of simi valley, CA. DO NOT GO THERE FOR ANY REASON. They are liars and crooks. They wanted $350 to replace an o2 sensor. I did it myself in three minutes for $80.
