Pros: Comfortable, spacious sedan with plenty of power and performance Cons: Minor nits The Bottom Line: Volvo S60 offers better value for the money than virtually any other European sedan.
I don't know why I never looked at Volvos seriously before. Maybe it was their perpetually ugly designs which always managed to look like rolling boxes. Or maybe it was the image I had in my mind that a Volvo customer was always a well-off suburban mom...

Pros: Sporty,sleek...and yes safe Cons: None The Bottom Line: Heritage of safety combined with sportiness
Never been dissappointed with Volvo. Though friends
have laughed at the boxy appearance Volvo has had,
the latest trends in volvo design have been to develop
a sleeker, more sporty feel.
Design
Currently Volvo is...

Pros: Styling, Comfort, Power, Reliability. Cons: High Service Costs, Disappoints on Safety Ratings The Bottom Line: I recommend this car, starting with the 2002 model year. The cars strong points are the styling, comfort, power, and reliability. A major low point is the service cost.
Living in this country's "Snow Belt" has an influence on many of the major purchases one makes. For instance, I try to buy jackets that have an inner liner and an outer shell for the days when "you never know." Well, it is much the same way with my car...

Pros: so comfortable you may want to consider it your second home Cons: none The Bottom Line: This haggle-free, user friendly S60 starts from $27,000 and is sure to get you out of your driving slump.
Volvo has been a benchmark for safety and reliability. Enter the S60. This classy sedan is molded like a coupe and is a far cry from the boxy Volvo of yore. The S60 is the sportiest in its family, which consists of the entry level S40 and the flagship...

Pros: Stylish exterior Cons: stiff competition The Bottom Line: This is a good car that needs more to compete in a highly competitive market segment .
A friend of mine bought a blue Volvo S60 this summer. I have not driven his car, but have spent some time in the passenger seat, and here are my impressions.
The S60 on paper
A front wheel drive 4 door sedan, the S60 leans toward the...

Pros: Very comortable, good power and gas mileage and range. Cons: Turning radius, maintenance costs, sides dings seem to appear by just looking at the vehicle. The Bottom Line: Buy this vehicle only for safety and used with low mileage. Be prepared for high maintenance costs.
I own two 2001 Volvo S60's. Both of these were purchased used at very reasonable prices, one with 59K miles for $10,500 and one with 83K miles for $9,000. As an owner with three Volvo's currently (including a 1997 850) and the ...

Pros: Quality
Design
Comfort
Price Cons: 18 inch wheels cause noise when making sharp turns, a fixable problem The Bottom Line: I think this is defintely one of the best cars out there including BMW330, more bang for your buck, and better environmental standards than BMW.
I love my s60 T5! I bought this car 6 months ago, It drives perfectly and is so comfortable. All my friends envy me and have been swearing their next car is going to be a s60 after riding with me. We have the full package, and I must say that the seats ...

Pros: Comfortable, stylish, quiet ride, great stereo system, quality workmanship evident Cons: limited legroom in back seat The Bottom Line: If you are looking for an extremely comfortable and safe mid-size sedan, the Volvo S60 is a good choice. It is less expensive than other similar entry-level luxury vehicles.
I recently purchased a Volvo S60, 2.4 base model (options are automatic transmission & premium package). This is a beautiful car! It also is very enjoyable to drive. I test drove the 2.4T model also. It had noticeably more power when accelerating to...

Pros: Sleek looking car with great luxury and safety features Cons: Sluggish performance, "mushy" handling and high price The Bottom Line: Nice luxury car if you want something that isn't too quick, but has a nice feel to it.
I test drove several different S60s while I was car shopping in May/June 2001. One annoying thing I found was a shortage of these cars with manual transmission. I was told that there was simply no demand for manual.
While this might be the...

Pros: Stylish,Safe, Fast, Competitive Cons: Turbo makes it hard to be fuel-wise The Bottom Line: Gives the Germans a run for the money with better value, sharp looks, great performance and safety at every turn.
OK, so Volvo has had a reputation for staid, safe cars similar to rolling refrigerators and about as exciting. But all that has changed with the S60 T5. This is a go-car with awesome power, Volvo reliability (so far), strong handling and the full gamut...

2001 Volvo S60 Nightmare

Pros: Overshadowed by the cons. Cons: Mainly - Poor electrical components. That little message center is not your friend.
Get the extended warranty, seriously! Just another FORD (Fix or Repair Daily). Fell apart after the warranty expired. Front suspension problems, O2 sensors, faulty brake light and side position bulb indicator warnings that Volvo can't clear, climate control module died, now "SRS - Airbag Caution Urgent" warnings, $91/hr labor, inept Volvo technicians, and worst yet, Volvo customer service is unsympathetic to their poor reliability. I should have had my head examined after the second one to even consider a third. Our 1998 S90 had similar electronic modules issues. After 19 years, I am through! The Acura TL is looking mighty good. I'd even take a Honda Accord EX over the Volvo.

Pros: Great looking car, wonderful when it works right. Cons: Never works right.
In concept, my 2001 S60 2.4T is a great car. Comfortable, powerful, very good looking. In reality, the car has been nothing but trouble from about 50,000 miles on due to horrible throttle control problems. The engine shakes violently, breaking motor mounts and causing passengers to ask "what's wrong with the idle" .... Yes, Volvo has finally admitted a problem, but try to get them to honor their extended warranty on the throttle system. Ha - what a joke. So, for the $32,000 I paid for the car and the additional many thousands in service, repairs, problem hunting, misdiagnosis, wasted fixes, etc...., I could have had a Lexus and saved money. Live and learn - I'd trade the darn thing, but they don't hold their value either. Nobody wants a used 2001 Volvo. I'm wondering why anyone would want any Volvo at all. It's now just a glorified Ford.
