Pros: Great engine and driving position Cons: Awful ride and mixed handling The Bottom Line: An excellent engine and very good interior are let down by the chassis. The ride is amazingly bad, even for a performance-oriented sedan.
For 2002, Acura gives the Type-S treatment to its formerly bland TL sedan. Now you don’t have to buy a coupe to get the 260 horsepower engine, 17” wheels, and sportier interior that have made the CL Type-S so popular. With a price of $31,700, the TL ...

Pros: Everything is standard, nice engine and suspension, fit and finish, nav system, reliability Cons: Styling, perception, no fold-down seats, crash protection only average The Bottom Line: Overall, the TL is a good value with lots of standard equipment and smooth engine. But styling and the crash protection could be better
The 2002 Acura 3.2TL is an excellent value. The only option is a DVD-based navigation system that holds the entire US map on one DVD disc. The features that are optional on other cars in this segment are standard here.

My parents just recently bought a 2002 Acura 3.2TL with metalic silver paint and black leather interior. It had about 35,000 miles on it and ran terrific...for what it was. I was pushing them to buy and Audi A8 but they were concerned about ...

Pros: Simply the best bang for the buck in this price range. Cons: Dealer service has been iffy at best. Avoid the sales people. The Bottom Line: The BEST car in the $25,000-35,000 price range - try and beat it. The Type S is simply exceptional.
After driving Jeep Grand Cherokees for over eight years, I became very tired of the bumpy and noisy ride. After taking my wife's Saab 9-3 to work a few days, I decided I'd get a luxury sports car once my Jeep lease expired.
I looked for cars...

Pros: Engine Performance, interior room, interior comfort, many standard items which cost extra in other cars Cons: Dated styling, poor chassis, interior problems, transmission issues The Bottom Line: Good vehicle for the money. Enjoyable experience to own. Some quirks in styling and interior.
**FINAL Update (10-31-08)**I ended up replacing the transmission 8 times, on average about once every 10 months. This was a major pain. Due to this, I have sold this car just prior to the warranty expiration. I do like this car a ...

Pros: Mind numbing acceleration for its segment, lots of standard equipment, head turning interior! Cons: Driving this FAST is detrimental to your insurance rates!! Bland styling, need wider tires The Bottom Line: Speed, Performance, Luxury, Features, Reliability, Refinement, High Resale value = a unique combination very few offer
I have driven just about every sports car that is out there - from a Porsche 911, BMW 540i, Jaguar S-Type and even the Subaru WRX. There is something about the driving experience of this Acura that is special. While its true that it is not the best...

Pros: Options, price, reliability, high resale value, INCREDIBLE acceleration. Cons: SOHC engine. Foot brake. Dullish styling The Bottom Line: If you want to stay close to $30K and get lots of options on the car, with high resale and reliability, go for the Acura TL.
After my SAAB story with the 9-5SE (please see that review for all the gory details) I decided to return to the warm bosom of reliability and high resale value of Japanese-made automobiles.
Just to rule out alternatives, I drove 15 cars in total....

Pros: Adrenalin pumping acceleration, sleek styling, gorgeous interior - YEAH BABY! Cons: No Xenon fogs/High beams, auto on/off headlights, generic styling - The "mass produced Corolla look" The Bottom Line: Watch out BMW! The new Acuras are coming to eat you alive :-)
HAHA! I "upgraded" to this TLS from a "fully loaded" BMW 328i about 5 months ago. So I am going to compare this car to the 328i. This will probably give a perspective to buyers who are considering a BMW also...DONT!! DONT! DONT! You may want to look...

Pros: Lower Price then Competitors, High Engine Output, Nice Exterior Cons: Handling Not as good , Poorly "Constructed", Not as great as everyone think it is The Bottom Line: Acura Tl is an Average Luxury Car. You Get What You Pay For! Go Buy A BMW! The Ultimate Driving Machine (they aren't lying)
I purchased my 2002 Acura 32.TL Type-S (Non-Navi) in June of 2001. Let me give you run down of its unique features:
1)3.2 liter 260 HP VTEC Engine
2)Type-S Sport Package
That's all the unique features i could actually think of,...

Pros: Amazing engine, one of the best driving front drivers out there. Cons: Styling is not aggressive enough to match driving demeanor of this car. The Bottom Line: Can't beat it for $30K for handling, performance and options!
I completely disagree with the person who wrote the review titled "Acura TL Type-S: Lost any fillings lately?". Specifically there are a few things I want to point out. First, he said the ride is horrible. This is completely untrue. I have one, dri ...

Pros: Fast, Good handling, Quiet, Good mileage, Fun to drive Cons: Passenger seat a little low. No daytime driving lights. No fold down rear seats The Bottom Line: This car provides performance and handling without giving up anything as a daily driver. You can get this experience elsewhere but not for the money.
This is a fun car to drive yet it is practical everyday car.
On the fun side you've got to start with the engine which is smooth and powerful. You don't have to use the sport shifter to make this car move but it helps if you do. My wife is not a...

Pros: Fast as hell!, lots of power, race-bred engine is a JEWEL Cons: poor handling, not cheap for what it offers, shoddy build quality The Bottom Line: Less luxury, practicality and performance than the wonderful Honda Accord for a higher price! Avoid it or buy a real luxury car (BMW, Lexus or Mercedes)
Why would anyone want to buy this car? The extra $6-7K buys you a car that has worse handling characteristics than an Accord. And except for memory/heated seats, xenon headlamps and 4 pieces of plastic "wood" everything else is offered in the less...
