Pros: Excellent CVT, styling, composed chassis, high quality materials Cons: Four rough and whistles too much, base tires ruin styling The Bottom Line: Very good car except for the base engine and base tires. The former lacks refinement, and the latter destroy the looks.
You may not have noticed, but for 2002 Audi has redesigned the A4. I say you might not have noticed because theyve redesigned it to look just like the A6, just a foot shorter. Strangely, this style works a bit better on the smaller package. The ...

Pros: Completely new car, even better handling, amazing CVT, new V6 Cons: Styling not quite my style, CVT not available with QUATTRO (yet) The Bottom Line: This car raises the bar and will get BMW and MERCEDES engineers scratching their heads. The new CVT is absolutely spectacular. If you can afford it buy it...
I finally got my hands on the new A4. If I told you I wanted to try a front wheel drive A4 you probably would not believe me… Why not a Quattro? Well, while I do own an A6 Quattro and can vouch for its fantastic handling and grip I wanted a front wheel...

Pros: Great handling, nice interior, nice features if you pay for some options. Cons: Bad reliability, needs repairs often. Some interior materials scratch too easily The Bottom Line: The car is fun to drive through curves and turns especially with quattro, but constant problems cost a lot of money once the car is out of warranty.
I bought a 2002 Audi A4 1.8t with Quattro, manual transmission and the sport package back when they first came out at the end of 2001. I loved the way the car looks in Dolphin gray (looks more like dark blue than gray), and still do but I have recently ...

Pros: Sporty look and handling, home-link, leather, heated and memory seats, many optional luxuries, Quattro Cons: expense repair and limited availability of repair, small backseat, climate control, storage for media The Bottom Line: I recommend. Luxury and style for moms--you don't have to be stuck in a mini-van!
I had to trade in my sports car for a 4-door when my son was born. I didn't mind the conversion, as long as the *sigh* sedan wasn't the minivan, station wagon, or SUV! I wanted a sporty car, but practical. I found it! I am in love with my Audi A4 Quattro ...

Pros: Great safety features and German handling and sportiness Cons: More horsepower as standard feature The Bottom Line: One of the safest cars in its class and the best overall value.
*** I have updated my review based on current ownership experience. *** I bought a 2002 black Audi A4 1.8T with CVT, black leatherette, premium package, rear side airbags, OnStar system, 16" cast alloy wheels and xenon lights for $28,081. ...

Pros: Styling (trend), trunk space, and handling Cons: Slightly weak performance, leatherette, and small backspace. The Bottom Line: I recommend this car for ages 16-30 who are seeking a sporty-trendy-luxury-car. But for those who do not hit that middle ground, aim for the BMW or Mercedes.
I've read many of the reviews on Epinions and most of them state in their reviews, "the car I drove" ...

Pros: Styling, safety, handling, power(V-6), solid construction, dealers Cons: Pricey, somewhat cramped, shifter/clutch, availability, A6 lookalike The Bottom Line: A great BMW alternative for those under 6 feet tall who don't carry passengers often.
The audi A4 was re-designed for 2002. Improvements include a more powerful V-6 engine, stiffer chassis, and various other small refinements to an already nice car, as well as a complete restyling. I eagerly awaited the new 2002 model, but ultimately...

Pros: Quattro, distinctive body style, surpassingly comfortable interior, solid fit & finish, cornering Cons: sunroof wind noise, short overdrive ratio The Bottom Line: A near-perfect execution of the European Sports Sedan - offering generous power, an aircraft-like cockpit, surpassingly comfortable sport seats and a distinctive chassis.
"Amazing. Can we do that again?" I ask.
"Sure! The mall doesn't open for another hour ... this lot will be empty for at least another thirty minutes." the salesman replied.
Ahhh ... would that all car-buying experiences be this...

Pros: Build quality, Quattro, sharp handling, willing 1.8T engine, luxurious feel and style Cons: Slightly rubbery transmission, long throw clutch, need more lateral support on seats The Bottom Line: Undisputed Audi engineering and quality, sure matches up well with a BMW.
I have been driving my red A4 1.8T Quattro with a 5-speed manual since mid May 2002, and I have been very satisfied with everything on this fine car. I had to choose this car between a BMW 325xi, and an Acura 3.2CL.
Here are some specs of my...

Pros: Very luxurious, great handling with quattro, 5spd and the sport package, interior. Cons: still a little underpowered with 170hp, although there are lots of aftermarket tuning options The Bottom Line: The best entry-level sports sedan you can buy. Get the 1.8t, quattro, 5spd, sports pkg. And performance is easily tuneable if you get bored with it.
My wife and I went car shopping last weekend. The vehicles to make the short list were the Mercedes-Benz SLK230 (likely we'd buy used), BMW Z3 Coupe 3.0i (this is what we purchased) and the Audi A4 1.8t quattro with a manual transmission (obviously, I...

Pros: Quattro, styling, rigidity, ride, handling, attention-to-detail, fit & finish, safety, CVT Cons: Limited rear legroom, wide center console limits driver knee room, high freeway revs for 1.8T The Bottom Line: Beautiful and elegant styling, exceptional driving dynamics, cutting edge engineering and industry leading attention-to-detail make the 2002 A4 a most appealing package for the enthusiast.
From 1996 to 2001, the Audi A4 has helped fuel the resurgence of Audi in North America. Elegant styling, attention to detail, all-wheel drive, and impeccable road manners made the A4 a very attractive prospect in the entry-level luxury segment. Rather...

Pros: Excellent interior, grippy all-wheel drive, great handling, solidly built, CVT performance a pleasant surprise. Cons: Slightly cramped, A6-like styling not for everyone, manual's merely good, as is 1.8T engine. The Bottom Line: A extremely well-rounded car: able to carry 4 adults and crave up back roads, looks great inside and out, luxuriously sophisticated yet ultimately sporty. An excellent compact sports sedan.
After initially seeing the redesigned 2002 Audi A4, I wondered if anyone...even an Audi salesperson...can tell it apart from an A6 if one was parked beside the new A4. I also wondered if the previous A4 needed a redesign; after all, it was a...

Pros: Excellent styling, great handling, smooth ride, Quattro AWD, auto dual climate control, heated seats Cons: Wind Noise at high speeds, only 170 HP, stereo system sound, sunroof The Bottom Line: This is an excellent choice for your first entry into buying a luxury car. For the price category it has great style, excellent handling and a smooth ride.
I leased my Audi A4 1.8T in early April and I love it so far. The 2002 styling is similar to the A6. I get numerous comments and complements on the look of this car. I got Dolphin grey with a platinum leatherette interior. The interior platinum color...

Pros: Can't in 15 words. Read review. Very extensive... Cons: Read "Pros". The Bottom Line: Forget numerical ratings. This car is a great value compared to the BMW. Check it out! If you are not going to buy, at least test-drive.
...I hate to put it that way, but since the 3-series is viewed as the standard in this highly competitive sport-compact class, even comparing the A4 to the BMW says a lot about the new Audi.
But before I get to specifics, let me tell you a...

Pros: the swiss army knife of sport sedans- sporty handling, designer feel, great build quality Cons: mediocre mileage, average power The Bottom Line: If you are in the market for a sport sedan under $40,000, you need to test drive the new Audi A4. You will not be disappointed.
The latest A4 continues Audi's streak of designing award-winning cars that drive well and look and feel great inside and outside. Automotive journalists have praised Audi for a number of recent designs, including the TT, the allroad, the A4 and the A4...
