Pros: Engines, chassis dynamics, ride, quietness Cons: Steering, driving position, not much larger inside than less expensive 3 The Bottom Line: Great chassis, but for most people the 3 is the better BMW.
Many regard the BMW 5-Series as the best sedan for the performance driver, period. It’s large enough to be luxurious, yet still compact enough to be agile. No other sedan offers as wide a choice of powertrains. Four engines are available, ranging from ...

Pros: Beautiful looks, awesome powerplant, heavenly handling, equally impressive ride. An all-around performer. Cons: Spartan interior with confusing German markings. Painful sticker shock. The Bottom Line: I get the question all the time: "if you could have one car, which would it be?" This car, my friends, would be my pick.
Many times, the "dream car" discussion hits the roundtables of manhood, and when two guys get together, the question invariably comes up: "if you could have only one car, what would it be?" My friends know they don't have to get very far in their...

Pros: Handling, technology, Interior passenger space, Build quality, Styling, Image Cons: Expensive option packages, Very expensive V8, Wagon could be more roomy in the back The Bottom Line: What a luxury wagon should be, handles like a race car and hauls the family. Is it worth the money? Look at the A6 and the E320 before you decide...
In my recent foray into the BMW world I spent several hours "playing" with a 330 sedan (see my review on epinions) and a 525 wagon. Both these cars with an automatic transmission. This review fits into the 5 series slot but concerns mostly the 525 wagon...

Pros: Performance, Handling, Reliability, Winter Handling (with snow tires),Dealer Service Cons: Cup Holders The Bottom Line: A luxury family sedan that thinks its a sports car. If you are shopping cars in this range, this is the bomb.
This car is a lot of fun. I bought it for a nice ride, but it unexpectedly changed my approach to driving from transportation to an enthusiasm. To start, it made me want to be a better driver. A month after buying it I attended a Skip Barber driving...

Pros: Performance, handling, loading capacity, a classy wagon Cons: Electric fan noise, gas mileage The Bottom Line: A robust and refined wagon at attractive prices.
We bought in July 06 as Certified Pre-Owned 2002 BMW 540iAT as a Home Depot / Ikea run / long distance people carrier and daily driver, and I have to say that the 540iT has met our expectations in most areas. Wagons with atV8 power and a european ...

Pros: Decent size interior, proven hassle free electronics, safe family sedan Cons: worst cupholders I've ever seen in front and no cupholders in rear, garage door opener The Bottom Line: provides safety and some additional room that we were looking for - the car is solid and it's going to be reliable while we own it
To start, a bit of background. We are a car firendly family with an eclectic set of cars in our short driving history. In the past five years we've owned: 8? Chevy Cavalier, 96 Chevy Cavalier, 96 BMW 328is, 83 Porsche 911sc Cabriolet, 87 Ferrari 328gts...

Pros: excellent handling, safe, attractive, solid quality Cons: wheel well guards scraping, horrible stereo system, horrible cupholders, none in back, lack power The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this car if the person doesn't mind the minor flaws. You can only appreciate it when you drive it.
I've owned an Acura, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, VW, Nissan, Ford, Dodge, and a 2003 BMW 330CI. Most of my friends have Mercedes (suspension is soft). I bought this car because the sleek look, the aggressive M5 front and rear bumper have always attracted me ...

Pros: fast, great handling, sturdy build, reliable, sexy Cons: price, smaller than old 5-series The Bottom Line: Due to the sturdy build, reliability and quiet ride, this car is the best I have had and well worth the money.
I have owned two BMW's and one Mercedes. 2002 530i BMW is by far one of the best cars I have ever driven. It is fast and handles beautifully even in snow and rain. Tight steering makes it fun to manuever. The car feels sturdy and heavy enough to not...

Pros: Excellent ride
Great performance
luxurious interior
Cons: manufacturer's defects - axles, power steering, clutch
Substandard BMW dealer response on related defects The Bottom Line: Excellent car. Manufacturer's defects. If only BMW would stand by their product, admit this one is a lemon (or at least fix the problems at their cost).
I love my 540i and I hate my 540i. The car is amazing when everything is working. The ride, acceleration, braking, steering, sound are all phenomenal. But how much do you want to push your beautiful vehicle when you've already had both rear axles...

Pros: Styling, Engineering, low sound, Safety, Comfort, ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE Cons: flimsy cup holders, lack of interior storage The Bottom Line: No wonder Car and Driver rated this one of the top 10 cars 3 years in a row! You have to drive it to believe it!
When I set out to get a new car I didn't want to spend too much. Being 6'4 I needed a vehicle with good leg and head room and comfortable to drive. A friend kept insisting I look at a BMW and I kept telling him it was way too much and would be too...

Pros: Suspension, handling, power everything, the looks I get Cons: cupholders, tilt should have a manual release, pick up
I recently bought a BMW 525i 2002.. My first bimmer and let me tell you I love it I just dont feel like getting out of the car. The only cons about the car is slow pickup and the cupholders and that the automatic tilt should have a manual as well in case a short circuit has failed the power. Otherwise I love it now just looking for ways to upgrade it externally.. Good driving everyone

BMW 5 series, simply the best

Pros: Handling, Comfort, Luxury, SAFETY, Value, FULL MAINTENANCE IS INCLUDED FROM BMW Cons: Flimsy cupholders is about all I can say
Reliability and Stability are benchmarks for this vehicle. The vehicle handles so well at high speeds (80 plus) that you dont feel the speed. In this car you will be traveling down the road at 85 and feel like you are only doing 60. THE SMOOTHEST RIDE EVER in a performance luxury auto. I have driven the Mercedes e320 (my dad has one), the CLK (my buddy's), and a Jaguar XJ (inlaws). The BMW 5 series blows them away. This car feels like an extention of yourself when you drive it. I like it so much that I cant wait for my next one when my lease is up. If you commute back and forth to work, reward yourself and get this car. The 525 has enough power, but the 530 is perfect. The 540 is a ticket to trouble as it is Born To Run. The creature comforts in the premium package and the quality of this German automobile are phenominal. The antilock braking system is tighter than any I have ever driven. What else can I say, drive it and you will buy it.

525i Sports Estate Wagon

Pros: Looks, build quality, nice balance of form and function. Cons: Weak low end torque, flimsy cupholders.
Bought a 525i wagon new 3 years ago. Did not want an SUV, but needed more versatility than a sedan. Over 50,000 miles of driving on the odometer, car is like new in all respects. Minor issues addressed in reasonable time.
The appearance of interior and exterior is tasteful and distinctive. Car will probably still look good and drive well several years from now. Good passenger and cargo room. Decent fuel mileage.
BMW needs to improve the low end torque response and up the horsepower for the 5 series. 530 should ideally be the entry level for the series (or at least an improved 528). The cupholders are a joke, but this is commonly reported.
Overall, the shortcomings do not make the vehicle any less appealing. The next generation 5 hold promise for the upcoming wagon version.

Pros: Best things: Great car, comfortable (even at 6'3") FAST. Radar detector should come standard.
Cons: Worst things: cup holders, driving in snow, cost of dealer service.
Bought used 1 year,16,000 miles ago. It now has 37000 miles total
Fantastic car. Not for those looking for a plush Boulevard ride. But it corners on rails, accelerates like crazy!
I have not had any problems with car.
