Pros: Smooth, quiet ride; comfortable seating; lots of goodies
Cons: Cheap tires; radio speakers
The Bottom Line: Get one!!!

Picked up my new Rendezvous CXL 2 weeks ago, came out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee. If you want noise, ruggedness and a butt-busting seat, do the Jeep. If you want a smooth, quite ride with lots of comfort, you gotta go with the Rendezvous. Mileage so far ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Very nice drive. Goes through snow and ice like butter!
Cons: Money pit. One problem after another.
The Bottom Line: Avoid this vehicle!

Beware used car buyers! The 02 Rendezvous (AWD) has been nothing but a problem. Expenses have been huge and frequent. Parts take forever to arrive and diagnosis of problems is a nightmare. Aside from all the other electrical/computer glitches and ... read more

Love the Rendezvous

by
Mar 20, 2007 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good ride, comfortable, third row seating converts easily, good gas mileage, all wheel drive.
Cons: Outside mirrors, dash lights, bad wheel bearings from manufacture.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend the Buick Rendezvous. Love the way it handles and it has plenty of space for passengers or groceries.

I bought my 02 Buick Rendezvous in 03. What I like about the Rendezvous is the ample room and the third row seating. The third row allows me to haul my grandchildren around wherever we need to go. When the third row is not in use, there is ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great ride, pretty good mileage, easily converts to three-seat configuration.
Cons: No real complaints from this driver...
The Bottom Line: We've been happy with this car and would buy it again!

We've had a great experience with our '02 Buick Rendezvous, which we purchased used in 2004. It had about 22,000 miles on it when we got it. Today, with about 50,000 miles on it, we're still quite happy. A few minor problems we've experienced: ... read more

Dec 30, 2006 - Updated Jan 2, 2007 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Luxury interior, seats 7 with good seating & storage flexability.
Cons: Totally unreliable!!! Don't let the pretty gadgets fool you.
The Bottom Line: Don't waste your time or money!

Prior to owning the Rendezvous I leased the Aztek and just loved everything about it, so the Rendezvous seemed like the next obvious choice since it had more luxury options. We bought it for how many it seats and, with the seats out, it held a lot ... read more

Mechanic's best friend! Owners worst fear.

by
Nov 14, 2006 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Enough problems early into the purchase to know to NEVER get this DUMB again!
Cons: Taking it off the lot with your name attached to it AND a loan.
The Bottom Line: Look in your rearview mirror if you buy one. You will surely see the salesmen shreaking hysterically and pointing at you while wiping the tears of laughter away.

I am sure I will forget some repairs that I have had done with-in 3 mo. of driving it off the "certified" lot. Wheel Bearings, air conditioning, self leveling suspension all but exploded, back lift gate, boots, starter,it's getting new tires so I can ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Very roomy cargo space, console. Good alternative for a minivan.
Cons: Too many expensive repairs!
The Bottom Line: Avoid this car - it's not dependable.

I bought this car brand new because of the spacious cargo area and console, it was the perfect looking "mommy car". Everyone fit into with plenty of room as well as any thing I chose to purchase. The transmission on this car went out after only being a ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Very roomy, comfortable, nice looking vehicle
Cons: Totally unreliable
The Bottom Line: We are a very busy family who thought we were getting the perfect family vehicle. The Buick Rendezvous is far too unreliable and cannot be trusted.

We have loved this car since the day we bought it, but it's a vehicle possessed. First I will start with the good news: The Buick Rendezvous is a great car, easy to drive, extremely comfortable, and a good alternative to a minivan. In 2001, we ... read more

Pros: LARGE INTERIOR. 4 AIR BAGS. Decent mpg, but not 26 Thoughtful interior features.
Cons: Hard to see when backing. 3yr/36k warranty. Overpriced unless you get a large rebate.(5k)
The Bottom Line: The workmanship and quality are NOT there. I wouldnt recommend to a friend unless I wanted a enemy! Durability is zero.

I purchased by 2002 Rendezvous with 19k miles on it. I have owned it now for a 1.5 years, now it has 30k on it. I have to say this car is Junk. I have had nothing but problems with it. First, the hood started corroding by the front windshield. Then, a ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: style, handling, size, third-row seats, shoulder belt middle seat
Cons: Lots of mechanical problems, no side-impact air bags for back seats
The Bottom Line: Definitely don't buy this vehicle used because you'll end up getting stuck with huge repair bills and no warranty.

When I first got our Rendezvous, I would have rated it 5-star, the first American vehicle we were happy with... But all of a sudden, we have problems -- lots of problems. At first you may think I got stuck with fluke of a lemon, except that my husband ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Like the looks, love the ride.
Cons: Expensive repairs that are not made in a timely manner
The Bottom Line: I would still buy the car if better parts were put in it.

Purchase: Bought in summer of 2001 to replace a mini van We liked the looks and the interior as well as the drive. It took four dealerships before someone knew that that driver's seat could be raised with a bar. At 5'2" I was told by one salesman that, ... read more

Pros: Pretty much everything, love the looks and the way it drives.
Cons: Mileage, engine power
The Bottom Line: It drives like a car, it has room like a van, you sit high like a truck, looks good, great standard equipment.

"Smarter Than The Average Minivan"

by
Jun 21, 2003 - Updated Jul 14, 2004 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Rides better than a truck and looks better than a minivan
Cons: Underpowered, kinky Transaxle, Annoying Cruise Control.
The Bottom Line: While underpowered, the Rendezvous is Innovative, Practical, and Reliable. PGA Tour Buicks are a great catch of a deal.

Aside from a School bus flattening the front of ours, We have had no problem with this vehicle. One complaint is that the engine is low on power, causing the transmision to hunt for gears while going uphill at highway speeds, nobody else seems to notice. ... read more

Cure for the Common Family Car

by
Apr 13, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Superb road manners, great ride & handling. The fit & finish is unsurpassed
Cons: The gas tank is only 18 gal.
The Bottom Line: Even though $30K+ is a lot of money, people who spend more for a particular name aren't getting a better vehicle.

I have never driven a vehicle like this. We just got back from the Poconos, and anyone who knows that area knows about those winding, hilly 2-lane roads that eat minivans for lunch. Well, my Rendezvous LOVED those roads -- didn't want to leave :-) ... read more

I'm a 'car guy', having bought for our family an average of one new vehicle per year for the last twenty years. We've had two Lexus, BMW 528, Audi, Saab, etc. Never dreamed that I'd ever own a Buick, which I considered a geriatric vehicle. However, I was ... read more
