Pros: Many standard features, power, nice looks. Cons: Gas mileage, out-dated emissions standard, price, size, visibility. The Bottom Line: Too expensive to own unless you are towing on a regular basis. Resale is a gamble.
Trucks, the ultimate utility vehicle. When I think of a large pickup truck driver, I think of construction workers, farmers, someone who’s driving it because they have to for utility, not necessarily because they want to. Like the trucks the local...

Pros: Great engine, very versatile, 5 seats, lockable bed. Cons: Bed not waterproof, not enough electrical outlets, too much plastic, minor warranty problems. The Bottom Line: A great truck for those that need the versatility of an 8 foot bed and room for the kids. A great truck.
This is a great truck for people that have a need for both an open bed truck and passenger room for 5 (6 if you get the bench seat). Although the look takes a little getting used to, the real reason for this vehicle is the versatility. You have the ...

Pros: Retro-tech styling, versatile handling of human and other types of cargo Cons: Expensive to own and operate; the new look isn't to everyone's liking The Bottom Line: This truck/SUV combination represents some sharp "what-do-people-want" thinking from Detroit. If you can afford it, it's a great vehicle.
Years ago, I saw the first Mad Max movie and its Road Warrior progeny. As much as I liked his hotrod cop car, I liked some of those post-apocalypse retro-tech desert vehicles better – they portrayed brutal efficiency and their blocky...

Pros: - truck when needed
- SUV when needed
- comfortable all the time Cons: - big truck, lots of room for little rattles
- gas, phew the gas! The Bottom Line: Totally love this truck. Been a long time since I owned one, and couldn't be happier with my decision!
2002 Chevy Avalanche Z71 - Black/Black My wife and I picked up our 2002 Chevy Avalanche in September this year (2004) We bought it used with 34,000 miles on it, and for already being 3 years old we couldn't believe how brand new this truck still ...

Pros: Great performance, smooth shifting, car-like handling, unlimited acceleration, multipurpose and great features
Cons: Mileage The Bottom Line: If you want reliability, adaptability and security of your investment on the road, the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche is the right answer.
Even if you are behind the wheels of this truck and get into a crash, I will not worry about you. You will walk out and start helping the injured in the other vehicle. That's the impression I got after driving this truck.
The 2002...

Pros: Stylish and reliable. Full of features, and oh so comfortable. Cons: Passing power. The "got change for a dollar" joke gets a little old. The Bottom Line: One word: Nice!
I've had my Avalanche for 7 months now. The more I drive it, the less likely I am to drive anything else.
I have the Z66, with 2 wheel drive and the 5.7 liter V8. It came with a one year subscription to Onstar, leather seats, heavy duty floor...

Pros: You feel like Tango and Cash in their indestructible SUV. Cons: Mileage, striking fear in the hearts of other drivers. The Bottom Line: If you have the means, buy and enjoy. It is fun to see others looking up and trying to figure out who is driving this beast.
Another concept vehicle has made its way from the auto show circuit to interfere with your daily commute. The only difference is that I wouldn't recommend that you cut this one off.
After spending some time in the cockpit of the North Face...

Pros: stable, comfortable, great for the family Cons: not enough storage, gas mileage, and price The Bottom Line: This is a great automobile for the family and for work. It has the amenities of a pick up truck, but can also be considered a family SUV.
It wasn't all that long ago that a person looking for a new set of wheels had two choices car or truck.
Generally, the decision was a lifestyle choice. Cars, more comfortable and more luxurious, were the obvious choice for people who simply had no...

Pros: Highly versatile. Cool Styling. Quiet, roomy and luxurious interior. Smooth ride. Cons: Low fuel efficiency. Too much plastic on the dash and center console. The Bottom Line: The Avalanche truly is the best of both worlds. Those being the SUV and the Pickup Truck worlds.
I will skip over the feature lists and such for the Avalanche and focus on the outstanding and the mundane, and compare to the competition.
The Interior:
Basically, as far as I can tell, there are no differences between the...

Pros: Versatility, room for the whole family Cons: New model = working out the bugs The Bottom Line: Definitely buy if you need a truck that can haul the whole family.
When we decided to purchase the Chevrolet Avalanche, we had no idea how much the truck would interest our family and friends. We fielded an "avalanche" of questions from everyone about this vehicle.
THE DEAL:
Before Chevrolet...

Pros: 2 vehicles in one, large and safe, cool looking, ride is smooth. Cons: gas mileage but love it so much I don't care!!! The Bottom Line: 2 vehicles for the price of one!! Rides like a cadillac!! Great for the family, plenty of room everywhere!!
With 2 boys and replacing my cramped chevy corsica I wanted something roomy. I walked into the showroom and fell in love with the Avalanche. With the sticker price at 37,000 I asked if there were options to get rid of to bring the price down.

Pros: Smooth ride, loaded with options and suprises, deep cargo bed. Cons: Gas Milage, weighs 3+ tons, Chevy Bow tie is everywhere!!! EXPENSIVE! The Bottom Line: Price is high. The vehicle seems to have many possibilities if you could keep it out of the shop for a while.
2 of my friends have purchased these in the last week. One got the Z-71 and the other one got The North Face special edition. I would never have personally given these trucks a second look until I saw them up close. I used to think they were ugly, but I ...

Pros: Handling, interior passenger space Cons: tailgate, water control, gas & oil consumption, upholstery, paint inside bed The Bottom Line: Do not buy this vehicle unless you intend to use it for pleasure only, the pick-up area is not built tough enough for utility use.
I'd like to share some things I don't like about my new Avalanche: The tailgate tends to open by itself whenever it feels like it. This has happened several times. The upholstery is cheap looking. After breaking down the midgate when I put the rear seats...

Pros: Great Car- Great Truck Cons: Passes everything except a gas station The Bottom Line: Most people use a truck 15% of the time. The rest of the time it needs to be a good passenger car. The Avalanche is very good in both categories
I have driven my avalanche for about 12,000 miles and I am very happy with it. I use it as a car most of the time, but it comes in handy on those trips to Home Depot and to haul around DJ equipment. Power is great. Gas Mileage is a pretty steady 15 on...

Pros: Extremely versatile, 8 foot cargo space, towing capacity Cons: Plastic body cladding, no diesel option The Bottom Line: BOTTOM LINE- An excellent versatile truck that combines the capabilities of a 8 foot pickup and the comfort and convenience of a Suburban. Would recommend truck to anyone who asks.
We purchased our 2002 Avalanche in the fall of 2001. After operating it for over 10 months, I have to say it is one of the best truck/SUV's we have ever owned. We own a small farm with horses. We required a vehicle that could tow a trailer and haul...
