Pros: Low price, decent power, passenger and cargo room Cons: MPG less than expected, seats could be more comfortable, bland The Bottom Line: If a car is just a car to you, and you want to stretch your dollars, this one will do. For style, nimble handling, or luxury, look elsewhere.
This is the kind of car Detroit specializes in these days: full of content, inexpensive, and mostly bought by rental car companies. Mine was from Dollar. I am generally puzzled by those who criticize American cars as funny-looking and/or boring. Have ...

Pros: Value Cons: A little rough around the edges compared to competing imports The Bottom Line: Great value for a very comfortable car loaded with features. Not as solid as some of the imports, but it's "bang for the buck" can't be beat
First, I'm not going to go through a litany of the features, since you can get that from Edmunds. I ...

Pros: basic options, roomy for compact car Cons: brakes and abs system The Bottom Line: I think it's a good car for a compact, low budget customer looking for lots of options!
I purchased a brand new 2002 Chevy Malibu back in July of 2002. Purchasing price was $19,760 plus I received a $3500 rebate. In total $995 worth of options. The thing I noticed most about the new Malibu at the dealer was the interior inside the ...

Pros: The price tag for one.
Power Windows/Locks
CD PLAYER! Cons: None yet. The Bottom Line: It's a heck of a lot of car for the price, and its well worth it. Especially when theres a great local Chevy dealership backing the car.
Recently, I rented a 2001 Chevy Malibu LS when my Galant finally decided it had its last outing with me and the transmission went out.
I always had a bad image of Malibu’s, and never paid attention to the new ones because of this “mental image” But...

Pros: Powertrain, outside mirror size Cons: Seat comfort, brakes, center vent positioning The Bottom Line: If you're looking for basic transportation, this car will do. Make sure you check around and test drive the competition. You'll probably find something better.
I don't think anyone would buy a Malibu to experience any extremes. I think the Malibu fits a slot that buyers would expect it to be adequate, basic transportation. On that point, it delivers in most areas.
Things I liked
As with most...

Pros: I drive it for free. Cons: Uncomfortable. Poor maneuverability. The Bottom Line: This thing has the turning radius of a Mack truck. Avoid this behemoth unless you get to drive it for free.
Very standard - looks very much like a million other standard sedans. No better or worse but where it truly pales in comparison to every other car I've ever owned is it's maneuverability. It handles extremely poor and keep in mind I'm a middle aged woman...

Pros: Value, Roominess, Comfort, 100,000 miles before 1st scheduled tune-up. Cons: Very average physique, folding rear seats not standard equipment. The Bottom Line: This car is a great buy, however, it is a chameleon. It has many "competitive advantages" over the Taurus, beginning with the sales approach and ending with the value.
Married and 30 years old with children, it was time to trade in the 1996 Ford Escort. Having been very well served over six years of ownership of the Escort, I intended to stay "brand loyal" and perused the local Ford lots for a new Taurus.

Pros: roominess, trunk space, great gas mileage Cons: no major bells and whistles, a plain-jane car The Bottom Line: This is a Great Mom's Car, Holds all the "children essentials" and at a great price
AS a mother of a 22 month old and expecting child number two, when my husband and i were searching for a newer family car we were torn between the Chevy Impala and the Chevy Malibu. We were, quite frankly, strongly leaning in the direction of the ...

Pros: Nice ride, low noise level and comfy for around town. Cons: Gas mileage is not good even with regular oil changes. The Bottom Line: I would purchase another Chevy Malibu if the gas mileage was improved otherwise I would not purchase again.
I have a white 4 door V6 2002 Chevy Malibu that I have owned for about 6 months now. Pros: Hard working AC that is still running like brand new, fairly large trunk, has the child car seat hooks in back that makes connecting a car seat easier and ...

My mom owns a White 02' Malibu and is very proud of it because she loves that car, it's the newest car we ever owned for now, it is very roomy, luxurious and comfortable, it is not beginner's car though, the one my mom bought was worth $10,000 and ...

Pros: Affordable Cons: Non stop problems since 6 months after I purchased it used. The Bottom Line: Never again will I buy a Chevrolet, since when is the rear seats folding down considered a luxury option??
I purchased this car about a year and a half ago used. I hadn't even had it a month when I started to have problems with it. The check engine light would came on on my first long drive out of state. I immediately pulled into a gas station to have them ...

Pros: Equipment for the money, Quick performance, Invisible to police Cons: Cheap plastic wheelcovers rattle, RDS stereo not necessary due to limited stations using it. The Bottom Line: I would say yes. It's fine, be prepared for brake problems and keep it well maintained. It's already more reliable than my past Corolla and Accords.
I like this car. I got a better deal than anywhere else. I was looking for a specific price. It's ro ...

Pros: inexpensive, V6, reliable, power windows/locks, cd. Cons: bland (but I knew that when I bought it)
otherwise none The Bottom Line: If you are on a budget and want a midsize, v6 car then get malibu.
What better car can you buy under $19,000? You can buy a good small car, but then what about those winters (I am from northeast of US). When you are thinking of buying a car in $15 - 20,000 range the first car that comes to mind is honda civic. Its a...

Boring!

Pros: Engine. Cons: Cup holders, breaks, style, wheels, knowing that you are driving a *sigh* malibu.
I decided back in '03 that I needed a sensible car so I went out and bought the Malibu. Or as my wife calls it "the brown box with wheels". The exterior of this car has boring written all over it and it did, at the time I thought I was being practical and making a safe buy. I was happy with the engine and the pep it had, however that was about it. For four years I drove this car with only one good cup holder, a very boring interior, terrible breaks, and no standard keyless entry. Oh and forget about getting a car seat in and out! Over the years I grew from like to hate with this brown car, with the brown interior, that had the brown chevy logo on it. I finally parted ways with it today and didn't shed a tear but watched as the tail light burnt out as the dealer drove it away. This car has officially ended my time with American cars. Thank god for Nissan, Toyota and Honda.

A Good Family Car

Pros: It is a good car for the money. Cons: If someone where to broadside you, it would affect everyone in the vehicle.
The Malibu is a good car for a family. The four doors makes it easy to get the kids in and out of. Also, the trunk is large enough to go out of town with your family! Not to mention that the back seats fold down 60/40 to make it easier to haul larger items.
