Pros: Unique, good cargo space, lots of standard features. Cons: Lack of power. The Bottom Line: Unique, fun car to drive. Lacks power. Good cargo space and comfortable. Lots of standard features.
Many new additions for the 2002 PT Cruiser! New colors almond and steel blue are replacing the aqua and shale green. The almond is much prettier than I had expected it to be and the steel blue is down right stunning. The previous optional under seat...

Pros: Hot colors and a sense of awe, wow; retro looks and appeals Cons: Narrow front The Bottom Line: If you want to impress your friends and the members of the opposite sex, be behind the wheels of a PT Cruiser!
If Honda and Toyota are known for their safety and durability records, Chrysler is not only known for the previously named features, but is also known for a sense of awe brought about by the retro appeals of their PT Cruiser. Daimler-Chrysler designers...

Pros: Looks, features, way it handles, cargo space, mechanical reliability Cons: New owner- None as yet! [UPDATED 2004, 2006, 2007] The Bottom Line: From a woman's perspective, "This ain't no Mom's car!" For a man, it's not an old "fuddy duddy" vehicle. Buy the Cruiser and enjoy driving!
My stats for comparison: Age 45, female, petite, empty-nester, master's degree, a bit on the quirky side (if I wasn't, I would have purchased a sedate Oldsmobile or similar!), live in the northeast, tired of mom's cars or cars that are really nice, ...

Pros: Stylish and fun Cons: none for the reasons I bought it The Bottom Line: As with any high priced item, know WHY your are purchasing a particular model - if you want power and speed, get a car designed for that.
This car gets more attention than most cars - both positive and negative. It seems to be either people love or hate it, with no in between. I don't feel it's necessary to list all its available options in this review. That, you, the purchaser should do -...

Pros: A comfortable, fun car to drive Cons: Not so great gas mileage, strange dashboard layout The Bottom Line: Chrysler's advertising tag line is "Drive = Love"... when it comes to the PT Cruiser, they couldn't be more right!
I was not in the market for a new car but in July I had someone slam into the back of my Mazda 626 while going 50 miles per hour. After being pushed across two lanes of oncoming traffic and into a phone booth in a parking lot, my wonderful little Mazda...

Pros: Distinctive style, affordable, good gas mileage, comfortable, practical Cons: Interior only comes in taupe The Bottom Line: This car has everything any car has to offer and so much more. Comfort, practicality, looks. It will bring a smile to your face every time you approach it.
My Story
I used to not be terribly interested in the design of cars. Driving was enjoyable for me not because of the car, but in spite of it. I simply enjoyed the alone time, listening to music and thinking....

Pros: Cute retro styling, nice color choices a lot of room Cons: Recalls, Bad brakes, Transmission Problems. The Bottom Line: I would not recommend this car as it is frequently in the shop.
Jan. 2002 After my recent crash I've been looking at new cars. For several years I've drooled over the cute little PT Cruiser but I can't and won't learn how to drive a stick. Today hubby and I went and test-drove a new Camry which was nice and ...

Pros: Cute car, head room, cargo space
Cons: Poor on ice and snow. Transmission, repairs just cost more than other cars. The Bottom Line: It is a good around town car for looks and pep, but it is not a highway car.
When I hit a deer two years ago, I needed a new car quickly. I found my 2002 PT Cruiser at a great price, but I have found that I have easily spent that money I thought I saved to keep it running. I had to rebuild the transmission this year for $2500. ...

Pros: Quiet as a church, fun to drive, great-looking Cons: Acceleration, blind spots, LEXAN panels on doors show fingerprints for months The Bottom Line: Having fun in this updated summer cruiser
Having shot my 2000 VW Jetta with a deer rifle (metaphorically at least) I was looking for something practical, yet fun.
I settled on the 2002 PT Cruiser Limited Edition for the simple reason that one of my 8 kids is obsessed with them, saying...

Pros: The car looks cool! Cons: Poor reliability, visibility, gas mileage, dealer service, resale value. The Bottom Line: Unfortunately, I highly recommend you avoid this car based on our experience. It had a lot of problems for a new vehicle, and the dealership was not supporting it well.
PT Cruisers are cute looking little cars. Our experience with the car, and the large Phoenix area Chrysler dealership that we bought it from is that it is a horrible vehicle to own. In 40 years of car ownership, with at least 12 new cars and numerou ...

Pros: Styling, mileage, handling, and looks! Cons: I love the car...and I hate 4 cylinders! The Bottom Line: Remember, Chrysler didn't promise touring or luxury...only fun, affordability, common sense, and great value.
An airhead in a Ford Rangerette was dreaming of something when he slammed into the rear of my Dakota going 35 at a red light. As with all unfortunate mishaps, there is a plus side...the insurance adjuster let me choose any car I wanted to drive for the...

Pros: New look with comfortable ride. Cons: Traction The Bottom Line: Great car! Fun to drive and looks excellent!
The PT Cruiser has a very appealing look inside and out. I rented one of these cars recently and was very pleased with the smooth, comfortable ride and the good gas mileage. The engine was powerful enough to efficiently pass cars on the highway yet quiet...

Pros: Extremely well thought out interior, good handling and power. Radical retro looks. Good pricing. Cons: Radical retro looks? Too fad? The Bottom Line: Nicely designed and thought out. At list price a very good buy.
This is the first time I've seriously looked at buying an American car in over 20 years. The PT is nicely designed and thought out. If the mechanical side lives up to the rest of the design, this is a sure-fire classic.
How did I get here? My van...

Pros: It's a (good looking) Personal Transport (SUV, Car, Van, Wagon, Sportscar)! Cons: Deceptively smooth and quiet can can lead to speeding tickets. The Bottom Line: Good buy for ~$20K purchase that looks great and handles very well and plumps when you cook it (ie it goes).
I have to admitt it, I wanted one before I even was seriously researching it. I feel I got luck via Costco and the contracted Dealer. I'm not trying to sound like a sales person but after reading my own review I have made a few updates to it to try to be...

Pros: Styling, Versatility and Price. A big Bang for your Buck. Cons: Turning radius is quite wide. The Bottom Line: I could easily recommend a PT to someone who wanted a stylish car, with ample power and was actually usable.
I bought my PT on May 3rd, 2002. It was more of an impulse buy than anything. (I had found another oil leak in my old car and decided that I wasn't going to deal with it, and became the happy owner of a PT about five hours after finding an oil leak...
